Methadone Grievance

Been going to Nashville TN clinic for ten years. Past 5 years on a two week take home code with 0 problems. Didn't want to go to monthly. Got a dry socket and dentist gave me vicodin 5's. She knew I was on the methadone but realized after ten years the pain management aspect is non existent. Filled scripts, got antibiotics too, and took one each. Called clinic counselor to ask if i just bring the bottle in on next dosing day or since I already took my monthly u/a to not worry since i would be clean anyway next month. She said you just lost your code. Dumbfounded I took my remaining 11 pills to the clinic to plead my case. They said if i fail a drug panel i lose 20 mgs a day and code so she would just act like i didn't report it and when the filled script shows i just lose my code and have to come 30 straight days. Literally left in tears with anger. I literally felt robbed. This 20 year old girl has no idea how hard those take homes were to come by. Living in missions, half-way houses, walking to the clinic daily for months, losing jobs for being late. Finally got take homes and now I rent a house 5 minutes from my job. Literally I will have to get up 4 hours early to get to the clinic and back on time. Not to mention the 30 minute walk to the bus both ways in the cold winter. I feel robbed. Any solutions or anyone else been through this? Don't remember ever being told i can't take prescribed medications.

Please update me on the outcome of your situation. While I am not personally experienced with receiving a prescription for pain medication in addition to my methadone dose, I don't understand why you would be reprimanded so severely for medication legally prescribed to you AND brought to your counselor's attention prior to it registering in the system. Dropping your dosage is done via "team" with the entire staff along with your clinic doctor(s), your counselor alone cannot adjust your dose instantly. Dropping your phase (how far along you are with the # of take home doses you get) is done after you have failed a drug panel and in most cases, you only lose one phase (take home) at a time. I don't live in the same state as you, but due to federal regulations, I wouldn't think there are drastic differences in these basic tenants of clinic operation and prescribing guidelines. I really want to hear from you, even after all this time. My hope is you will tell me this was all a misunderstanding; that you suffered no penalty or consequence from receiving a legal prescription. My hope is your counselor misunderstood you or was a new employee and unfamiliar with rules and regulations. I hope to hear from you soon.

My clinic if you have a prescription for any drug you bring it in and show the doc or counselor and no problem. If you a script and showed it to them I would change clinics. That's not right. Check their by-laws of the clinic.
