FYI I didnt call cvs corporate, it was Walmart in my case. Point being, call them ALL! CATCH 22: if you use multiple pharmacies, even with good intentions and spaced properly, they can refuse you. This is such a mess. I got my Methadone but when I tried to get the oxycodone (which i have been tapering by 30 each month), the pharmacist said they dont have it and no plans to order it. Speaking to corporate in the pharmacy made her angry I feel. This is frightening as hell.

Well, as I mentioned on here I have been experiencing trouble getting both my prescriptions refilled every month.Im beginning to think I made a mistake by naming the place I go & using my real name.... Now that I have put CVS as the name of the place that filled mine for me, this last time I went in (after years of being a regular customer) to get my prescription filled, as I have done always, (but later & later depending on whenever the heck the truck delivers them),,,the main pharmacist comes up to me and says "We are no longer going to be carrying your medication starting next month." But she said she wanted to give me a 30 day notice...My reply was "If you can't get them filled anywhere else 30 days does nothing for me pretty much.." But nicer....It seems that now, CVS are only going to have a few like 1 or 2 stores total that are going to get the shipments for these type drugs..supposedly...I re-told her of all the troubles at even trying to get them filled at the diff. mom & pop places (she) & they always recommend u to go too...when they are telling you they cant fill your medication...I even told her about how not one diff. CVS then THIS ONE RIGHT HERE WHO KNEW ME will fill them for me...she nodded like she understood & said she would try to call to the 1 that may be carrying them next month and would call me within the next week..I am praying she does do this. As its been about 6 days I am worried but I truly cannot afford to go to any other store except for (WinnDixie, Walgreens, or CVS), which are the ones that accept my discount cards that they already have on file...(They won't take new discount cards)..
Anyways, just wanted to update you all that if you were getting them at CVS, you won't be for much longer...I've been there yrs now...and am really worried right now...So now they have found a new way to not give you your needed medication yet again..When will your prescription for your much needed medication that enables you to lead a semi-normal life start being worth about as much as a sheet of toilet paper??? Well it's looking like next month to me...

CVS IS trying to avoid the $82 million in fines that Walgreens recently had to pay. Nationwide. This is happening now, right now, and the unfortunate reality is that if you cant afford $550 for oxycodone 15 mg and you can't tolerate extended release morphine, you have to go to the ER and be admitted to 10 day detox. This has a chilling effect on those of us with searing pain. But it's happenning now.

THERE is something not being said here amidat all the anger. While some pharmacies are being tight to the detriment of good patrons, don't assume they lie when they say it is on back order. The new laws only allow the store to order a certain amount, and they can't order more until the first of the month. This assumes the distributor has received enough from the manufacturers (3 or 4 of which have closed down), In Florida it gets worse during season, when the 'snowbirds' come back and the population doubles, thus more people needing the meds and creating a deeper problem with availability. So although I have been told a pharmacy is OUT and then gotten the rx filled after my doctor called, don't assume they are lying. They don't fill fornew faces because the small supply they do have is coveted by regulars who have complained to corporate (a kind winn dixie pharmacist told me this). I hope this info helps clear up some of the frustration.

With all due respect, if you read all the way back to the beginning of this forum post ( or whatever you call it) most P.M. Legitimate Patients, with their X-rays & the ones being tested regularly and most of us at least 5-10 yrs in Pain Management Already KNOW what's not being said. And yes we are angry. We have been thru all the lies so most of us can spot them. I do know that my pharmacy when they say they are out- the are not lying, they are out. What I said in my posts was that almost every one of the others that I went too were lying... Some I even watched fill for other patients as they told others they had none. Regardless, the point isn't about the snowbirds, more customers, etc, etc. The Main Point is that the DEA has made the supply and demand gap so freaking far apart, it is Nearly impossible for people to get their prescriptions filled. Period.
I don't know what else is left out that you are missing, but I follow this forum and if you ask ill do my best to explain my experience with it. I have X-rays & all pertaining 10 yrs worth of documents if needed... Can tell you the places I've been to attempting to fill and my experiences, responses from ea. technician or pharmacist...

My thoughts exactly Maria!! And to the regulars here, PLZ send emails or make appointments to see your state reps, congress etc for your area. There are many sites to tell u who represents ur area of FLA by putting in ur zip. I got a response on the second email(state rep) they can tell you where to go from there. Just don't forget, these r politicians n will tell u what u want to hear but u at least have documentation to build on!

