Mixing Versus Centrifuging

Updated

The difference between cheap/inexpensive 10/325 mixing and the process of centrifuging determines the strength of a 10/325. To take 10 milligrams of codeine and 325 milligrams of acetaminophen and mix them together only produces acetaminophen and codeine. Centrifuging coaleses and bonds the ingradients together to make a much more robust and potent medication. So, the difference is coalescing rather than mixing. My experience is the Qualitest exhibit qualities consistent with centrifuging

Hi Jim,

Thanks for sharing this info on centrifuging. I would've never thought of this as a way to increase the efficacy of two or more substances. But it does make sense in that there would be less binders/fillers from taking 1 tablet with everything fused together, as opposed to multiple tablets with varying amounts of inactive ingredients that could potentially hinder absorption. I'm not sure if that's what you were getting at when you mentioned "coalescing rather than mixing", but if not, I suppose that's just another added benefit.

So for the process of centrifuging, how would a patient go about getting this type of prescription filled? - A compounding pharmacy? Or does the doctor write it out in a way that regular pharmacies can fill?

Pain pill manufacturers overseas have become major suppliers especially to U.S. pharmacy chains. Pain meds made in India for example can be identified by their chalky finish, immediate dissolving, crumble easily, and lower priced. The lower prices, however, are not passed on to domestic consumers. Meds made in the U.S. have a sheen, are hard, and are coalesced to meet or exceed U.S. quality standards. As I mentioned above, from what I understand Qualitest yellow pills 10/325 are manufactured either here, or a non-third world country using the process of coalescing rather than merely mixing and stirring the two ingredients.

Thanks for your feedback Jim. It's very helpful. Qualitest does seem to produce a better quality Hydrocodone/APAP than other manufacturers I've personally encountered.. and based off your information I would imagine that "coalescing" the ingredients could possibly be one reason why this is so... even aside from the different binders/fillers.
