Methadone For Herion Addict

Updated

IF I AM GOING TO A LOCAL METHADONE CLINIC , AM ON 150MG LIQUID A DAY SO I CAN BE PRODUCTIVE. BUT,IT COSTS ME 13.00 PER DAY. IT MAKE ME REALLY TIRED. BUT, SO DOES HERION. I AM AFRAID THAT I WON'T BE ABLE TO AFFORD IT MUCH LONGER, NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO HEROIN. I CAN'T GET A DR TO TREAT ME BECAUSE OF MY PROBLRM. I WAS RECENLTY HOPITALIZED AFTER GOING TO TH GYM AN WORKING OUT, I WORKED TO HARD, AND MY OPIATE RECEPTORS ARE SATURATED WITH OPIATE SO THE OPIATE WAS STORED IN MY MUSCLES AND SLOWLY RELEASED AS I BEGAN TO WORKOUT. MY MUSCLES BROKE DOWN AND MY BLOOD WAS POISENED. WHERE CAN I GET A DR. OR BETTER YET CHEAPER METHADONE.

Their is a better drug called Suboxone, I am going to check with two local doctors. according to the web site the drug has to be taken only once in a 48 hour period, and is a lot easier to detox from.

I AM A RECOVERING HERION ON A METHADONE MAINTANANCE PROGRAM. I TOO WAS IN SAME SITUATION. IT SOUNDS AS IF YOUR FINANCES ARE SIMULAR TO MINE. WHAT I DID WAS GO TO MY STATE WELFARE DEPARTMENT AND EXPLAINED TO THEM MY SITUATION AND GOT HELP SO I COULD CONTINUE MY TREATMENT. IF YOU ARE WORKING UNDER THE TABLE,KEEP IT TO YOURSELF.IF YOU ARE WORKING ON THE BOOKS MAYBE THEY CAN ASSIST YOU AND IF YOU ARE UNEMPLOYED,THE BETTER(SAD BUT TRUE). THE LESS MONEY YOU PRODUCE THE BETTER TREATMENT YOU GET FROM THE STATE. MOST STATES WORK WITH METHADONE CLINICS,CHECK AND SEE IF YOURS DOES.WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE YOUR SOBRIETY OR EVEN WORSE YOUR LIFE. GOOD LUCK

Dan, How or Who do you contact to get help with the money for Methadone treatment. I am currently un-employed and have a medicade card. I have been trying for disability, but you know how that goes, I have been turned down and have an attorney now. But back to my question, Please let me know the process for getting help with the payment for methadon. It is amaizing that when I was using I could come up with a large amount of money on a dailey basis, now it is hard to come up with the $65.00 per week.

I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL.WHEN I WAS ACTIVE IN MY ABUSE I DID WHATEVER I HAD TO DO TO GET MONEY. I WAS THE BIGGEST CON ARTIST I KNEW. NOW THAT I'M SOBER I CAN'T CON A BABY OUT OF ITS CANDY.BUT ANYWAY THAT WAS THE PAST AND THIS IS NOW AND ILL TRY TO HELP YOU THE BEST I CAN. ASK THE METHADONE CLINIC YOU ARE IN IF THEY TAKE GOVERMENT ASSISTED INSURANCE, IF THEY DO THEY SHOULD GIVE YOU ALL INFO YOU NEED TO SIGN UP FOR IT. IF THEY DONT TAKE THE INSURANCE OR THEY DO AND DONT HAVE ANY INFO FOR YOU ON HOW TO SIGN UP FOR ASSISTANCE,PICK UP THE YELLOW PAGES AND GO TO THE BLUE PAGES SECTION. THIS IS WHERE ALL THE CITY, STATE, AND FEDERAL GOVT. TELEPHONE #'s ARE.GO TO THE STATE GOVT. SECTION AND LOOK FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES. CALL THEM AND EXPLAIN YOUR SITUATION AND THEY WILL POINT YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. I HOPE THIS HELPS. ILL KEEP LOOKING FOR YOUR COMMENTS IF YOU STILL NEED HELP. GOOD LUCK

jenny until you have walked in the shoes of an addict and faced poverty first hand,a comment like that was totally uncalled for. i dont know your financial situation but it dose not sound like you know what its like to struggle with the disease of addiction and poverty, because if you did you would have never made a comment like that.totally uncalled for.

