Mobile, Alabama Pain Management Doctor

Updated

I am moving to Mobile in two months. I am trying to find a cronic pain management doctor that will continue to prescribe me 180 30mg Oxycodone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there is no listing of doctors that I can refer to for you according to what they will or will not prescribe. Additionally, if you call around and ask if they'll prescribe such a medication, most doctors will view that as drug seeking behavior and not even let you get in the door.

What you'll actually need to do is get yourself set up with a new PCP in your new area, then see if they can refer you to a pain specialist. That would likely be the quickest way to get the help you need.

Does anyone know of a good doctor in that area?

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Your right. I think I'm gonna ask my doctor for a referral an go with it from there. I'm gonna have surgery in 4 mo. I'm praying I wont have to take it anymore. Thank you.

Try Dr Couch who works for a group called physicians pain specialists. I think there might be a waiting list and yes, you should never ask for specific or doses of medications. They will ask you what you were on. And these drs will want to perform epidurals, facet inj and other procedures to try to limit your need for such potent meds. Good luck.

Help! I am trying to find a primary care doctor or pain management doctor in Mobile, AL or Baldwin County, AL to treat and prescribe the pain medications that my orthopedic surgeon has been giving me but is wanting to taper me off of them since he doesn’t treat chronic pain. I’m on Oxycodone and as he lowers it each time, my pain increases significantly and I go from being able to function and complete daily tasks, to crying in the fetal position from the intractable pain. If anyone knows a doctor in or around this region who could help me (sooner the better!), please please let me know! Thank you kindly.

Re: Tiggertoo (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

Yes and those injections and procedures are expensive to ur insurance and are a $$$ maker for the docs . Any good neurosurgeon will tell u that they are caring for patients that these procedures have ruined peoples lives . One mishap on a neck ablation or injection of the numerous procedures they do and ur paralyzed for life or in worse pin due to the mounting scar tissue. They bully u to get multiple procedures even after no improvement from them in order to continue to get ur pain meds. Yes opioids are addictive but taken properly they are safe and effective. Yes , u develop tolerance over time but any good doc will know how to increase it as needed.
