Hello,

Based on my research, Katadol is a brand name medication manufactured by Lupin Pharmaceuticals. It contains Flupirtine as the active ingredient.

Flupirtine is used as an analgesic for acute and chronic pain, in moderate to severe cases. Flupirtine has approximately 1/3 of the strength of codeine. Its muscle relaxant properties make it popular for back pain and other orthopedic uses, but may also be used for migraines, in oncology, postoperative care, and gynecology.

Side effects can include (but are not limited to):

Blurred vision
Colic/wind
Diarrhoea
Constipation
Dry mouth
Flu-like symptoms
Gastric & abdominal discomfort
Heartburn
Gastric fullness
Nausea
Pruritus (pruritus was associated with long-term flupirtine therapy in 9% of patients treated in 1 study)
Thrombocytosis
Vomiting

If you experience any of these side effects and they persist or become worse, call your doctor as soon as possible.

I hope this information helps!

@neelam,

Based on my research there are no interactions or contraindications listed between Lupin Katadol (Flupirtine maleate) and those with kidney stones. I can't say whether or not it's harmless, as every individual may react differently. But from what I've read, it's not likely that you'd experience any problems on that end.

@Nisha,

If the medication you're using isn't working, I would suggest discussing other treatment options with your doctor. Since he/she was the one who prescribed it to you in the first place, it would certainly be appropriate to let him/her know that it's not as effective for pain management as you would've liked. Only then can your doctor recommend that you go ahead and try something else.

I hope this helps!
