Need Replacement For Lorazepam

I have been taking Ativan for 8 years now, prescribed to me by my doctor, after being hospitalized for drug use. I am doing great now, but after a motorcycle accident got prescribed Ativan "lorazepam" again for pain and muscle relief but now I am at 6 mg of Ativan daily and it's not doing the job anymore. It helps me and relieves my pain and anxiety for one hour, then nothing. I need to find a replacement if possible just like Ativan. It's addictive I know, but very helpful in many ways and not heavy or disturbing the next day. I am 43 years old.

I feel the same way. I noticed a difference in the brand name Ativan made in Germany. It was made by MEDA Manufacturing and I never had a problem until Mylan took over the manufacturing. The pills didn't seem to be mixed well (I would break the 1 mg. in 1/2 and take it two times a day) and got either "heart pounding" or "brain numbing" results. I switched to a generic brand made in America, but also had heart palpitations and couldn't sleep through the night. The latest brand name I bought has caused dizziness and doesn't seem to remain in the system as long and I feel as if I go through a withdrawal period, leaving me wanting to take more (I've fought this) but sometimes I feel worse taking it than not, as if it's increasing my anxiety. This had turned out to be a nightmare, as I feel I can't get my life back and the doctors don't seem to understand that there could be a change in formulation.

Clondie sorry not sure if spelling is exactly correct I'm not at home to look but it will work just as good for anxiety not sure so much for pain though. The next closest to Ativan's in my opinion are the Valium's. Clozapine is way stronger and has horrible side effects and the Xanax will just totally knock you right out! Hope I was able to help!
