New To Subutex In Ks

Hey everyone after recently being released from prison, so many great things are happening in my life however my painful desire to use opiates is still strong and almost led me to ER yesterday. That was my routine before but I fought it,prayed,and let my wife &sister know. So by Gods grace we found a great psychiatrist who got me immediately. I was put on 8mg Subutex 2x a day. I'm nervous to start it. I'm in no withdraw but I'm using it as a preventive. Can you please tell me what to expect with this med? I'm also on 1mg Xanax three times daily as needed and an anti depressant. Thanks everyone

Hello, Chad! How are you? Have you taken it, yet? So awesome that you faced your problem and sought help for it!

The FDA classifies Subutex as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Can anyone that's been on it chime in with their experience?

I have suffered with widespread chronic pain and chronic fatigue since 1997 and have been on just about everything they use for this condition which is Fibromyalgia. But all of it had terrible side effects. I just had no life . One day while in immigration jail for 7 months and 5 years prison prior for a serious crime that I did not do. And am here legally for 54 years. This dr. put me on 4mg of subutex and the following day, raised it to 8mg. I was sick and throwing up and couldn't hold anything in my stomach. But after a few weeks went by, I was feeling great. When I was released the Dr. gave me 3 months supply to give me time to find another Dr. It was the closest I was to a normal life since it had started. I had no chronic fatigue. had energy like normal people, was not depressed, no brain fog like I was and new person. I was happy. So I was taking 8mg in the morning and 8 mg. at night. My sleeping problems were gone, my brain fog was gone. I could actually do normal things like cleaning, watering the yard, going for walks and so on. But when I ran out and started seeing a dr. through a homeless clinic (yes I was homeless but only for only 3 days though, then ended up in a clean and sober house until my sister came and got me and I started living with her) Anyways When I ran out I was put on methadone and vicodin. I hated the methadone and just decided to take the vicodin and recently from vicodin to roxicodone (oxycodone) Well, since Dec.2012 I am right back to where I started, I don't know which is worse sometimes, the pain or the chronic fatigue or brain fog. So, I am on medi-cal and disability, does anyone have any suggestions on where there is a pain specialist that takes medi-cal that can subscribe subutex? I have never tried the suboxone and I don't know if that would help me but if it does, then that's fine with me. I am in California...Modesto area. Thank you...Evelyn
