Need Pain Medicine Doc

Just moved to Oklahoma City, OK. and need a pain medicine doctor to prescribe Percocet, Gabapentin, and Valium, which I have taken for three years due to pain from herniated discs, facet disease and spinal stenosis. Urgently need a doctor which accepts cash payments/self-pay until my insurance kicks in six months from now. Thanks in advance for all replies, I appreciate any information you can give me.

Well, I don't think anyone is going to be able to recommend a doctor and guarantee they'll prescribe those specific medications.

The best thing you can do is set up an appointment with a new doctor and make sure that they get a full copy of your medical records, so they can see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past, as documented by a fellow physician.

And it is highly unlikely that a pain management specialist will prescribe the Valium, since it's usually used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders and that's not their area of expertise.

Thank you for your reply, I am still looking. Actually, I have access to Indian Health Services with my CDIB card, but they won't have an appointment for another 2 months, and suggest going to the closest Emergency Room, Everyone knows you cannot afford to go to the E/R, unless you have some good insurance, way too expensive for me at this point. I'm hoping someone can recommend a good Internist that will take care of all my health needs, as well as my chronic pain health needs, without having to pay an expensive pain management doctor. Thank you.
