I am a 72 year old male and taking 15 mg of Meloxicam a day for arthritis. I think I have the flu and am running a temperature of 101 degrees. What can I take to fight the temperature? ## First and foremost, I'd recommend drinking plenty of (lemon) water to help flush your system out and keep your body cool. You may also want to have some herbal tea on hand with raw honey if you have a stuffy nose or sore throat. Essential oils, such as lavender or peppermint are other options. Aside from that, having a good amount of fruits and vegetables (during this time onward) will help to strengthen your immune system so you don't get sick as easily in the future. It will probably have to run it's course, but doing those things should alleviate any symptoms in the mean time. I hope thi...

My daughter went to the dr with pain in her ear and side of head when she wakes up in the am, he prescribed meloxicam 15 mg every day?? Is this safe he says it's TMJ arthralgia, at 15? I don't think the long term side effects are worth the risk!! ## Have you taken her to see a dentist to have this confirmed? Or perhaps to an ENT specialist? I have TMJ and have experienced pain in those areas on waking up in the morning, but it wasn't due to the TMJ, it was due to an outer ear infection. It occurs very easily if one gets water in their ears and you often hear it referred to as swimmer's ear for that reason, though it can happen due to water from showering and bathing, as well. Why is one tablet 7.5 tiny and another by different manufacturer much larger? Are they adding extra ingredients and if so why? I find it odd one can be so small and another so big. I checked and both are correct dosage. ## Yes, it is due to the inactive ingredients that they use. There is a list of them that are considered inactive and benign, with no therapeutic effect that the manufacturer can choose from, when making the tablets. Learn more Meloxicam details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for your reply. Is it possible to get a list of the inactive ingredients ? This pill has a 79 on one side and a c on the other. It is 7.5. I often wonder what exactly we are taking in a pill like this. Thank you.

I have chronic Osteoporosis pain. the 7.5 I take at 7 am wares off by the afternoon. Should I double the dosage: 7.5 am and 7.5 after 6pm? Also, is it safe to take clonazepam .5mg with Meloxicam. Thanks much for any suggestions. ## The normal starting dose is 7.5mgs, once daily, but it can be increased to 15mgs, in two even doses, so that would mean a second 7.5mg tablet 12 hours later. Learn more Meloxicam details here. However, it is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that requires a prescription, so you'll have to have any dosage change approved by your doctor. Have you contacted them, yet? And I didn't find any interactions, or problems listed between the two medications, but you should check with your pharmacist to be certain. ## Thank you kindly for the quick reply. I will f...

Can a 15 mg Meloxicam be cut in half? I have reactions to anti-inflammatory and would like to see if I can get by with 7.5 mg but already have a full bottle of 15 mg. ## Generally, if there is a score line on the pill, it is meant to be cut in half for these circumstances. But if there is not one, this can safely be done with any medication that is not time released and/or does not specifically instruct you not to do so. Just be sure to continue to take it as recommended by your doctor. ## Is Mobic (generic for meloxicam) time release ?...just wondering since it is once daily.

I took 2 Meloxicam (15mg) instead of one by mistake. ## Have you contacted your doctor? The maximum daily daily recommended dosage is just 15mgs and taking more, might potentiate the side effects, such as nausea, drowsiness and headache. It also increases the risk of liver and stomach damage, which are effects you may not notice any symptoms for right away. So, you should consult your doctor, just to be on the safe side.
