For an infection developed around the tooth, is it advisable to take ofloxacin and ornidazole tablets (Zanocin-Oz) for the infection? It has gastric problem associated with it. ## What has your dentist advised you to take? They should be guiding you in finding the appropriate antibiotic to treat the infection and when to return to have the tooth repaired. If you aren’t seeing your dentist, then the infection will just keep returning, since an antibiotic isn’t going to remedy the underlying cause of an infection, such as a deep dental cary. ## My teeth and gums are infected. Should I take Zanocin-Oz twice? Is it ok?

I am 38 yrs male and I am an ibs patient, it is more than 12 years old. I am always feeling discomfort due to more mucus in my stool. I am taking ofloxacin ornidazole tablets daily. When I stop taking this medicine the flow of mucus is more with or without stool. I want to know, is it safe for me taking this tablet daily? ## Hi, Raja! I'm sorry to hear about the problem that you're having. My son is 5 months old weighting 5 Kg. He is suffering from a cough and cold and he was given Ofloxacin suspension (Brand Name: NEOF) and no improvement after 4 days also. Is it a better medicine for cough and cold? Please advise me on the issue. ## Ofloxacin is in a class of antibiotics known as Quinolone Antibiotics. These antibiotics have been banned in the United States for children for their potential to cause tendon, cartilage, joint and muscle problems and the FDA found that these problems were too risky to give this drug to growing children. It would be prudent to ask your doctor for an alternative antibiotic to any of the Quinolones, as it is simply too risky to give them to children. In addition, this is an antibiotic, and antibiotics are only useful for bacterial infections. ...

Child specialist has prescribed ofloxacin syrup to my 8 month old grandchild 4ml twice a day for a cough & cold. When his mother had given the medicine to the baby, he tried to cough / vomit. Is the ofloxacin is safe for the baby? The taste of the syrup is not good. Please advise. ## As listed by the U.S. FDA, nausea and vomiting can be normal side effects of this medication, it could also cause dizziness, headache and non-allergic skin rash. Have you tried mixing it with juice or apple sauce? It is best to stay away from using dairy products, but unless the doctor states otherwise, it usually okay to mix it with fruits, jello or juices to make it more palatable. ## My 8 month old girl weighs 9kg, has a fever and doctors prescribed ofloxacin 6.5ml 4 times a day. given for stomach pain in India ## Orni O is listed as containing Ofloxacin and Ornidazole, they are antibiotics that are used to various types of bacterial infections, though Ornidazole can also be used to treat some parasites. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain, cramping, and diarrhea. Ofloxacin is available in the U.S., not Ornidazole, a similar medication available here is Metronidazole and the FDA lists it as causing the same side effects. how many tabs should be taken to treat UTI? ## nothing ## I am afraid that this seems to be an over the counter supplement touted as a drug alternative for urinary problems. That said, it is, therefore, not proven to actually help with anything. I can't even find information on what it contains or exactly what they recommend you use it to treat or prevent. Urinary tract infections normally require an antibiotic, which is prescribed by your doctor, according to the type and severity of the infection. Have you consulted a doctor regarding the use of this or your possible need for an antibiotic? Self-treatment could result in a more severe infection and illness than what you are already dealing with. I am going to try to see if I can find any more information on this. Is there anything...
