Lonely Methadone Guy Looks For A Lonely Methadone Girl...

Hey out there in the wide open space as you see from my titel I have got a kind of weird situation here yes I am on Methadone and yes I am alone with this problem in my life as no matter how close friends I have I always keep my secret ... the Methadone.
Yes I have got a job and I always had a job! I have been working and doing normal life about 5 years ago now.
I work in a hotel it is okay I mean it is alright.
But I do not if anyone knows my problem like I get close to someone but it is impossible to tell "..hey yeah thats cool and you know I am on Methadone 5 years ago.." - no way.
The person would run away I guess ... but I know people they have no probs with drugs and no one would accept me as a person with Meth problem.
So what I thought here might you read this who are in kinda same shoes like me and not really getting into a relationship with a clean guy...then there you go:
Iam P and 35 and from London. Reading books and watch 1000`nds movies! Knows a lot about politics and thinks Clash is cool and Jonathan Cauette is the best docu-film-maker! Likes jeans and t-shirt and sun!

Hey. I read your post. I think might be able to relate to your situation. I had been on methadone for two years, and it was a great help when I was on it, but it was a major catastrophe titrating off of it. I finally came upon Suboxone and it has truly been helpful because you get none of the euphoria, and there is a ceiling effect, so misusing it is ludicrous. Thanks Glen for you reply! And yes that is actually also in my mind and I am planning to swap to Suboxone however it is not an easy step as I am working and as far as I know it takes at least a week to be clean (after stop the Methadone) and to be able to take the first Suboxone. It is something that I am not able to manage with work. If I would have a month off from work than yes it would be an option. Or how was this i your case? You reduced step by step and made a swap or?

Peter, usually the Methadone is tapered and then Suboxone is started after you haven't been taking any for around 36 hours. Not all doctors make everyone wait a full week, you just have to already be in significant withdrawals, or the Naloxone that is coupled with the Buprenorphine in the Suboxone can cause severe, dangerous withdrawals.

That means that it could be something that you might be able to do over a long holiday weekend.

Yes Iam on 70 mls and it needs to be reduced to about 20 where they say I can make the stop for a good few days and then be able to take the first Subuxone. Is it worth it to swap?

Dear Peter H, I know this is an older text , but, I came across it. I feel the same way as u do. So, believe me, I understand. I'm on suboxone and feel like I'm all alone , sometimes. I can't just talk 2 anyone about my situation. My family doesn't know I'm on suboxone, either do my friends. They would never understand. I use 2 b on methadone. After almost 5 years, I tapered down and was withdrawing SO bad, my Dr put me on suboxone. It has worked wonderful 4 me. I was speaking 2 a person on here 4 a couple of weeks, but, he said we couldn't have regular conversations anymore. Something about us using up space 4 the other posts . So , that really stunk. I was just starting 2 get 2 know him a bit. But, it would b nice 2 b able 2 talk with someone. Especially, someone who knows what u r going through.