I didn't mean to upset you-- I too have over 10 years in pm and have seen and done the same as you have. In fact, the only reason I get anything at all is becauae after nearly a week with no meds, and unable to keep driving to more than 50 places, being looked at like scum nland even being smirked at when tears came involuntarily, I was forced to drop my medication by 2/3rds of what I had taken for 12 years. I guess I just felt the need ro mention the issue I thought was missed, but perhaps was in another post. I wasn't discrediting you personally. Some asvice rto all who cannot get medication anywhere: try to reduce what you taake because some is better than none. I'm not gwtting the pain relief I waa getting at my proper tailored dose, but I have to adjust to this because it was the only way. God help us all.

Jessica, You make some good points, I believe all of us legitimate sufferers, (like yourself, WendyLou, Stephen, Jeaninne, etc,) are all just so fed up and frustrated with this whole thing because its slowly and painfully killing our lives. When every moment of your life you feel pain, and after MANY different, (or in my case-ALL the different-kinds of shots), supposed remedies, surgeries, procedures, and other various treatments don't work, we are all just left with getting by on medication. We've all been down the 'try to fix the problem' road, now we are all just on the 'maintain the best quality of life that you can' road...So if you then remove the medication out of the equation, our day to day quality of life turns into a slow, living hell.
We all have people depending on us, or being affected with us, because of this DEA caused situation...
It is draining, physically and mentally, and it does take a tremendous toll. I know the feeling that you mentioned;going in somewhere just trying to get your legally, legitimately prescribed medication, then having people either talk down to you, look down on you, or just plain sometimes do worse...Believe me, I understand. I've been there myself, and I am not angry at you, I just want the world to acknowledge the REAL AND LEGITIMATE PROBLEMS that all us LEGIT P.M. PATIENTS are experiencing on a DAILY basis.
Like Stephen & WendyLou say, we must call and call again. If we don't stand up for ourselves, nothing will change...

I agree that the heart of the problem is the dea--if you really want to drive yourselfcrazy, go on the message board where mothers are and have taken major action to get these meds off the planet because they lost a loved one. even making a kind rational comment to educate them on the benefits of methadone for pain and opioid maintenance to save lives ignites a group of hateful messagesand kicks you off the board. What they refuse to acknowledge is that their loved one made a choice and is therefore at least partially responsible for making a dangerous choice. Comparable to gun control, removing life saving medications from professionals and responsible adults is not the solution to keeping them out of the hands of thugs and thieves. I am proud of myself for cutting back so abruptly and by so much, but I have to try to ignore the lack of relief. i had no choice but to reduce and to show the treatment plan to everyone involved.

I believe you and completely understand what you are saying. I also very much agree with you fully. I am so sorry you had to cut back so abruptly and by so much. That is hard on you def...
Oh, I see your point, and I myself would much rather take the chance and be on the medication that I am, and at the amount that I am, and have what invariably comes with it,,,,(those people that judge me and look down on me), then live in the utterly, totally devastating misery that I used to live in Many years ago before I took any medicine at all....I still remember how the agony would radiate throughout my body...evey moment of every day...
Back then, before I had sufficient relief, I was a mess and honestly could barely live with the pain....Bad thoughts ran through my head regularly when I'd NEVER had such thoughts.....
Thank God, that those yrs have passed since I now have a competent doctor who understands P.M. Sufferers... but that brings us all back around to the same issue at hand again..Not being able to fill a legitimately prescribed medication....
I never did hear from the head pharmacist who was supposed to call me about being able to fill my medication this month at maybe a different store..( you know 1 of the few that might be carrying them in coming months since she said most CVS's are no longer going to carry them.....) I'm trying not to rush her, or anger her, because she's my only chance at possibly getting my medicine filled....At all this comimg month...So basically, I still don't know WHAT Im going to be doing this month....No clue...I get so damn tired of worrying about it...I'm sure most people know exactly what I mean who are reading this...

My prayers widened my scope and i gave up on one chain pharmacy i relied on so many years. Only when i branched out everywhere did i find the blessed needle in a haystack, and this site is what gave me the knowledge to speak to corporate rep. Try calling different corporate offices and you might find what you feel is a lost cause. It becomes all consuming but i have a daughter to care for and so i limped around breathless with anxiety until i found a solution, however temporary.

