Hello I read your article about the methadone and herbalfie. I get it from my brother who has great results but he does the "insanity" workout and i only lift weights every other day and i am not losing fat at all just gaining some muscle so in some ways i look fatter. I am on 65mg of methadone and trying my best to dope down myself (measuring it out smaller per wek) IM still constipated and have extremely low Testosterone. I would really love some help since my brother only knows of the Herbalife not the methadone. Thank you so much.
I take 1 shake in morn w the main four supplements (cell activator, tea, multivitamin, cell u loss, & total control) Another shake for lunch with same supplements expect cell activator. I take only two of those a day, all other supplements are 3 a day. I eat no super no fat pretty much raw veggies or veggie pattie with humus. That is my daily intake

I really want to stay with herbalife but i am hoping you can help me figure out how to make Herbalife work for me like it has for so many others.

Thank you so much for your time,
Look forward to hearing bak from you

-Josh W

p.s. i will be out of my herbalfe in about a week and will start back up a "superfood" supplement diet my hippie mother makes that is really really good nutrients and vitamin wise so hopfully you can help so i can attack this from as many angles as possible

I take methadone for my diabetic nueropathy, and I too have had terrible constipation. If not regularly controlled you can end up having terrible problems requiring a hospital stay and even surgery . By using an OTC medication found in any drug department called Miralax. You can get a generic form at Walmart or Walgreens, or CVS. 1 cap full = 17 grams which is one dose. My doctor told me that you can take as many dosages per day as needed per day, because Miralax doesn't deplete the body of water. Verify this information wIth your attending physician before changing anything in you medication routine. Good Luck.

Methadone is very different for differnt poeple but to say it doesn't cause weight gain is a stretch, yes it makes you lazy in the sens that for me and anyone i know on it just sucks the life out of you, making getting moviated one of the hardest parts and if you get motivated withdrawls are great at "sapping" that motivation right away. WHEN YUOR ON METHADONE YOU HAVE TO BE STRONG MENTALLY AND FORCE YOURSELF INTO ROUTINE OR IT WILL GET THE BETTER OF YOU ONLY COMPOUNDING THE SIDE EFFECTS!!! Every person here i just as valid as the next but on the flip side it is easy to blame methadone. Bottom line is if you want to beat it you will and that starts with a responsible Dr. that will compromise between what you want and what the Dr. knows is best! I am still on it and have seen multiple Dr. to try and get on a SOBOXINE regiment to hopefully bet off for good but this is much easier said than done. I feel for all of you, i really do. For me though i do the best when my routine is consistant and diet is responsible. Methadone is very very strong nut we are stronger! Remember that the next time you want to take an extra dose or raise your dosages!

Methadone can cause weight gain, you have extreme sugar cravings and feel tired always. Your ambition and energy is literally sucked out of you. I have been on it for over 4 years now, my max dose was 180. I managed to drop to 140 by Dec. of 2011 and I finally decided I am sick of this controlling my life. In March of 2012, I had enough and decided to detox, I have gone down 5 or 10 mgs every week since then. I have not taken any in 2 days now, and I feel okay. I think it may be a mind over matter thing with me, though. I do not on any way recommend this, as this is my personal experience. I hope that I am done with it for good. I started MMT after having a 10 year long oxy addiction and it did help me beat it. There is a vitamin specially formulated for methadone users called vitadone, it helps with the sugar cravings, sweating and constipation, among other things. Anyway, I hope this helps and good luck.

You all sounds like your lives revolve around drugs....these drugs are not meant to be used over long periods of time. Drs are WAY WAY overprescribing. The withdraw is the most awful thing in the world but the freedom from drugs is worth it in the end. Drs have made people slaves to these drugs. If you want to know how I got sober I will share.

I also suffer from HORRIBLE constipation. The one thing (after trying nearly every perscription my GI cld think of, all the while discovering that they did little to nothing towards alleviating it*---i discovered accupuncture. Seriously, it is unbeliavbly amazing at relieving this persistent problem for methadone patients. It is great for many reasons (mainly how well it helps/stops the problem) and it is a natural solution that slowly starts to work and will continue to work and work (does have some to do with still going on occassion for a session).
Unlike western medicine which is all about the quick/band-aid fix (taking a medication to quickly alleviate the affects of a different medication), accupunture works !with! your body to get it back into balance. As i mentioned above, though it takes time to fully reep the benefits, they are long lasting and extremely beneficial for your physical and mental inner workings (without adding anything foreign to the mix).

