Need Help W/doc Search In Ann Arbor/ypsilanti, Mi

Hey All!

I hope everyone is well today! I'm trying to find a new doctor in SouthEast, MI; to replace my current doctor at the UofM Spine Clinic. (Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area in Washtenaw County to be more precise)

I'm a 25 yr old that has been having problems w/my sciatic nerve, lower back & a lot of weird spasms on the left side of my body. Mostly it's the sciatica that's gotten me to the point where I can barely stand, walk, sit and it's agony to do quite a few normal day-to-day activities w/o help. When I first started seeing Dr.Issar, she put me on neurotion. Which made me too dizzy to function. When I asked to be taken off the meds is when my problems started.

I tried calling b/c upon weaning off the neurotion, I had a drastic increase in my pain levels & it took several phone calls to not only the office, but then the office manager since it'd been almost 2 weeks w/no return calls, the day I caved & went to see my primary dr,.the office manager finally called back. About 25 mins later, the Dr *FINALLY* calls me back & has the nerve to speak to me like a petulant child that's upset she's in trouble! She then finally decided to order an MRI (which I had requested upon starting treatment) when I asked about a substitute for the neurotion to help get my pain levels under control she again starts speaking to me like a child. My PCP had been prescribing 5mg roxicodone, motrin 800s, norflex er 100mg & a steroid pack. Which allowed the most relief I had experienced in forever.

I need to find another pain management/spine specialist in the area that is covered under Blue Cross Blue Shield, UofM Premier Care Insurance. One that preferably doesn't throw tantrums that takes me & my medical concerns seriously. If anyone knows someone who fits the bill, that'd be great! Thanks, I appreciate the help in advance!

I used to see a Doctor in Monroe, Mi that they shut down. I then switched to a doctor in Bowling Green, Ohio. I had to have someone drive me there as I cannot drive. BG pain Clininc, Dr Jay Smith.

I may not have a doctor I can refer you to, but I can provide you with a couple links that may be of service to you in locating pain management doctors in your general area.

All you have to do is input your city or zip code for narrowed results:

Many of the results you find (in one or both of the links above) also list a phone number for that specific doctor; I'd consider calling up a number of them to see if they are accepting new patients; some aren't, but most usually are. As far as insurance goes, unfortunately I don't have any specific details on that to provide you with, but the receptionists are generally good at addressing those concerns. Even though you can't necessarily meet the doctor over the phone all the time, I do believe that you can at least feel out any good or bad vibes from the place just by hearing their voices.