JENNY,
It's like Dan say's, If you have not walked in our shoe's you can not say the comment's like you said . By the way didn't you say that your mother was un-employed!!, How did her 30 day treatment at a treatment center get paid? Probably by the State, HUH. You should be more supportave since you know that addiction is a diease that your Mother most certainaly has. God Bless your Mother, I pray that she keep's up the good work and stays Sober. Tell her that the millions of addicts are behind her 100 %.
Have A Good Day,
Wendell

BENGALL, CONGRATS ON KICKING HERION AND GETTING OFF THE METH, BUT YOU ARE PUTTING YOURSELF IN A HIGH RISK SITUATION. YOUR TELLING YOURSELF THAT IT IS OK. TO SMOKE WEED. IVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN TO ALOT OF PEOPLE IN RECOVERY. YOU HAVE TO STOP ALL ILLEGAL DRUG ACTIVITY.YOU ARE CONVINCING YOURSELF THAT IT IS O.K. TO GET HIGH ON WEED AND IT IS GOING TO KEEP PROGRESSING UNTIL YOU CONVINCE YOURSELF THAT GETTING HIGH ON DOPE IS O.K. TRUST ME ON THIS, AS ADDICTS WE CONVINCE OURSELVES THAT WE CAN HANDLE IT, BUT WE CANT. THIS IS WHY EVERYONE OF US FOUND THIS WEB PAGE. WE ARE ADDICTS AND WE NEED THE HELP AND SUPPORT OF OTHER ADDICTS. FROM 1 ADDICT TO ANOTHER PUT THE SMOKE DOWN AND THEN COME BACK AND TELL US HOW YOU KICKED THE DOPE, METH AND WEED. I THINK THAT WILL BE A GREAT INSPIRATIONAL STORY TO HEAR. IN THE MEAN TIME GET THE HELP YOU NEED TO KICK THAT WEED HABIT. WE ARE ALL BEHIND YOU. GOOD LUCK.

ONE MORE THING BENGALL, YOUR RIGHT JENNY IS FULL OF S***. GO FIND A ( I GREW UP WITH A SILVER SPOON IN MY MOUTH) WEB SITE AND LEAVE THIS ONE TO PEOPLE WHO REALLY NEED IT(SPOILED BRAT)

DAN,
THAT IS AN OUTSTANDING COMMENT TO JENNY. I WONDER HOW SHE TREATS HER MOTHER SINCE SHE HAS ABSOLUTELY NO EDUCATION WHEN IT COMES TO UDERSTANDING AND COMMUNACATING WITH PEOPLE THAT ARE LIKE HER MOTHER AND YOU AND I, AND COUNTLESS OTHERS THAT HAVE THE DISEASE OF ADDICTION.

AND BENGALL, DAN IS RIGHT WITH HIS ADVISE TO YOU. WE ARE ALL BEHIND YOU, AND WILL HELP YOU ALL THAT WE CAN.

HAVE A FREAT DAY,
WENDELL

I'm currently addicted to Heroin in a bad way, (not that there are pretty ones I'm sure) I've attempted this ordeal w/ limited Qt. of Methadone multipule times and w/ out a predetemined schedule w/ abismal results to the dismay of the few loved ones I have left. A friend about 25 yrs my senior agrees w/ Jenny's assessment of her mother; X Heroin addict Vs. Methaone addict. I tried a substance my friend approves of, Buprenorphine, I failed it. The medication requires a minnimum wait of 24 hours w/o before consumtion then it takes another 12 to become effective which after al that wait didn't hold my withdrawls at all.

All this and more illict means I've have attempted over several months strictly on my own w/o a stable supply, real planned actions, or time to rest w/o working thru these times. I am interested to know what you, any of you like me, would have found helpful to know when you started IE: Is methadone really the best to get serious w/ if I don't want to be stuck 6 months from now searching for the cheepest Done in town, what is fast acting/ long lasting not an antogonsit but isn't worthless. What is the best way to get onto a program while keeping a day job, or at the very least not loosing a whole month of pay to expensive in-pt stays.

I really appricate any in-sights offered, wether or not their from someone off it all for months or someone who knows that methadone daily keeps Needles in haystacks and knitting baskets.

Truthfully I am really worried i'll be view as a seeker if I try to get help uncommited to an in patient clinic but to even my own surprise I've maintained an apt, job, and a s*** load of debt keeping well to work is expensive at GM. daily.

I'm six steps from losing the Girl who makes it worth it & litteral every thing else but she still takes top billing in this life. (she isn't hasn't and probley won't ever be a junkie) WHO HAS GOOD ADVICE FOR ME?

