How long will meloxicam remain in my system? I am having an outpatient surgery on Monday for my lower back, 20 min in and out! I took a meloxicam Friday! ## Hello, Leigh! How are you? It is actually recommended that you stop taking it 7 days, before surgery. It would be best to inform your doctor that you've taken it, as you may need to reschedule the procedure. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have one like that and it is a 7.5 milligram meloxicam which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory an analgesic works very well for joint pain and fever reducer but only take one a day. It does take a little time it has to build up in the blood system and you have to be very consistent taking it at the same time each day. ## Meloxicam works best if taken regularly and around the same time each day, but it will still have some effect, even if taken occasionally. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything I can help with?

I'm taking meloxicam 7.5 mg and I have no refills. I'm having problems with night pain and wanted to take Aleve PM. I took the last Meloxicam about 12 hours ago. Could I take Aleve PM or do I need to wait for the Meloxicam to leave my system completely? ## Hello, Liz! How are you? They are both nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, so unless your doctor instructs otherwise, you can usually just switch smoothly from one to the other. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. With the added ingredient in the Aleve PM, you may also experience dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

Today took 2 7.5 mg meloxicam by mistake for arthritic neck, at lunchtime. 3rd day. I am also taking 1 Panamax every 4 hours as I'm waiting to see a dentist for an aching tooth. Is this safe? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? That isn't necessarily a dangerous dose, but it does increase the risk of side effects, which the U.S. FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, bleeding and stomach irritation. However, you should inform your doctor as higher doses also increase the risk of liver damage. Panamax is classified as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. They can be taken together, as long as your doctor or dentist approve, though that may al...

I understand you can't take Meloxicam and alieve together but can you stop the meloxicam on one day and start alieve the next? I have the flu and would like to get my fever down. ## Hello, Kate! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're sick! Yes, you can do that, as long as your doctor approves. They are both nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, so you can usually just switch smoothly from one to the other upon the next dosing time. My Meloxicam expired 2 year's ago. I work in a pharmacy and know how to store it, so my question is can I take it again? I've been having issues with my elbow and ibuprofen isn't helping. Thank you ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? It does not become dangerous, once expired, but medications do slowly lose effectiveness over time. More so, if they are exposed to the elements that cause degradation, such as heat, light and moisture. Your doctor may okay you taking it, even though it's expired, but ideally it would be best to obtain a new prescription. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Have you had your elbow checked out? That would be the best thing to do, so you can disco...

I. Need to slowly get off tramadol can I take meloxicam where I won't have withdrawals ## Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so it will not prevent opiate withdrawals. It may help with some of the pain you may experience as a rebound effect, but it won't do much more than that. Its side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach irritation and increased risk of bleeding. How long have you been taking it and how much do you take? ## 7,5 meloxicam and 50 tramadol for about one and a half months

I have been prescribed Meloxicam 15 mg once daily for inner ear pain/inflammation (take 2 daily for 7 days, then 1 daily for 7 days). So, 2 weeks altogether (21 tablets). Should I be okay with no side effects? The only thing I have is GERD. But, I am worried about when, if any, side effects will appear. Also, is this medicine right for inner ear inflammation? ## Hello, Casper! How are you? All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, even if you're only taking them for a short period of time. The FDA lists the typical side effects for this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. If you have GERD, it may aggravate it. Are you on an antacid to treat it? And yes, Meloxicam can be used to treat inflammat...

I was just prescribed 15mg of Meloxicam to start taking. I had been taking 600-800mg of Ibuprofen & was told it was safer, along with a low dose of oxycodeine which I'm really trying to do without. I'm recovering from a shoulder replacement & also have arthritis in other shoulder. I'm very much the nervous type when it comes to drugs. How often should I request blood work? ## There is no set schedule, but if you're taking it regularly, most doctors will check your liver levels every 3 to 4 months to be careful. The typical side effects of Meloxicam, as reported by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi been on Meloxicam for a solid month 15mg. for knee problem. Want to come off because of weight gain. How long do you have to be off before taking aleve or advil? ## Hello, Carol! How are you? Since they are all nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, you should be able to just make a smooth transition by replacing the Meloxicam with one of the others, when it's time to take your next dose, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with?

Meloxicam 7.5mg expired 10/13 is it ok to take. Thank you ## Hi Babe! Medications can b expired for years and still b safe 2 take. They may lose their potency, but r safe. ## @Babe, "Most" medications (aside from tetracycline) are still considered safe to take even up to 15 years beyond the expiration date. Harvard Medical School wrote an article about this too, discussing how the US military drew that conclusion after examining stockpiles of old medication. They didn't list the names of any particular drugs, so unfortunately I don't know which medications were used in the study. However, I'd imagine something like Meloxicam with proposed analgesic and fever reducing effects, to be a drug of interest upon making such claims. Would you say was it stored properly all t...

I am looking for a doctor in sioux falls, sd that's not "afraid" to prescribe narcotic pain meds. I've had severe back pain for years, have been through chiropractors, physical therapy, injections, nothing helped. I feel like I just had to learn to live with the pain. Since having 2 kids, the pain has increased immensely, but my current Doc will not give me anything that helps. I have tried meloxicam, gabepentin, tramadol (which I found I was allergic to, though it did help slightly), and feel I am about to overdose on naproxen and tylenol, because they are all I have access to and though they don't help, I keep hoping they may if I take enough. I need something to help me function normally so that I can be a good mother. I hate just dealing with the pain. Thanks in ...

I took 15 mg of meloxicam 17 hours ago for arthritis in my knee it now very painful and swollen can I take one Motrin now ## Hello, Teri! How are you? No, you shouldn't take Motrin with the Mobic, because they are both nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories that treat the same conditions and, as listed by the FDA, they could cause some serious side effects, such as stomach ulceration, liver damage, liver failure and increased risk of bleeding. If the Meloxicam isn't helping, it would be best to consult your doctor to see what your other options might be. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you Verwon for your response. I have an appointment next week with my doctor and I will ask him what other alternatives there is.
