My dr said a law passes prohibiting dr. Who are not pain managment dr from proscribing methadone is this true i havenot read about this or heard about it eaither. ## Hello! How are you? It isn't a law, so to speak, but new regulatory guidelines for it were put in place to try to curb over prescribing and improper prescribing of controlled substances. Under these regulations, GPs are strongly discouraged from prescribing them at threat of losing their license, fines and jail time. They are told to instruct patients to see specialists if they require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else...

my mate has been rx methadone 80mg daily for about 3 weeks now for chronic pain...he was on subzolv without much relief so was changed to the methadone. so far he is having withdrawl symptoms daily and wondering if he should take all 80mg at once instead of spreading it out throughout the day. could use your help ## Hello, Wandy! How is your friend? How was he instructed to take it? In most cases, when given for addiction treatment or maintenance, it's given in one daily dose, but for pain, it's spread out thoughout the day to try to give better pain management. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Has he spoken to his doctor? He may need a higher d...

Can anyone tell me of a good doctor in pensacola fl or milton fl that can write methadone and narcos thats the only thing that helps my pain. ## Hello, Doug! How are you? Any licensed physician can prescribe them, but there are no guarantees they will do so. The only thing you can really do is see PM doctor, make sure they receive a copy of your most current medical records and then explore your treatment options with them, at your appointment. Asking for such medications ahead of time, before you're actually a patient, will most likely be viewed as drug seeking behavior and most doctors won't even let you get in the door. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and con...

Are there any doctors in or near the Columbus, Georgia area that prescribe Methadone & Oxycodone for pain management from injuries and surgery from auto accident over 6 years ago? ## Hello, Ann! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. If you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, due to the regulations that were put in place last year, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. However, I cannot speak as to whether or not they will necessarily prescribe these or any medications, since that is entirely up to the doctor. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? ...

I'm sorry that you're in pain. However, there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. Due to the regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I took a 10mg Methadone at 8:00 AM and nothing since, is it safe to take a .5 mg of zanax now? ## Hello, Jinny! How are you? If they've both been prescribed for you by doctors who are aware that you're taking both medications. Otherwise, combining them isn't safe, especially if your body is not tolerant to such medications. Both of them can cause sedation and depression of the central nervous system, so you may inadvertently overdose. These effects can cause symptoms such as extreme drowsiness, dizziness and shallow breathing, which has the potential to be fatal. These medications also carry the risk of being habit forming. Is there anything else I can help with?

I need a doctor who accepts Medicaid that can prescribe methadone I was denied the clinic as they said I need pain management for to injury ## Hello, Theresa! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. However, there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. Technically, any doctor can prescribe it, but there are some regulations that restrict it, now, so many won't do so. So yes, if you require such a medication, you'll need to see a pain management specialist, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year. It could also create an issue if you see a new doctor and specifically ask them to prescribe Methadone, doctors are taught to view that as being drug seeking behavior. You really need t...

How are you? I'm very sorry, but if you've been going to a clinic, continuing there is your only option. Private doctors are not allowed to prescribe it for addiction treatment under the current laws and the fact that you've been going to a clinic, regardless of the reason, will be noted in your medical records. Will methadone make me test positive for thc in blood and urine? ## No not in blood, however in Urine...depending on the accuracy of their screening method, it is possible. That is why ALL tests muct be CONFIRMED by a more expensive and completely accurate method, i.e., GC/MS or LC/MS/MS. The instant cups, drug screen cards, and dip stick tests are NOT accurate all the time. Many things can cause FALSE positive results. CONFIRMATION MUST be done. That is the only LEGAL and ABSOLUTELY GOLD STANDARD.

I have been going to a methadone clinic for a lil over 2 years now. Recently I've been failing drug test for benzos. But I never take them. Does anyone know if benadryl or sleep aids(all over the counter) could cause this? Or maybe herbal remedies for hep c? Plz help! After all this time at the clinic I finally got cleaned up and am finally getting take homes. Noww they are at risk. ## If the lab that did the urine drug test used GC/MS testing that would help eliminate most false positives for other drugs. Did they do a lab test or did they just do a rapid screening dip test. If they did a dip test then I would request a retest using the GC/MS method of testing. Also are you sure they didn't mix up your using sample with someone other person's sample. If they did a lab test ...

i cold turkeyed methadone at 3mgs and methemphetamines at the same time and i am getting dizzy spells ## Well, what you are experiencing is a normal withdrawal symptom. We aren't medical professionals and only a doctor at said hospital could decide whether or not you require admission. If the symptoms are very bad or worsen, then yes, you should go to your nearest ER, as some withdrawal effects can be very dangerous, possibly deadly. Are you experiencing any other symptoms? ## Yes. Probably was a bad idea.

Upon taking this med,it started to dissolve in my mouth by the time I got water in a glass and put it to my lips to swallow the pill, 10 mg. methadone with ASC 116 on one side ## Hello, Jan! How are you? It sounds like you were letting it sit in your mouth on your tongue for a moment, before taking a drink to swallow it, which is not the proper way to take pills. You should actually place them as far back as possible, to the very end of your tongue, just short of choking on it and drink the water immediately. This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I just moved to Idaho from California. I am on methadone for degenerative disc disease. And have been on it for 8years. A pain team with Kaiser Permanente put me on it.. well this was an unexpected move. . I got on Idaho medicaid and they assigned me to a health clinic(after i didn't choose one because of everything going on)well the clinic has a policy that they dont prescribe anything over the equivalent of 120Mg morphine.. they wont fill my script! I live in the Boise area... Any suggestions? ## I don't think most of us realize that taking opioids for long periods can also cause pain because your body is asking for more and (causing issues with other parts of your body without you recognizing it and has a terrible affect on your mind) not taking on time can be painful as well...

Doctors who prescribe methDone in muskogee ## Hello, Smitty! How are you? If you require it for addiction/maintenance treatment, a clinic is your only option. It is against the law for a regular doctor to prescribe it for that. If you require it for pain, then due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area? This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.
