40 years old, female, 5 years on maintenence 80mg recently went down to 57mg and jumped . I'm on day 20 when does this get better too shaky to type. I went to walgreens and they said in allowed only 12 pills per day, not the 15 I take. I went to a clinic before and have been going down SLOWLY. 40 mg drop a day is drastic. I am looking for any resources or information about getting any kind of help paying for the methadone clinic, I know things are different depending on where you live, I happen to live in Lake Charles Louisiana. My wife and I have both been opiate addicts for over 10 years, and have both tried suboxone treatment and we have not had very good results. Subs leave us feeling terrible and ultimately end up being just a way to avoid cetox in between dope binges. The DEA rules with Sub are set in favor of the doctors, manufacturers, etc to make money. I take methadone for pain management I took a few to many and now my doctor wants me to take a urine drug screen at the Veterans Administration's lab. I have a twin brother who has clean urine, can I dilute my urine with his so it doesn't look like I went over on my script? I gave him 6 to take last night and he's going to deliver the urine this a.m. I take 12, 10 m.g. tabs a day so I know I need to add some of mine. Thank you in advance for any advice offered. ## I think you are worried for no reason. If you did not take any other drugs than he knows you are prescribed. They usually only test to make sure you test positive for methadone and negative to other drugs not the amout of methadone in your system.

Can anyone tell me how long withdrawls last and how fast I should detox? I need to get off this stuff but I'm actually scared of how i will feel. Can anyone help? Advise me on the best way to do this...no matter how long it takes. I'm not worried about detoxing quickly, just want to detox! ## Hi Gypsy63, Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. I would suggest setting up a time frame on a calendar as to how often and how much you decide to taper down your dose, until you feel comfortable going off of them comp...

I am a 32 year old mother of infant twins and a 3 year old with several chronic pain issues, and unfortunately also substance abuse issues. I would like to find a doctor who prescribes methadone for pain in the Middle to West Tennessee area because I feel like that would be the best possible solution for me. I believe I could take 20 to 30 mg daily and be pain free....I can't think of anything else I could take as small a dosage of and not hurt and/or have cravings all the time. Let's be honest here, if you are on chronic pain medication, your body has cravings on the short-term meds. If a doctor who prescribes them regularly says they aren't for me, then I will accept that. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and a back injury from my service days. Both cause me a great deal of pain. Recently my doctor replaced my Hydroco/APA 10-325mg tab with Methadone 5mg tab. It seems to work better but I must take the methadone 3 x's a day rather than as needed with the Hydroco. ## The Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen would likely also have worked better if you took it regularly. I have read numerous times about how people either wanna know the difference between methadone liquid and the methadone pills, or how people swear the pills or liquid work better than the other. So i decided too share my experience and opinion with you all. I do know how people are all different and what may or may not work for me may very well work for someone else...so this is all opinions. I agree with most that methadone is a great drug for those with pain, or past addicts, but its also the worst drug you can become dependent upon because of the 6 month detox time which I can tell you first hand you would rather die by a slide of razor blades. I started taking methadone on the streets after I got hooked on oxys after a serious back injury and multiple surgeries. I then moved to North Carolina and started at a Clinic, yr later moved back to Florida and went to a doctor who prescribed me them at the time 40mg pills were still on the market, then the DEA took them off and the only one you could get were 10mg pills, so I went from getting 100 40mg to 400 10mg which sounds insane. my doctor told me today that he cant taper me off methadone because its against the law??wtf huh!! ## Are you seeing a general practitioner? If so, the real issue is that he can't continue to prescribe it, or handle tapering or anything for a chronic pain patient that requires ongoing treatment. Under the new laws, if you require long-term pain management, you will have to switch to a pain management specialist. Had a car crash two weeks ago. I broke my neck,shattered my left foot and had knee surgery three weeks ago. I have been on 60mg. Of methadone fora year now. Big issue finding a pain killer to help with acute pain. Doctor gave me fives, have to take 10 at a time. I need help here. ## What type of doctor are you seeing?
