I am so upset about the Lyrica of 900 mg that I was on for six weeks. It has destroyed my life. I nearly killed myself, my husband and possibly people on the road because I became a missile behind the wheel of a car. I stop taking it immediately and following that I had the feeling of shards of glass in my feet which pain management did not explain nor address! I suffered from the second week of February and have become bed-bound since. It has gone from shards of glass to plantar fasciitis and now they are telling me that I have and trapped nerves in my feet. I cannot walk I am waiting on taking a test to specify exactly what nerve is entrapped. Now noticing I am having similar pain in my hands, I am choosing alternative medicine next week to have acupuncture because here in the state o...

My pain dr recently started me on 50 mg of Lyrica. If the 50mg doesn't help what mg should I take? I have deep sore stiff pain and it only hurts worse when im walking or standing to wash dishes. They say I have osteoarthritis in my back and knees and they are rubbing bone to bone. What should I tell my pain dr.? Please help me. ## Hello, Verna! How are you? Well, the best thing to do is to give the Lyrica a chance and see if it will help you, or not. How long have you been taking it? It usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks for it to reach its full level of efficacy in your body. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight changes.

I have been taking Lyrica for prophylactic migraine managment as well as neuropathic pain following discectomy of T8-9 and T10-11. I was previously on gabapentin and noticed cognitive sxs, and minimal effects for pain. After starting Lyrica, I almost immediately noticed decreased pain...I thought it was a miracle! I also had decreased migraines. Now that I have been on Lyrica 100mg BID, my weight gain has become unmanagable. I have gained 40 lbs, and I am only 5'3. I weigh more now than I did when pregnant with any of my children. I have also experienced many of the side effects mentioned in the discussion boards. I told my Dr. that I wanted to get off of it due to so many problems. He gave me a tapering schedule, but the first time I started decreasing my dose, I have started havin...

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Herniated l5s1 and holy f word it hurts. They are giving me lyrica on day two and feel like a 70 year old drunk. I had a ct scan but was denied the mri doc thinks I'll be fine. What I don't understand is why I'm taking nerve medicine but he thinks I'll be able to re set the disc and be fine. Why not some muscle relaxers and nsaids....I lay in pain hoping this stupid drug works in a week to 10 days. Thanks for letting me rant. ## Lyrica is actually not a nerve medication, so to speak. It is classified by the U.S. FDA as an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain, and some mood disorders. It usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in your body, to see if it is ...

Pfizer will give you your Lyrica for free if your income is under $48k annually for a single person and $70k for 2 people. Pfizer is a great company! ## Hello, Dulcinea! How are you? Thank you for making such a helpful post! Pfizer really is a great company and they have been expanding their assistance services to try to help even more people. If anyone needs more information, they can call them at 866-706-2400. AstraZeneca also has a great program, I received a medication I needed free from them for several years, when I was uninsured. Anyone needing details on one of their medications can call them at 800-292-6363. Does anyone know of more programs? ## Pfizer is the only one I know of, but I really think an organization like AARP should be ashamed of themselves. They should know this ...

I am allergic to sulfa drugs but not sure if I can take this medication. I Have had knee surgery, have RSD, and degenerate bone disease in back, can I take Lyrica if allergic to sulfa drugs? ## Hello, Marye! How are you? Was the prescribing doctor and your pharmacist aware of your allergy? If so, there should be nothing to worry about, because they will check medications for you. Lyrica itself is not a sulfa drug, however, I can't check the inactive ingredients for you based just on the color. What are the markings on the capsule? The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain.

i have taken lyrica for over 2 months with no results ## I have been suffering from severe nerve inflammation for years now. I am on Medicare/AARP and my rheumetologist put me on Lyrica. I knew I was not covered but Lyrica has this special coupon for a week free and then only $25 per month for 12 months. This drug is very expensive but I was desperate to try it. I tried it for less than two weeks and it did nothing for the pain - made me sick as a dog - exhausted, depressed etc. If I want to feel like this I'll stick with the narcotics which actually work. Has anyone had significant pain relief from this drug? I had no pain relief at all and felt just as drugged as if I had taken narcotics. I think this is a drug that is just a giant money maker and don't understand how it got b...

I was on a combination of Trileptal and Neurontin for my Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia pain. I was not having any side effects from the Neurontin, but having problems with the Trileptal (blurred vision and unsteady gate). The doctor wanted to decrease the Trileptal, but having done so in the past, she knew I would have increased pain. I was already taking 2700 mg of Neurontrin and I guess that is the max, so she took me off the Neurontin and put me on 150mg of Lyrica a day, then increased to 300mg/day. I am still having alot of pain, but it has only been 5 days and I am rather impatient. Has anyone heard of Lyrica use for Trigeminal Neuralgia pain? Thanks ## I have been on 900mg Neurontin a day, lots of pain. I had balloon compression. Did not help one bit. Dr now upped my neurontin to ...

My 46 year old mum died 3 weeks ago after taking 600 mg of Lyrica. She had only been taking 300 mg per day out of the 600 mg dose that was recommended by the doctor until the night she died. She was prescribed a permanent repeat prescription of 600 mg daily, due to falling off the end of her bed and hurting her back about 4 months ago. The cause of death has not been established yet, as no reports have yet come back, this is just what I know so far.

I take LYRICA at Midnite in hope it will make me less tired during the day but still quiet my damaged trigeminal nerve. Do the fatigue effects wear off while the pain relief remains? ## Hello, PT! How are you? Yes, such side effects are usually transient and typically go away in a few weeks, once your body gets used to the medication. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does anyone have any information about Mintran as a treatment for Fibromyalgia? My primary care physician prescribed Lyrica but I didn't like the way it made me feel, especially with having to work. I went to my chiropractor today and he recommended the Mintran. Anybody have any thoughts on this? ## Hello, Shelby! How are you? Min-Tran is just a supplement product that is claimed to support a healthy nervous systems and to help maintain emotional balance. It's listed as containing Calcium, Iodine and Magnesium. Thus, there's really no harm in trying it, if your doctor approves, but there's no guarantee that it will help with anything. Due to the magnesium in it, the FDA warns that it may cause diarrhea in some people that take it. Is there anything else I can help with? ...
