I have been taking 25 mg metoprolol and 400 mg magnesium oxide for atrial fibrillation for about a month. Over a week later a bad rash developed on both hands and one hand is red and puffy. Got off the mag oxide since I thought that was what caused it, but the side effects have gotten worse. I can't stand the itching. Afraid to go off both meds, my doc has not been much help and I feel confused. I never took any pills before this. I am 69 years of age. I need it to work really badly, what do I do? ## Hi Linda, sorry to hear about the effects that you're experiencing. The druggist changed the color of my metoprolol from a blue round pill to a white oval pill and the white oval one seems to have given my legs a hard time walking and my hands are very tight. Would there be some ingredient in the white pill that was not in the blue pill? ## The inactive ingredients can differ from one generic to another. What are the markings on the white pill that you've received? I'm sorry, but I need this additional information in order to research more details for you. blood pressure ## Metoprolol Tartrate Click Here ## I have been taking Metoprolol Tartrate 25mg, twice a day since my heart operation in 2006. Throughout this time I had "occassional" dizziness. However, this past April I nearly fully collasped while walking in my house. Thinking it was my heart, I spent 3 days in the hospital and was tested "head to foot" and no problems were found. Since that time I would have "passing out" symtons while walking , and would completly stop, and it would disappear. This was happeing frequently. In May I passed out while standing. On June 1 dosage was dropped to 25mg ONCE a day. I am now fine ## I am currently taking clonidine 1 mg once a day, Metropol 100 mg 2x a day, and nifipine 90 mg once a day. I have heard there are less aggressive drugs. I am going to mexico and don't want to stay inside. ## Hello, Tiger! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you've had. However, almost all prescription medications can cause that. Even your Metoprolol and Losartan can cause it. The best thing to do is be careful to drink lots of water and use a good, high level sun block to prevent the issues, as much as possible. Has your doctor made any other suggestions? ## I'm taking Metoprolol 50 mg twice a day. It's been very good for me Except since I've been taking it I have gotten a rash on my legs-chest-arms is t...

Can you take Renexa and Metoprolol tartrate 25 mg together? ## They can be taken together, if they have both been prescribed for you, but the Ranexa may increase the effects of the Metoprolol, so you may need a dosage adjustment and your doctor should be monitoring you regularly to watch for any problems, as warned by the NIH. I was just prescribed this 1x/day to treat palpitations that I frequently get after a meal. Not necessarily the increased heart rate type of palps, but more so the being able to feel every beat in my chest type of palps. What concerns me is that my sleeping heart rate is normally 48-51 and my normal blood pressure often dips to 90s/50s and on the rare occasion can fall to the high 80s/40s. I have never fainted due to low bp, but have often gotten lightheaded upon standing. With starting numbers as low as these, would it be unsafe to start taking this drug? ## Hello, Joe! How are you doing? Have you started taking it, yet? If so, what has occurred? It is odd that this would be prescribed for palpitations that only occur after a meal, since that can be a normal thing for some people due t...

Can these two be taken together? ## They can, if your doctor approves, but you do need to be careful, because taking them together may cause your blood pressure to go lower than normal, according to FDA reports, which could be dangerous, if it drops too low. I've Been taking 12.5 twice a day. Once with lunch but the other around 11 pm. I don't want to nor do I feel like eating that late. It doesn't upset my stomach but can this hurt me!? Also, am I not allowed to eat potassium due to this drug? ## It can be taken with, or without food, it is entirely up to you and what works for you, it is not harmful, unless you are experiencing stomach irritation, have an ulcer, or other stomach GI issue. I got a horrible cold/flu and my heart rate keeps going over 100 - psvt has returned. I am taking metoprolol in desperation. Please help. Has anyone else ever had this happen? I can't take any medication for fear of starting a psvt. I have taken Advil. ## Whenever you are sick with a condition that can affect your breathing and circulation, it causes your heart to have to work harder to pump enough blood to your organs, so it can be normal for your respiratory rate, heart rate, and blood pressure to become elevated. Did your doctor instruct you to restart the Metoprolol? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, hypotension and palpitations.

I take a half a pill in the morning after breakfast and half after dinner. Is taking the half after dinner okay? ## It is, as long as your doctor approves and has told you to take 25mgs a day. In most cases, they prescribe it to be taken once a day, due to the fact that it makes more likely that someone will remember to take it and not miss doses. However, in some cases, it does work better for some people to take such medications in split doses. I found that I get much better control of my blood pressure and heart rate by spacing my doses throughout the day. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?