TRY IT! you will be amazed after a little while how great your body will start to work (and during your session[s] the accupuncturist can work on more things than just, say constipation. It is great for nearly anything. Pain, depression, a sore knee, asthma. It has has also helped me with the nightmares i suffer from nightly (PTSD). you have nothing to lose to try it (well hopefully a lot to 'lose'-not trying to be crude;)

I am a "Chronic-Pain patient" .. I've been taking methadone 150 mgs a day (Split doses of 100mg when I wake-up & 50mgs in the late afternoon) for over 6 years now.. My doctor used to have me on several different highly addictive opiate medications.. Morphine extended relief 100 mg pills // 200 (Or 2pills) twice a day// dialiud 8 mg tablets for breakthrough pain between 4/5 pills a day// fentanyl lollipops 1200 mg each 4 a day. I was so drugged all of the time that I couldn't function. I couldn't drive my car because I was always "Impaired" I rarely cooked because I was impaired & my husband was afraid I'd burn the house down. The quality of my life was horiable.. I lost my sex drive & when we did make love usually I was unable to reach an orgsam... So my husband & I went to my pain doctor voiceing all of said problems... He told us about methadone & offered to taper me down off of all of the medications he had me on & then start me on the methadone treatment.. It was the best thing that happened to me ever since the motorcycle accident that was'nt my fault & it changed my life forever.... I now no longer take any morphine or fentanyl lollipop's... I still have the dialiud 8 mg tablets for the breakthrough pain but I normally don't need to take them very much.. I'm able to enjoy life again. I take my Harley Davidson out almost every weekend & enjoy the wind in my hair & the beautiful scenery of the coast.. We've got a great sex life again... I didn't gain any weight at all... Yes the side-effects of the constipation are there but my doctor has me on a stool softner & mirulax powder in whatever beverage I want twice a day & it's worked fine... I wish you the best of luck....

I can't eat 6 small meals a day that just makes me want to over eat. I lost weight really fast & kept it off by eating 500 calories a day or maybe 700 a day & then on weekends eating whatever I wanted It works great. I kept the weight off too.I would skip breakfast lunch & snacks & eat 500 to 700 calories at night. It is a lot more satisfiying. I know it is not the right way but it really does work.

Barbie, Please dont try playing doctor..Methadone may have caused you to gain weight but I have been on maintenance since 2001 and 3 years later I went from 125LBS to 160LBS. Everyone said it was methadone but I dont listen to people unless they have an MD after their name..I went to my PCP and it WAS NOT methadone, I have a low thyroid..As soon as I started on the medication, I started losing weight...There is so much ignorance concerning methadone, stupid things like It gets into your bones. once you get on you can never get off, it ruins yur liver, it gets you loaded..all false statments. Methadone has saved my life and it saved most of my friends lives and my husband, so Barbie B4 you go shooting off your mouth. I sugest you read the facts and unless you know the whole truth STFU.. People have left the program listening to lies about methadone and some landed up dead.. Of course methadone is not for everyone, but for people like me who battled addiction for 20+ years, it saved me....Methadone is a huge desision that should be thought out carefully, and I did a lot of searching before I decided to get on methadone, and for me it was the only way to live a normal life......

Caitlin- First, I am a fellow methadone patient and have also put on weight. I have a 20 year background in nutrition and fitness.I have trained hundreds of people ,including Ms.World. Your calorie intake is important, but if you are not eating SMALL balanced meals every three hours, you are just slowing your metabolism even more! Not eating or not eating consistently through the day will create weight gain and you will notice more cellulite. You I am on a diet consisting of : raw greens, fresh fruits (small amount since fruit is natural sugar),and obtain my protein from sources mostly other then lean meats. If I do eat Lean meat,it's boiled "all natural chicken",because most chicken has salt and hormones injected in it -causing you to retain more water. So try beans and grains for your protein source.Drink as much water as possible through out the day, making sure you are urinating as much as possible, which will help with water retention and constipation.Stop drinking juice, soda and caffeine, if you are. in addition,You should be working out at least 5 days a week.If the gym intimidates you or you don't have a membership, you can always go on youtube or research on Google, following a work out at home.Once you have completed these steps, try getting a lymphatic massage once a week. This will help you to pullout water weight, and most importantly it will make you pass any bowel movements that have been backed up-keeping you regular. Also,Take Omega oils(which will maintain your need for healthy fats.you can also get from avocado ,raw nuts, olive oil act),vitamin A(create mucous that is needed to lubricate your feces,Maybe even the most important is Magnesium. You will see a difference in your skin, hair ,emotional balance act. Like you, I still am fighting weight gain but have managed to stay at a weight that wont take long to lose once I am off of Methadone. Also,Since I am starting healthy habits now,the fat will literally melt off twice as fast once i am off Methadone. If you get down to about 3o-ish mg of Methadone, you can switch to Suboxin, which has the same benefits without the weight gain.Taper off slowly or you will be detoxing the entire time you taper and end up begging your doctor to bring your dose back up.Hope this helped....no one said it would be easy but if I can do it,you can do it.I am also a mother and work 16 hour days, which is even more reason for implementing the healthy diet and exercise I mentioned earlier.I would absolutely talk to your doctor about switching to Suboxin. Who knows,You could end up in the best shape of your life!!!!!

I have been on Methadone for 33 years. When I started it was supposed to be a detox program, then a 2 year maintenance/detox. I have been clean from Herion now for 7 years and down to 10 mg a day of Methadone. If I knew now when I started, I would have NEVER started. It has caused a myraid of health problems. And YES, weight gain on higher doses is just the beginning. You are better off suffering for a few weeks to kick the Oxy or Herion. Getting of Methadone is a nightmare. Even if you detox REALLY slow, that last jump from 5 mg to nothing or even 1 mg to nothing is a killer. Takes about 4 months before you can s*** right and about a year before you feel "normal" and can actually sleep right. Get off it NOW!!!