My boyfriend is an addict and always will be...he does not use methadone any more..but there are some things i have to agree with jenny on...i love my boyfriend...he has been on methadone...addicts say that we don't know what it's like to be an addict...addicts go through emotional and physical changes when the are coming off drugs...i love him so much and i went through everything he went through...at the time most addicts don't really know what they are like when they are using...but the people that love them see it and feel pain too...i don't know physically what it's like but i know emotionally what it's like...i went through it with him...i went through the before and after affects of drugs and methadone...ppl told him he could not come off methadone cold turkey...well he had too..he got put in jail for 4 months...they would not let him have methadone in there...the most he could have was Nyquil or tylenol pm...he went through a month of pain...it hurt me to see him like that. Rehabs will tell you that methadone is the worst detox you could get on...when you go to get on methadone...they tell you how it can help..but they never tell you the long term side effects it does to your body...i'm not saying anyone is bad for going to the clinic..i thought it would help my bf if he went...but after he got off methadone....he found out that it can shut down your internal organs after long term use...i think that is sad that the govt. helps pay to finish addicts off. I have seen ppl on it for 15 yrs...they are sad looking...as of this day my boyfriend wishes he would have never got on drugs and mostly methadone...

Paul Allen,
I am 46 years old and have been an addict since I was 17, doing one thing then another. I spent 8 years in the US Army and that is when I was turned on to Heroin. I stayed a working junkie for 15 to 20 years before one day I tried methadone to come off the junk. The first year at the clinic I still used other thing's such as coke, and various speed and barbs. then all of a sudden I said the hell with the drugs, but I still needed the methadone to curb my smack addiction. I have had a total of 62 clean UA's. that is 62 months without anything but methadone which I was on a dose of 150, now I am down to a dose of 100. I am a phase 5 patient and only go to the clinic every two weeks. I have tried to detox from the methadone several times but failed because of the pain of detoxing. I have never been to a treatment center for any length of time like Jenny's mom, so I can't say if it will work or not. But I can tell you that people are different, some handle pain better than others, but the main thing is the support that a close friend or a loved one can offer. If your wife or girlfriend will stand with you, I MEAN REALLY STAND WITH YOU, it will make all of the difference in the world, most of the time it will bring you thru the detox or the worst thing is, it will put you on the road to useing again and real fast. Sometimes the loved one that you thing is helping you can do a lot of damage trying to rush you thru the detox.

I don't care what people say about drug addicts, or people with-an addiction. If you have never been there you really don't know the way that you feel. So don't listen to them to much they will try and bring you down.

But I do want you to know PAUL YOU CAN PUT THE DRUGS BEHIND YOU, BUT AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW THE TEMPTATION WILL ALWAYS BE IN FRONT OF YOU AND YOU CAN PASS RIGHT OVER IT AS MANY TIMES AS IT TAKES. It is a very hard road but you will make it. There are alot of us traveling the same road you are on and we are willing to stop and help if you need it. Just ask.

I am one of the ones that keep trying to get off the methadone every day, maybee one day it will be my turn to leave the methadone behind me and get completely sober like my friend Dan McDevit.

I know that I have said alot so I must go for now. I hope that I haven't discouraged you in any way, if I have I am truley sorry.
Like the saying goes YOU CAN DO-IT

Have a great day,
Wendell Maddox

To Op:Opiates don't get stored in your muscles. Methadone is the only opiate that may get stored in your body, but i don't think it is. Educate yourself before making statements.

The duragesic patches are also very addictive, so be careful! They are a schedule 2 controlled substance narcotic pain reliever. I have used them myself for lupus, fibromyalgia and the pain of being insulin dependent as well. I am 47 years old and have a 14 year old daughter I adopted at birth. Also, I am currently raising 2 infants that are foster children. Luis just turned 12 months last week and Kayla turned 10 months on Sunday. I feel like I am raising twins! I've had one since birth and the other I got at three months old. I have raised about 24 foster children thus far as a single parent, never married, was too busy with my career and raising children! I went out on disability 1 year ago and I hate it. Why is the doctor starting with 75mg patches instead of 25mg ones. They come in 25mg, 50mg, 75mg and 100mg. If he starts with the 75mg then that only leaves the 100mg when you need to move up. They do come in a generic form, called Fentanyl...a little cheaper. Do you want to apply to get them FREE through the company that makes them?

