A few issues to consider: The Activis generic has the same dosage of amphetamine salts, but a different formulation. Second, it's known that acidity inhibits absorbtion of amphetamine, so try avoiding acidic foods/beverages when taking within two hours of taking the medication (e.g., coffee (ugh), citric juices, cranberry juice, tomatoes, etc.) Google acidic foods and you'll get a list. Drink your OJ later in the day. I put lemon juice in my water at dinner sometimes to make sure I'm getting my vitamin C. The message is not to avoid acidic foods, just to pay attention as to when you're consuming them and eat a balanced diet. Also, alcohol is a depressant so avoid alcohol when taking this med (guess that means don't drink in the morning). Finally, don't take this med (brand or generic) 7 days a week or you'll build up a tolerance to it. Give yourself a break on the weekends or when you don't need it.

Persistence prevailed, found that the insurance Company has put the name brand Adderral XR on their list for approved medications. I have been taking the Adderall XR 15 mg now up'd to 20 mg and there has been ....nothing, no changes. With this being said, Its worthless, all l do is stay up at night and nothing more. For my next prescription, I'm going to another pharmacy other than CVS to see if there will be any changes before concluding that these new orange 20 mg are a waist of time because they're not working and in the time I will find out who their manufactured by. If you've never experienced the ill effects of ADD or Narcolepsy, consider yourself fortunate. When prescribed a medication to prevent the ill effects and the outcome is positive: ie: being able to drive for more than 30 minutes without falling asleep, actually being productive at school and/or work instead of in a constant state of distraction; it's like a huge weight being lifted from your shoulders. No more worries about accidents, failing classes or being fired. Then along comes a new generic, and WHAM...without your knowledge, the manufacturer has either inadvertently or knowingly substitutes inactive ingredients that react differently with the active ingredients or may cause allergic reactions in susceptible people. With Narcolepsy, this obviously can be life threatening.

I too have started getting the all orange capsules with white beads and within 45 minutes, I'm falling asleep at my desk! I thought I was given the wrong meds and that it was some sort of sleeping pill or anti anxiety meds. They are horrible!! Definitely need to address it with my Dr and get the name brand version. I think with my insurance, it's a $20 difference. Definitely worth it if I can get my work done every day!!

Worked alright. I took a pill at 3:30pm, started to feel calmer, more focused, sharp and alert around 1 hour and 30 minutes later. General anxiety went away, which really helps me focus for my technical-heavy school studies. Review: good, but takes a while to kick in.

These all orange 30mg generic xrs do not work at all. I am tied all day and "squirrel" all over the place. I cant stay focused for 5 min on one thing. Then joy of joys about 8pm (12 hours after I take it, I cant get to sleep until 1 am. These things are crap. I pay the extra 40 bucks for name brand when ever I can. But half the time I have to go to 4 or 5 different pharamcys to find them. The same thing with my son ( who is 25). So its not just me. They need to take this off the market. Its horrible the struggles I have to go thru just to get thru the day when all I have is this. I am going to talk to my dr. And ask him to switch me to the 30 mg regular tabs and just break them in half taking twice a day. I took a couple of those in generic form and they worked fine. Shire makes these horrid things, and they bought out the company that makes the freaking name brand. WTH?

The substance Inside resembles the texture of salt. Hence the name, I am actually newly diagnosed after years of struggle in high school with even realizing I had ADHD. I can tell you I had a lot of hours clocked in detention. But this generic is awful simply put.

I've had the exact same problem. I've take two 30xr (60mg) and I feel nothing. No motivation to do a thing! But I feel zoned in trance like, to just sitting on my couch with my mouth hung open in a "blah" if you will, feeling. This is the first time taking actavis and it sucks. And I have no insurance. So I paid $165 for 30 pills after the pharmacy gave me a discount. Normally I fork up and pay $180 for teva at walgreens, or $255 for brand at walgreens... And I guess the saying is true you do get what U pay for! But $165 is still a ton of money for a medicine that doesn't work! I'm more productive with a 5 hour energy drink or red bull then this junk!

You are spelling the maker wrong. it is ACTAVIS. If you switch to the MALENKROFT tablet, you will have no problems. It has been the same formula for years. All the others are using chemicals from China, which explains the changes.

THANK YOU!! I have been on Adderall for years and since DEC 2014, I have noticed that it was not working? I thought this was just me.
My physician prescribed me the BRAND, and not surprising, the Insurance would not cover the cost.
Due to my Ins, I must fill the script at CVS. Currently, CVS is delivered the Actavis generic. I asked if I could request the order of a different generic brand, and I was told that I could not. CVS has a contract with a wholesaler, who is ONLY delivering Actavis.
Other than paying out of pocket for the BRAND, what is there to do? I would like to think my health is more important than my money, but seriously, it is not affordable to be paying hundreds of $$$ / month. I have a family, and I just cannot.
How can I get the Malonkroft, or another generic that might actually work?
I have just today realized how corporate frugality and profit operate in our system. SAD!

I was taking the generic Adderall from Global Pharmacy and it was working great. I just got a refill from CVS and it's not the same generic. They switched to Actavis and now it's a blue pill, not orange like before for the 20mg. I took one and did not like the anxiety and how I felt different. I thought it was in my head so I tried it for a couple more days. It is NOT the same. I know they say every generic is the same, but for me, this doesn't work. They won't refill it so I have to wait a month and hope another pharmacy carries the other brand.

I feel the same way about the 3061 adderall, they have white salt like stuff in the middle... I've been taking adderall for 8 years and these do NOTHING for me, I take my meds at 6 am and fall back asleep for an hour then good to go, these 3061 ones I could sleep til 10am and have!!'

I have been taking 30mg of Adderall xr since 2002. In 2009 switched to Global/Barr Generic and that seemed same. I moved towns and now get Activis generic 30 mg XR at CVS for last 12 months. It just isn't working as well. I am very unhappy about it. It was the perfect medication for me before and made me feel 100% normal. Do smaller pharmacies still carry the Global/Teva/Barr Generics name?
