Long Term Oxycodone Users

Updated

My question is for long term users of the medication. I've been taking some form of oxycodone for 10+ yrs. I'm obviously addicted. It started out with percodan (they were more popular than the percocet where i;m from bak then. im from north Jersey.) the only difference between the 2 is cets contain tylenol, and the dans contain asprin. but then more percocets were being written outn they soon dominated. My habbit stood the same for many yrs, like i plateaued for several yrs. then i discovered 15mg oxycodone (roxicets). Then from there the 30's that i could remember breakin into 4's bec they were 2 strong. Now i'm taking 4 at a time. The biggest problem i have here is i need an MRI n bad because my back , my neck, n my legs are in agony. I however am unemployed n have no insurance. Can anyone tell me what to do, and do I tell the Dr. how i take the pills ?

It is always advisable to tall any doctor you see everything you are taking, even if it isn't with a valid prescription. There are certain medical procedures or tests that the medication could interfere with, as well as other medications and treatments that it could react badly with.

You also need to get help for your problem and being honest is the only way you will be able to do so.

As to having no insurance, have you looked into the various plans that may be available in your area from the state? If you consult with a social worker from a local hospital or some other organization, they should be able to help you discover if there is anything that you qualify for and they'll have the forms to help you apply.

Very rarely do I find that it is helpful to TELL the Doctor I am abusing prescription medication. You only shoot yourself in the foot. Best bet......Pain Management Clinic..With you history of chronic pain ....you should be able to get in......if you have the cash. Good Luck
