Starting taking this medicine 3 months ago and for the past 3 weeks I have had severe stomach pain and cramps. Also, unable to eat much. I have lost 10 Lbs and fatigued all the time. I have now stopped taking the med for 5 days now and the pain is not going away. Will it eventually subside? Please help!! ## Hello, Martha! How are you? Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories are notorious for causing stomach damage, so you may be developing an ulcer or gastritis. Have you consulted your doctor? You need to have this checked out, so you can be treated appropriately, if needed.

I have been taken meloxicam for a week for bursitis in my right hip. Since I started this med I have fallen on my spine. I then took meloxicam with alieve only 5 gels. Stopped when I was told that this was not right. Started taking Tylenol now. My question is will this amount of alieve be real serious? Also can meloxicam cause stomach area to swell. Seems like mine has. ## Hello, Mickey! How are you? Both the Meloxicam and the Aleve are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, so taking both is bascally doubling up on the same medication and your doctor may want to check your liver function, since you took both. The swelling could be due to fluid retention, which it can sometimes cause, so you also need to have that checked out by your doctor. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I was diagnosed with crohn’s about 6 months ago and the last month I’ve been having bad lower back pain. I recently went to a pain clinic and got prescribed meloxicam 7.5 mg 2x, Duloxetine dr 30mg, and Baclofen 10mg 3x. I’ve been having bad nausea, and still having back and stomach pain. I was wondering if anyone has been prescribed this for crohn’s pain, or can tell me what you’re prescribed for pain associated with crohns pain, Thanks! ## Hello, Sam! How are you? My wife has been taking this medicine for on and off for the past year. If it causes liver problems and she drinks what would be a good advice for her considering we are getting a divorce. She is the mother of my kids and I do care for her. ## Hello, CW! How are you? Okay, it isn't that a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory does cause liver problems, but there is a risk that it might cause them. The same for the drinking and combining the two increases that risk. Since this is a prescription medication, is she seeing the prescribing doctor regularly? Because, if so, they should be monitoring her and occasionally doing blood work to check her liver function. And is that doctor aware that she drinks?

I am taking this for extreme pain in my shoulder & arm. How long does it take for this to take affect? Will I have to keep taking it to be able to work? My right arm is still not as good as my left arm. I've only taken one 15mg pill however. ## Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so while it can ease pain and swelling, it might not relieve all of it, when you're suffering from severe pain. It is not going to act like and be as effective as a narcotic analgesic. And yes, all medications only last for a certain period of time in your body, so you should follow your doctor's instructions for its use. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

My meloxicam is white, round, no split in middle on either side and has 100 on one side. Can I take aspirin , aleve or advil withit. I took meloxicam about 8 or more hours ago. ## Hello, Jeanette! How are you? There is a round, pale yellow/off-white tablet with the marking 100 on one side that contains 15mgs of Meloxicam. Is that what you have? And no, you shouldn't mix the other medications with it, because Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, which is exactly what Aspirin, Aleve and Advil also contain, just different ones. I take synthroid but I feel very tired all the time. We checked by blood & my dosage is fine. I also started meloxicam a few months ago. I thought it worked pretty well. But now I am wondering if my tiredness could be from the meloxicam. If I think back I started feeling this way about 2 months ago & started the meloxicam about 4 months ago. Would advil or the like be better for me? I have arthritis in my hands. ## Actually, tiredness is reported by most people that take a medication for their thyroid issues, even if their tests are good and things are under control. It just seems to be a side effect that never really goes away. Such medications are much more prone to causing it than the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories. If it's okay with your doctor, you could try Advil, wh...