NENENE,

I am so glad that you understand what I am going through all I want to do is get off all of the drugs Methadone for right now, but I dont think I can make it withouy without some help from my Doctor He has been my Doctor for about 20 years and he know' what I want to do, He is the one that is offering me the Duragesic 75 Fentanyl Transdermanal patches. He said that they are very expensive ( $496.00) for a months supply. I think I will be getting my back pay and my disability for all of the problem's associated with Cronic/Acuth Pancreatitus. The severe Diabeties which I inject at least 180 units of three different kinds of insulin, the 70/30 two to three times per day and the long llasting Novlin and the fast acting Novlin N two to six times per day. I am 46 years old and a single parent with three beautiful kid's 17 year old Justin Maddox, 16 yearold Breanna Maddox, and last but least Brandon which is 15 years old, whiich he id my baby. I have raised them August 18, 2003, which by the way was my birthday

I know that the heroine addiction is tough for you guys, but I have seen so many addicts, very close friends and family members go from heroine to methadone. It was a disaster for them because they went from methadone back to heroine and back to methadone and back to heroine again. Please dont think I am putting you down, absolutely not....it takes a strong person to try and stop a terrible disease like addiction. As a friend and pharmacist might I suggest that you look into the other medications that are used to help those addicted to opiates? Yes, they are expensive, however, you have a much better of change of first....getting a physician on board to follow you and two....applying to get the medication free from the drug company that makes the medication. I would be glad to help facilitate this for you. I have been both a pharmacist and a social worker so I think I have had sufficient experience for both things that need to be done here. if you would like me to secure the appropriate forms for you to apply for the medication. The nice thing is that usually the medication comes to your doctor's office every three months. The send three months at a time, and if you qualify, which it sounds like most of us on this web site would! Please let me know if I can help. Have a blessed day. Jenny please take it easy on these folks. I am sure that you have your own issues. We all do.

HELLO DAN IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME,

Yes I have thought about the other medical conditions that I have. I am a diabetic that injects 180 units of insulin per day, and also along with the diabeties I have Pancreatitus and everything thing that goes with diabeties.

I contacted my Doctor this morning and he wants me to come in this morning and give me a perscription for Durgesic 75mg (Fentanyl Transdermal system) to help me with the withdrawel systems and slowly bring me down on the patches. I was thinking about going ahead and doing that. I know that would be cheating going from one narcotic to another one but he said the same thing that you did about the medical problems that I have.

It's good to hear from you again brother,

Thanks Dan for careing,
Wendell Maddox

Wendall ,I wish you all the best in your attempt to rid yourself from methodone for good, but please be very careful at detoxing at the rate you are doing it especially without a doctors approval. This is a very unhealthy way to detox, especially if you have any other medical condition like high blood pressure, heart problems, etc. We are not spring chickens anymore, so please be careful. I wish all the luck and I behind you 100%. If you need to chat , email me. good luck brother

Way to go friend from Anchorage Alaska, you are right in every aspect. I tried myself to quit but finially I got the nerve so 11 days ago I just woke up that morning and got dressed to go to the local clinic and just stopped and said I quit, And boy it has been a hard 11 days but it is getting better as each day goes by. I am just taking it each day at a time.

I was on a dose of 160 mg and have been taking methadone for 9 years and 7 months and 23 days.

I am not going to say that I am some kind of special person or anything because I am not. I am an addit and always will be one so I have to be very careful in my life, but I am trying and hopefully I can quite the methadone and continue to stay away from drugs. By the way I am a 46 year old male with three teenagers, and also a single parent. My children support me 110 percent and that means alot.

FRIEND ,
I HAVE BEEN ON THE MMT 4 2 years
Hello Friend,
I have had about 6 different trys at getting clean. More if you count all
the non treatment attempts. I was
at250mgs. I was still looking to get
high. I gained 90 lbs and was never
awake. The staff constantly questioned my state(rightfully so).
I decided i didn't want to sleep my
life away, so I dropped to 125. I am
a different person now. I am still dropping 5 mgs a week. I know that
I willslow my decrease to make it
more successful. I can't say what you should do but, a Dr. letting loose
with a script doesn't smell good.
Maybe for others but not 4 me. As
far as payment , be creative. I wish
you the best of luck from anchorage
Alaska.

This is for Jenny-------How dare you say what you said----It is obvious that you are a very ignorant person. You have no respect for anyone. You need to realize that an addiction is a disease. No one plans their life out to ba an addict. You never know, it could happen to you one day.-----I just feel bad for your mother. You know nothing about addiction. Therefore, you probably treat your mother like she is a disease or something worse. -------Good luck to your mother. Hopefully one day you will be able to school yourself about addictions. Then, and only then, will you be able to fully understand.
