I may have taken a double dose of my 15mg Meloxicam by accident, albeit, c. 7 hours apart? What should I do? What are possible consequences? ## Hello, John! How are you? Did you experience any adverse effects? Generally, that wouldn't be enough to cause an overdose, but you may experience more side effects than usual, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased risk of bleeding. However, it is always best to inform your doctor, so they can check for any possible harm, if they feel it is warranted. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have consulted doctor. He checked my BP , heart beat etc., and found that everything is normal. He advised me to take one tablet for Acidity. I have taken taken light food and one tablet for Acidity.. I h...

I stopped taking my daily 80mg of aspirin and multivitamins two weeks ago when I was prescribed meloxicam because I was afraid and was not sure if it's safe. So much confusing information. ## What information did you find that confused you? Can you please be more specific? Generally, you can take Meloxicam with a multivitamin, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. But the FDA does warn that Meloxicam may cause side effects, dizziness, headache, stomach irritation, and increased risk of bleeding. But, it could also depend on what specifically is in the multivitamins. Can you provide more details? Is it just vitamin D, or a multi? Your post is somewhat unclear. The main concern would be taking it with the Aspirin, since they are in the same medication class, and it can be risky to d...

I've taken 15mg of meloxicam for years for joint pain. I can tell a big difference when I have to stop taking it for medical procedures. Is there a risk in use for years and is it addictive? My doctors office called today to reduce to 7.5mg daily. ## Hello, PB! How are you? The FDA classifies this medication as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so no, it's not addictive in the same sense that an opiate can be, but your body does get used to anything you take on a regular basis for a long period of time and suddenly stopping it will be noticeable and may result in some minor withdrawal effects, such as aches, pain, headaches and diarrhea. As to risks with long-term use, yes, there are some, such as stomach ulceration and liver damage, or failure. Is there anything else I can help...

I am taking 10 mg of Percocet, 4 mg of Xanax and 50 mg of Trazodone and can’t sleep. Should I take 100 mg of Trazodone at night? Also, is Meloxicam used as a sleep aid? ## I am taking percoset, Xanax and trazadone thru the day. Is this ok ## Seems to be a potentially dangerous mixture but if your doctor is monitoring you then I guess it should be okay. I just wonder how you stay awake taking all of that!? ## Meloxicam is not used as a sleep aid, it is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, that is used to treat pain, fever, and swelling. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, dizziness, stomach irritation, and increased risk of bleeding. What are the side effects and how well does this drug work for severe arthritis in your back? ## Hello, Jessy! How are you? Like any medication, it works well for some people, but not for others, since we are all different. This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. What would happen if you took two or three meloxicams? It sounds as if it would be okay if they work like advil? ## No, it wouldn't be okay. They are much stronger than Advil and even when it comes to Advil, there's a limited number of those that you can safely take at one time. Both Advil and Meloxicam are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories and though they may seem harmless, since some are available over the counter, they aren't. There are some pretty big possible risks associated with taking them, such as internal bleeding, stomach ulceration and liver damage or failure. Learn more Meloxicam details here. And just like any other drug, an overdose could be fatal, so please do not exceed the recommended use amounts or the prescribed dosage. Is there anything else I can help wi...

Small yellow oblong tablet with 45 on one side and UL on the other - I was told it was Meloxicam but mine are round. Can anyone help verify this? ## Hi Malcolm, Is there any chance that the numbers say 15 instead of 45? I located an oblong yellow tablet with 15 on one side and UL on the other that's reportedly identified as Meloxicam 15mg made by a company called Unichem Pharmaceuticals. If you filled your prescription at a licensed pharmacy then there's nothing to really worry about, as they probably just reformulated their product. However, if you got it through other means then it sounds like it may be a counterfeit version of Meloxicam. You can view a photo of the pill by clicking on the following National Drug Code: 29300-125 Hope this helps!

I am currently taking Meloxicam 7.5. Can I take Soma and Gabapentin together for severe back pain? ## Gabapentin does not work like other analgesics, so it will not alleviate pain like they do. It is actually an anticonvulsant that the FDA has approved to treat certain types of nerve pain, but it takes about 4 to 5 weeks to start helping. Soma may help, if your medical provider has approved of your taking it, but you may experience more side effects than usual, according to NIH reports, which could include nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? ## When was your Soma prescribed? It may be expired. If so, dispose of it properly grind it up in cat litter. Never flush expired medication. You can ask your Pharmacy or local pain management office...

Could meloxicam 15mg be taken alongside 800mg ibuprofen for RA? My Dr prescribed the meloxicam 15mg once daily. I've been taking the ibuprofen 800mg every 4 to 6 hours. Can I take both or is it safer to just take one? ## Since they are both nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, you should stick with one or the other. According to NIH reports, doubling up increases the risk of blood thinning, bleeding, and stomach ulceration. Have they both been prescribed by the same doctor? Are you on any other medications? ## Hi, I normally take ibuprofen. I took a 15mg Meloxicam this morning and it doesn’t work as well as the ibuprofen. How long do I have to wait to switch back? I have severe lower back pain and sciatica and take Neurontin, Tizanidine and Endocet along with the ibuprofen. 8 hou...

how long can you store these in your medicine closet before it is not safe to take them? ## Hello, Basil! How are you? If you are asking about a bathroom medicine chest, they should not be stored there, at all. They should be stored somewhere dark, cool and dry, like a kitchen cabinet or other closet that is away from heat, light and moisture. And they should not be kept past the expiration date on the bottle. All tablets eventually degrade and lost effectiveness. I started taking Meloxicam (15 mg) ten days ago for spondyloarthritis. I few days ago, I started having headaches and tension in my neck/shoulders. I read that you're not supposed to take iboprofen or other NSAIDS with it, so I took Tylenol instead to get rid of the headache, which worked. I also noticed that I was having bloating, belching, loose stools/diarrhea, and weight gain, despite diet and exercise. In fact, while I was doing my walking yesterday (roughly 3 miles or so in an air conditioned mall), I started feeling a little lightheaded and getting winded easier than I should have. Afterwards, on my way home, I stopped by the grocery store and was still feeling a little strange and when I reached the blood pressure machine I decided to check mine. It was high for me: 161/90+ ...

I've been prescribed meloxicam 15 mg one daily. After taking the pill at night it does make me sleep a little bit better for a little longer time but I wake up feeling like I've been dosed. I've been trying to take a half at a time to work my way up to the full dose. Is this common and will I eventually tolerate it better so I can continue taking it along with my pain medication inquest of not having to increase my pain medication ## What pain medication are you taking? Is it ok to take 750mgs of GABA & 7.5mgs of Meloxicam together at nite after a meal? Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat some mood disorders, and certain types of nerve pain. It's side effects are listed by the FDA as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and mood swings. Can you please post back and clarify?
