body muscle cramps ## Metoprolol is a medication that is used to treat diseases of the cardiovascular system, most commonly high blood pressure. And yes, not only from the medication information, but from personal experience, I can tell you that it can cause those symptoms. I have been taking half a tab of Seloken XL 25mg each morning for the last 3 years for high bp and my bp remains 130/90. Do I need to continue taking this or should I consult my doc for a change of medicine? ## Seloken XL contains the active ingredient Metoprolol in a time release formulation, it is most commonly used to help control high blood pressure. You definitely need to keep taking the medication and consult with your doctor regarding any changes. That is still not a normal blood pressure reading and stopping this medication abruptly can cause severe health problems, such as sudden blood pressure spikes, cardiac problems and heart attacks.

Recall of metoprolol ## There has been much talk about this lately, and it does appear that it is being recalled from certain manufacturers, and certain doses. Original Discussion Thread: Another related discussion thread: "Sandoz is voluntarily extending the September 17, 2008, recall of Metoprolol Succinate Extended Release Tablets 25mg and 50mg, to include all strengths of distributed lots with expiration dates through August 2010. This voluntary action by Sandoz is due to deficiencies in documentation practices and in-process controls for this product. This voluntary recall is being conducted down to the retail level with the knowledge of the FDA. The affected lots were shipped approximately between November 2006 and October 2008. (Sandoz Press Release 11/3/08)" [1] Hope thi...

ive been on this drug since nov. and have been feeling great. even decreased the dose to once a day. but for the last 2 months i have been feeling dizzy when i lay down. wondering if it's the drug or something totally not related. anyone else expierence this? a bit like vertigo. thanks cass ## It could be an orthostatic blood pressure change, meaning your BP is dropping too low when you lay down. What is your current daily dose? Have you spoken to your doctor about this? Once they got my BP down, the doses of medications I was on proved too strong and we've had to make several adjustments due to the dizziness when I lay down or stand up. ## Current dose is 25mg daily. Once a day. Doc says it might be an inner ear problem

My husband, family and I are in costa rica and plan on moving here, however he is on 6 different meds, well 7 including a pain reliever after dissection B was done back in February of 2010. His Aorta ruptured and dissected down to his growin area flat lined twice and was Blessed to still be here for his job here on earth has not been completed yet!!! So in taking all these meds it is very difficult for him to sleep.. I believe strongly in herbs and taking them daily and fighting against the prescription drugs daily also, but can not seem to find an Herb shop or place to locate any natural sleep aid. Although we do natural herbs, he can not just stop taking the medication though. He is still under watch of american doctors just not on this trip. We have been gone now for one month and we...

dark pink, small, not tiny and round. It is scored and bottom of one side says 74- the other half is missing. White inside. ## Without the complete imprint, it is going to be difficult to narrow down what this is. I did, however, find one that could be a match, it is round, dark pink, white on the inside and on one side it has a C over a 74. It contains 50mgs of Metoprolol and at that dosage, being split in half makes sense, because someone may not have been able to tolerate the 50mgs. It is most commonly used to help lower high blood pressure. You can read more on it here: I can't be certain, but it does seem to match. Where was it found?

Been taking metoprolol 25mg tartrate twice daily and by the time I go to bed and fall asleep by bloodpressure spikes during the night. Don't know if the meds have worn off during the night or if I should be taking another pill before bed. Tried to get a hold of my doctor but he is out on vacation. Does any one else have this same problem. I can tell my bp was high cause when I wake in the morning my eyes are blood shot. ## High blood pressure only rarely causes blood shot eyes, it is especially doubtful if it only happens when you are sleeping and goes away. There are a ton of other causes, however, including disrupted sleep. You shouldn't change this medication, without consulting with your doctor, because too much of it can cause unsafe drops in your blood pressure. Have you c...
