Losartan Hctz 50-12.5

I have been on it for 2 months and the side effects have been awful. I couldn't stand it any more. I stopped taking it last Wednesday. It's been 5 days. I now have swollen ankles. Is this something to worry about? What is the risk of stopping and how long does it take to get it out of your system?

Yes, you shouldn't have stopped it abruptly, because that can cause a rebound effect, such as what you're experiencing with the edema. You may also have dangerously elevated blood pressure.

Please consult your doctor as soon as possible to have things checked out for your own safety. You may require medical treatment and will need to try a different blood pressure medication.
