Metoprol Tar 25mg Half-tabs, For A-fib

My previously "no problem, small-dose aspirin", A-fib has become a problem; increasing, intensifying episodes of what my Dr. says is Paroxysmal A-fib, with weakness, fainting, sweating, trouble breathing. He prescribed this medication, taken one-half tab twice a day. I used to have low blood pressure but it's been normal, sometimes high, lately. I also have D.I.P., Fibromyalgia, take Tramadol & Klonapin.

It is normal for your blood pressure to go up, when something is causing your heart to work harder than usual, so the changes you've experienced aren't surprising, though they do need to be carefully controlled.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, hair loss, and hypotension.

Hopefully, this medication will help with both issues.

Yes, the episodes stopped. I keep track with a blood pressure/heart rate monitor. But I've been experiencing all the side effects you named, especially increased urination, to an intolerable degree. THANK YOU for the info!

I've had to quit the Metoprol, due to side effects. My BP & heart rate have skyrocketed. Finally saw the Cardiologist--he has a bunch a tests scheduled. Including one that takes 4 hours, involves some kind of "nuclear" injection. For A-fib?! Seems extreme, scary.
