I preparing my medication weekly, means my Dr. prescribe 25MG twice daily, my insurance don't want pay for 25MG, they paying for 50MG and asking me to cut for half, my question is, after few days or few weeks the metoprolol still is good or lost already the strength because was cut for half. ## No, it will still be fine. As long as a medication isn't time released, cutting it will not cause any change to its efficacy. On Oct 16th 2016 I got my normal Metformin 90 day supply. I was feeling (over the next 2 months) like an elephant was on my chest & couldn't walk more than 15-to 20 ft without feeling as though I was going to black out. On Dec. 30th eve I noticed my dose was scored, not Metformin. That's when I caught it! Never had High Blood Pressure & am 54. I normally fill 2 weeks at a time (pill containers) & nightly a week. I take 2 in the a.m. & 2 at night. So they were mixed in & not knowing what or how many - all unknown. But when I caught it, it was 2 Metoprolol 100 ER!
