I am taking meloxicam for a new onset of RA. Is meloxicam equivalent to Rumoquin Nf? ## No, they are not the same. Meloxicam is just that, that is the active ingredient and it's a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory used to treat pain, fever and swelling. I have heard that prolonged used of Meloxicam 7.5 can cause liver problems...is this so? and how long is prolonged use?? I take this med for osteoarthritis and have had no difficulties with it over the past year. ## Meloxican 7.5 MG was perscribed for me as relief for bursitis. The prescription is to be taken 1 month. After reading the 'side affects list' I am afraid to take it. What is experience others have had with this med. My bhips are not really bad with pain so should I wait til the pain is more severe before taking this med? Want to know if it's hard on your stomach and other parts have had good luck but I notice stomach ache sometime. ## Yes, Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and this class of medications is well known to be irritating to the stomach. They tend to cause your stomach to produce more acid, than normal and prolonged use has been linked to conditions such as ulcers, GERD and Gastritis. Have you consulted your doctor? I have white pills scored horizontally with ZC above the score & 25 below the score. DOES MALOXICAM HAVE ANY ADVERSE EFFECTS ON THE LIVER &/OR KIDNEYS? aLSO DOES IT CAUSE BLEEDING ULCERS? ## I was unable to locate an exact answer concerning your question, but I did find that Meloxicam use can result in gastrointestinal toxicity and bleeding, tinnitus, blinding headaches, rash, very dark or black stool (sign of intestinal bleeding). I take this med for osteoarthritis and have had no difficulties with it over the past year. ## Well, no one can really say that for sure, any medication that is processed through the liver has the potential to cause liver problems if taken for a long period of time, it really all depends on your body and how sensitive your liver is to such things. In most cases, you will not find a med to treat any certain condition that IS NOT processed through the liver. It is just one of the potential hazards of having to use prescription medications.