Maria, it's Wendy Lou and I never found a great solution but a livable one. I live-North of the Northside in Nassau County. I don't drive anymore so it's hard for me to get around like I would like to, but Im thinking that the few legit PM Patients, that have been as -persistent as the few of us here - should meet up if we cant find a way to post out contact info, --and find a solution -This makes me nervous because like I told yawl earlier, I am a reformed wild child and my record isn't the best. BUT since my house is clean these days I am willing to continue to make some noise and I believe there is strength in numbers. My doctor knows some government big wigs and I do as well, which I think is the reason I got a response from my local State Rep so quickly. She SAID she would support me 100% and suggested I call Ander Crenshaw for an apt. When I called Crenshaw's office, I was met with a lot of resistance and didn't get an apt on the first try. I could hardly understand his assistanct bc of her strong Hispanic accent and she may not have understood me with my Southern draw BUT she suggest I call back and speak with his personal assistanct for the appointment. That very night, before I had a chance to call bk, my Great Aunt had a stroke and broke her arm. My mom and I are the only local relatives so we'vr had our plate full and I completely dropped the ball for the RX issue. At the same time Im nervous dealing with these public servants because I have personally witnessed how easy it is for them to destroy peoples lives should you do or say something that would incriminate them or make them look bad, by producing/making up some illegal activity you may or may not committed 25 years ago. Then you have to spend your life savings to hire a federal atty and so on and so on. I would feel safer if a group of us attended the meeting with Ander Crenshaw. My state rep told me to take my medical records and be prepared to explain any arrest (unless I had SALES charges). That being said, I think the meeting would be more effective as a group cause I guarantee he's gonna say " HMM. this is the first I've heard about this" The other thing that would help, is if we could print some of these online Petitions so he can see how many people this is happening to. Any of yawl got any ideas. I would create a website for this issue if I knew how to. This is not just a pain issue. There are other drug shortages for life saving drugs so the site would be helpful for their problems too. Let me know who is willing to give this meeting a try and your availability, once we coordinate that, I will make the appointment.

If you guys think this is bad now, just wait til Obamacare kicks in full force. No longer will our doctors be overseeing our health care but a bunch of bureaucrats! I've had chronic pain since 2006 and I still have yet to attempt to find another pain management dr. The first and only one I went to (although I had legitimate MRI) would up being a pill mill. I was young, only 27, and didn't even know what a pill mill was. Had never heard term before. Them the place got raided and I was terrified I was gonna be arrested because they seized all the patients. I wasnt there when it happened but it was on the news her in Jax. My boyfriend told me not to worry because although a lot of people didn't have MRI's, I had a legitimate one showing I indeed DID have SEVERAL back problems. And all this at the ripe old age of 27 and I'm 36 more. I've dealt with this for going on 10 years. 4 car accidents, 33 residential moves in 27 years (up to almost 40 moves more in 36 years) where I asked for no help lifting heavy items bc of my damed independence, years in gymnastics, not to mention being severely accident prone since I fell out of a moving car at a year and a half old. My primary gives me only 30 count 7.5mg hydrocodone a month which doesn't come close to touching the pain bc it comes to 1 tablet a day. Same script for over 2 years. I think my body had developed a little bit of tolerance to the 7.5's and I'm absolutely TERRIFIED to bring it up to him or any other dr for that matter. All these celebrities overdosing doesn't help our cause either. I'm afraid if I mention it that they will think I'm drug seeking when I'm not. I have my MRI showing EVERYTHING and yet I'm still scared. I woke up in bed this morning for work in so much pain I was literally writhing around in bed whining I hurt so bad. And of course its Saturday and there's not a damn thing i can do about it today or tomorrow. I'm tired of non-needful people making it harder and, in my case, scarier for the rest of us to even broach the subject. In my mind, whether true or not, anyone who needs pain intervention is thought of by the dr as a drug addict. And I can't stand to be thought of that way. I wish these doctors and effin' DEA agents couldwalk in my shoes for only a day. Then they'd see the truth and how debilitating this can be. I give up. I think I'm gonna suffer until I die of old age or the pain gets so bad that I kill myself.!!!!!!

