New White Hydrocodone

Updated

wondering if anyone else experinenced vomitting or nasuea when taking the new white pills, i have been on the yellow 10-325 for about two years for low back pain/procedure i had done, i dont take but about 2 a day now maybe 3 if that or if any on some days, but when i went for my new script and took my first one of the new white ones, i got ill and began vomitting within about 20 mins of taking it, the next day i took just half thinkin my body would adjust to it as i was in pain n didnt feel i had a choice, i still felt nauseous although didnt vomit and since have been okay, its been about 3 weeks since ive started taking the new pills... anythoughts or experience with these new ones would be greatly appreciated....

Yes they are awful. They are not as effective as the yellow formula in controlling the pain and the side effects are horrible! I didn't go as far as to actually vomit however I was constantly nauseous and had constant abdominal pain. Thankfully my pharmacy had the yellow generic again the subsequent month.

I was just the opposite, when I was on the yellow pills I was so sick all the time. So I started breaking them in 1/2 and taking them about 3-4 hours apart. It never really got any better. I went on the 7.5 vicdin white pills and at fiest they made me sick about 2 weeks and then as soon as I was used to them they changed it to no vicodone. My DR. gave me a script for Norco 7.5 325mg and I had to take 2 at a time to get any relief. Taking 5-6 pills a day. Now the DR. has switched me to Lortab 10-500. I just got these but I looked them up on pc and they are really another name for vicodone. So I don't know why they did all this nonsence. I'm thinking maybe you should try the norco( vicodone) or ask for the lortab. They don't make me sick at all, and I can barely take anything without getting sick. Good luck to you and I would get a different script.

Contact Watson at actavis.com, fill out the "contact us" form and send it. Be as detailed as you can be about any side effects & the ineffectiveness of the new formula. I also told them I was going to request my pharmacy to stop stocking them until the formula is changed back. Also, click on, on the same page as contact form, to report adverse reactions. There will be telephone numbers you can call. One is for Watson products & the other is for Actavis products.
I think we all need to be doing this instead of just changing pharmacies or meds.
Wendy, Vicodin & lortab is the same thing. They are both hydrocodone & acetaminophen. It is the manufacturer of the generics that is causing the problem. Just an FYI.

Thanks for the info. Yes I had looked it up and saw it was the same but, it is not the same vicodone I was taking before they changed it. I have been on the 10-500 Lortab for 2 weeks now and these are worse than the ( norco) 7.5-325. I can take 2 and get some relief. But these 10mg are a joke. Why are they making everyone suffer. They shoud just leave the old formula for us to take. Thanks again.

Yes, there have been many complaints about the white tablets, though they are supposed to have just removed the dye from them and not made any other changes.

I'd suggest asking your pharmacy to order you in the ones from a different manufacturer, or asking if your doctor can prescribe them as 'brand medically necessary", if the generic is causing you severe problems.

Another note that needs to be added here is that as of 2013, the FDA has made a request that all manufacturers lower the amount of Acetaminophen in these combination prescription products to no more than 325mgs per dose.

There are severe concerns about the dangers of liver damage and failure that can be associated with long-term use of high amounts, as well as the toxicity of overdose.

Some manufacturers have already begun to implement the change and the rest are expected to have it completed by January of 2014. Thus, in the future, if you are taking the ones that contain 500mgs of Acetaminophen, that will be changing.

You can learn more Vicodin details here.

Are there any other questions or comments?

Other than a 'mental' difference the yellow and white is the same drug. If your getting sick from one and not the other then maybe you need to see a different kind of doctor. Have you tried the green ones, blue ones, white ones with green specks? And how about the pink ones that appear once a year around Feb for breast cancer month (do they make you sick as well) Hate to say it but 10/325 is just that no difference as far as color goes. However blue ones can be 10/650 or so.

Rusty, Are you serious about that mental remark? Why would you even post that sarcastic message? I suppose you think it is funny, that persons (multiple)with serious pain are suddenly getting no relief!!!!!!!!!
Hope that never happens to you.

RUSTY- From your extremely rude and very ignorant comments I would bet that you take Rx meds that you buy on the street illegally for recreational purposes. If you were prescribed them yourself to manage moderate to severe pain as a lot of us are, you would/should know AT THE VERY LEAST, that ALL generics ARE NOT the same. Different manufactures use different inactive ingredients which DIRECTLY affects the way your body reacts to the medication. For example how quickly it starts to work, and the length of time it actually gives you pain relief! This varies from person to person as we are all obviously different! ADDITIONALLY, GENERICS MAY NOT CONTAIN AS MANY MILLIGRAMS OF HYDROCODONE AS THE RX BOTTLE STATES! There is no penalty to them if it contains less is more. However, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude that the cheaper the generic, the better the odds they do contain less. Ask your pharmacist! But in your case that's probably a buddy or dealer, who probably doesn't know anything either, just like yourself!
