I NEED HELP I AM ADDICTED TO METHEDONEI HAVE A CHILD THAT IS 4 AND HAVE BEEN ON THEM FOR THREE YEARS NOW I AM PREGNANT AND AM CONSIDERING ABORTION BECAUSE I DONT WANT MY CHILD TO BE ADDICTED I DONT WANT TO KILL MY BABY AND DONT WANT TO BRING THIS CHILD INTO THE WORLD ADDICTED ON METHEDON I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO AND HOPE ICAN HAVE SOME IN PUT I DEFINATLY DONT WANT TO GO TO NO METHEDON CLINIC PREGNANT BECAUSE THEY ARE NO HELP IM SCARED AND EMBARASSED THEUY HAVE RUINED MY LIFE I JUST WANT TO WAKE UP ONE MORNING AND FEEL HAPPY NOT WORRIED ABOPUT WHEN I CAN GET SOME METHEDONE PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE HELP ME

hey Bri,
please listen to me! i have been in your shoes, i know exactly how you feel, and i have 2 kids. if you go to a clinic, they will help you, you will get your daily dose, and they will work with you to make sure your baby is safe on the methadone also. there are ounselors that actually care about you, and will make sure that you are doing ok as well, and they will do everything they can to make sure you and your baby have what you both need! the withdrawl from the methadone is more dangerous from your baby than is the methadone itself. email me back, maybe we can talk more! in want to help you, esp if you need anything else for your baby!

That is correct, the withdrawals, if you would try to quit cold turkey, can be way more dangerous to the fetus, than the actual drug.

However, you are going to need medical help to deal with this, have you spoken to a doctor?

What types of clinics have you tried?

Bri: You have two options as I see it. First you can start to gradually start to reduce your medication. To be done with Dr's. care. I know of several ladies that had babies while on a low dose of methadone, the babies were detoxed and all turned out to be great kids. Or there is this treatment, it's actually been around a long time but just recently started to be used to detox a person off methadone. It's done with Ibogaine a plant that has properties in the root that after one dose you will trip sort of like if on mushrooms or the catus plant. But again you would first need to talk to a Dr that works at some of these treatment centers. There are several in Mexico and a free one in Vancouver. I know a person that took the trip on Ibogaine & was completely detoxed after 12 yrs of 100mgs of methadone. Again, he wasn't pregnant, but it is a organic drug that has been around forever. Still I stress you talk to more than one Dr. about going that route since you are pregnant. Look on internet, just put in Ibogaine and Vanvouver for free treatment. What ever way you go stop the worrying as that can be stressful to your baby, If Ibogaine is not for you then the first solution is your best option. How far are you along with pregnacy? You can do a quick weening process...talk to your councellor!!!

Hi, I was on pills when i became pregnant with my son. I went to my first doctor visit and told them about my probem. First they said I should go to a rehab but that was not a option for me so they said I could start attending a methadone clinic, so they contacted them for me and a couple days later I meet my councelor and the doctor and have been there now for two years. When my son was born I was at 70 mg he had to have one dose of morphen due to mild withdrawel but came home without any problems. They say the dose your on dont matter but it does the lower the better my dose was low. My son is 10 months old, happy and healthy.The worst that can happen is your baby is born with withdrawl but they give them the meds to make them more comfortable and that is hard for parents to go threw but yor baby will be ok in the end. Prayer is a must.