Hi WendyLou, sorry I haven't been in touch. I have back and neck probs like I mentioned previously which Im sure u r aware comes with numbness in the lower extremities..I woke up one morning and tried to walk and ended up walking on the top of my foot instead of the bottom..heard some crunching and popping...Not good. Long story short, I have broken my freakin toes, severly sprained my foot AND my ankle, and either torn a tendon or ripped a muscle in my ankle and/or foot/calf..who knows which, (cuz they all hurt)... I went to the E.R. back on Sept 6th, and I STILL Cannot walk...This is in addition to the normal back and neck pain I deal with every day, so I can't even feed myself right now basically. Ever tried to carry a cup and food on crutches? It doesn't work out too well unless you balance everything in a cup holder and plastic bag....Living on the 2nd floor doesn't help...So needless to say, until I can get into an orthopedic surgeon I can afford ASAP, unfortunately Im gonna be pretty useless until its better...If it gets better....
As u can see Im still up at 230 am and will be all night im sure..AGAIN from the pain...and have been up for what seems like wks straight due to that pain. I am a freakin mess right now. I have lost 24 pounds in one month. Thank God for my 10 yr old or I wouldn't eat at all. Its too much energy, pain, and trouble....Once I get mobile though, I will get back on this site and be right there with you on board ALL THE WAY!
I have GOT to be able to walk first though....I can't handle anything more like this and wont lie, right now I am an emotional mess. I'm sorry. Just wanted you to know I haven't forgotten about you all. Just got these extra issues going on right now...I hope you understand.
But I do want in, to help make a difference, and I also have a girlfriend that's got a 6 inch scar on her neck from neck surgery where she was almost paralyzed from a car wreck...so she'd be a good person/candidate to bring along as well. She has all her records too and must walk ALL the time with a cane. She's younger than me and I'm 33. There are so many of us I just can't believe this is a tally happening in America... Anyway, over and out..before I start ranting.....Bye.

My mother is having the same problem. She was fine for years and now within last 6 months always being turned away until they get more in usually 3-7 days later. Her Dr writes her prescription as 3 every 6 hours which equates to 12 a day. But he gives her 300 which when you do the math 300/12 is only 25 days worth of meds. 12 x 30 days would be 360. So I will go try to get her meds and they will say, nope she still should have 7 days worth of meds left. Then I explain to them that the prescription is written for only 25 days. They say they don't care. My mother is in wheelchair, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus AND is in her 70s. Yet she is denied her meds and forced to cut down for the last five days to make it until they fill her prescription. I mean WHY prescribe her 12 a day and then she cannot get the 12? I don't get all this but every time I go into Publix to get her meds they "indicate" that she must be abusing. I think this should be illegal saying it out loud where everyone can hear them standing around the pharmacy. NOW to counteract this I KNOW why this is happening because of scum who are abusing and drug dealing. HER OWN son, my brother, is on Medicaid and on methadone. He gets free taxi every day to methadone clinic all on the GOV't TAX dollars. He don't work and then he gets extra other pain pills that he sells for 5$ + a pill. So he gets full welfare, Medicaid, free methadone and then sells drugs! This is all a nightmare.

Awww Maria, that sucks!!! Wish we could post our personal info cause I would do what I can to help if I could. Ive put this fight on hold dealing with other issues myself but I go to the doctor this week so Im sure Ill be waiting for my RX to get filled. Currently I cant take them as persscribed bc I would run out so on good days I cut my dose. Like I said before, I don't do the 20 store per day to find my RX, I just stay with the one and just wait. My pharmacist will not hold Class 2 RX's so you have to take your RX in everyday to see if some came in and you have to time it right and beat the others because they are out within 5 hours of receiving shipments. I've spoted this little Pharmacy called MedCity Pharmacy is opening in Yulee. They have everything in the store but inventory and it's just been sitting there empty for at least 3 months .Nassau County is really bad about approving permits and stuff so that may the hold up. I was thinking I could get in as a new patient when they open and use them when my Pharmacy is out. There's not much info on the Company online but I think it's a franchise. Has anyone heard of MedCity or used them at a different location?

-PM patients-check out the link below-
This is WHY no one will be getting their medication (narcotics) from any chain drugstore...then ALL drug stores any time soon,. The risk is not worth it for them. It just isn't gonna happen. At least there is an option for chronic pain management patients- the methadone clinic-you can get relief from pain & withdraw immediately-& most important no begging for someone to fill RX-and you can count on it; you will never here "that is not in stock." again-that is priceless.
Yes-the cost is $412 a month and it takes time to phase up; however if you stick with it-within a year you will be going only twice a week, by two years-once a week, then bi-weekly, eventually once a month. No more feeling like a criminal for trying to fill your legal RX!!! I know it isn't glamorous; but it is not as bad as it sounds.
