Lo Loestrin Fe And Continuous Bleeding (Page 5)

Updated

I started taking Lo Loestrin FE on Feb. 2nd and it is now Feb. 21st and I have been bleeding non-stop (literally all day, every day). Doctor says to wait it out for 3 months... 3 months of non-stop bleeding? I've heard of breakthrough bleeding but this crazy!

I am glad that I found this website. I have been using lo lo for about 5 mos and I am having the same complications.
It is not a heavy flow, but it is pretty much constant. It is so constant, that I can't tell the difference from my regular menstrual cycle to what is called "the break through bleeding." O originally went on this, because I was having irregular periods, but this has made it much worse. I talked to my doctor, and we decided to switch to another brands, After what I read, I am glad that I decided not to "wait and see" what happens. I am 33 and never had complications like this.

i have the same problems that you are having, and after speaking to my doctor. I decided to switch to Ortho LO.

I am 19 years old and I was just diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and PCOS. My OB gave me Lo Loestrin Fe to regulate my periods. I stared off fine then when I started like my 4th pill in my second week, I started bleeding heavier than i have ever done before when i had regular periods acouple years back, and i had unbareable pain. Now I am on my last pill of my second week and I am bleeding even heavier and the pain is still really bad. I don't know what to do and I can't afford to go to the hospital!

I have been taking this will for a week and a half, and I have bled every day since I started it. I know it's not a long span of time to judge off of, but I have taken other types of birth control pills, and that constant bleeding never happened with those. I've had maybe a couple spots here and there when switching from one BCP toBCP's, but not constant, period-like flow. I started this pill literally right after my last period ended. This should not happen!

I started Lo Lo in April 2011 at the age of 27. For the first 6 months I did not have a regular period. My OB told me that I would start my period once I reached the brown and white pills. Period NEVER came. She encouraged me to keep taking the pills until my body adjusted since I had never been on a BCP. Nearly 11 months into taking the pills I am now experiencing the side effects that everyone has mentioned...low sex drive, breast tenderness, periods that go on for days and weeks, and intense abdominal pains (I never had cramps before I started this BCP). I have consulted my OB and my next step is another BCP. So long Lo Lo...I'm going through feminine products worse now than when I started my period in high school. I encourage you all to report the side effects.

I am stopping these. I am tired and spotting through the 2nd cycle. I am taking this to stop bleeding as I am 46 and do not need the "pill". I am having hysterectomy and my dr did not tell me to stop taking these prior to surgury. The pamplet tells you to, .... bs.... OFF this drug as of right now.

Judging by the comments here and other websites (and personal experience) most doctors seem to suggest to give it 3 months to get things to normal. I read on other sites that couple people went on 4 and even 5 months and things didn't get better. With the pain and heavy bleeding I had, I couldn't even think of going for a second month. I called LO LO customer service, and they were polite yet not helpful at all... basically "Sorry, this pill is not for you, get something else"... My bill from the ER was 1k, (I had non-stop HEAVY bleeding and pain from my second week on the pill) and the fact that they didn't care about the consequences their pill is causing on women made me report the case to the the FDA online. I got an email back from the FDA saying that they need other similar complaints to take action. So, if you are having the same issue, I recommend you to report it to the FDA so they can do something about this pill. Also, lawyers are always happy to take on severe cases... Recently Yaz and Yasmin were recalled because of law suits from women complaining about blood clots, the FDA look into it and they found out that the pills contained excessive amounts of potassium which was causing the problem.

I'm am going through the continuous bleeding as the rest of these post. The crazy thing is, I have been on them since July of 11 and now its April of 12. When my cycle comes it stays for almost 3 weeks with heavy flow. Received they same comment from Dr, “Breakthrough Bleedingâ€! I'm scheduling my annual checkup with a different Dr. Something is not right about it and I want OFF!

I am done with it. I told my doctor that I was not going to "stick it out" for another month. I had her office to call in a prescription of OrthoTricyclen Lo and I have been using it with no trouble. Loestrin 24 has been horrible. I also reported it to the FDA through MedWatch.

I've been bleeding now for 18 days and I've been taking the pill for 7 months. I had break through bleeding the entire time but never this bad. It's as heavy as my heaviest period and my hormones are making me crazy. I'm switching to a new birth control in a week and I seriously doubt it will stop before then. I would not recommend this pill to anyone. It's ridiculous!

Just wanted to point out to everyone this thread is about Lo Loestrin Fe. Lo Loestrin Fe is a different pill from Loestrin 24.

I just started Lo Lo and I have had a continuous period ever since I started 20 DAYS ago! My doctor is on vacation, is a 20 day period normal for the beginning?
I know that birth control is supposed to make your periods more normal with less bleeding, but this seems like its not even worth it if i'm going to have to deal with constant bleeding for next couple months.
Has anyone experienced this and then changed to a new birth control that actually worked?

Please we need to stand together as women and help otjers. Please report the horrible side effects of Lo Loestrin Fe to the FDA. I'm concerned about everyone's health who is taking this new pill.

I started this pill about eight months ago. The reason I started it was because I had to have a preg termination even on bc (we are in our mid 30s don't want kids) and I begged the dr for a pill better than the ortho pill I was on, wanted essure procedure but dr wouldn't give it to me because "I don't have kids" well duh I don't want them!! So put me on this pill. Been terrified ever since. Bleed all the time. Not heavy like others but like red blood one day then off and on light pinkish discharge and brown clots. Tired , boobs sore, depressed a lot. Always terrified I am preg because it's close to the symptoms of implantation bleeding. Which is exactly the reason I wanted new pills ( not to he terrified) . Right now it's month 8 I had my period I guess? One week into the pill pack for one day. Spotted after. Went away for a couple days. Spotted started again . This is graphic I know but if I happen to reach up inside ( like putting a tampon in) there is always some sort of pinkish blood gooey stuff or brown clots inside me. This is not normal!! Called my doc to switch but can't get in till next month. As usual terrified I am preg because of tiredness and sore breasts. This pill makes your mental health terrible!!

I got put on this pill after I had a medical abortion about a month ago. I am 32 and have only ever used bc pills twice before, once to regulate me when I was about 14 and another when I was maybe 20 but stopped taking them because I couldn't afford it. I've obviously had a lot of bleeding for a month because of the abortion, but it stopped during the first week or so into my first pack. I then got what really seemed like a period (clots and all) but it was way way lighter than I've ever had and didn't have any cramps or back pain like usual. That lasted for about 3 days and now I think I'm ending the spotting period. It went from bright red, to pink, to that gross brown and now it's nearly done and I don't even see spots everytime I go to the bathroom. I have noticed the irratibility that others have described but I have a pretty stressful job so think it's a combo of that and the hormones. I really think that it's just a matter of every woman's body AND mind being different and adjusting differently to man made hormones being put into our bodies. I really think that anyone who's experiencing bleeding and cramping after the first couple of months needs to tell their doctor that they want an alternative. I think after a couple more days, I'll be just fine on it but if you're not feeling good on it, you need a change. Just my opinion of course. I'm not a doctor.

I started this pill in January and have been on my period for three months. It has been a nightmare. They are supplying this pill to students at Universities for a reduced price ($15 flat). Of course I jumped on this and have regretted it ever since. I have had breakthrough bleeding for three months straight now. I am very depressed and extremely tired all of the time. I am already anemic and have heavy periods without BC. I have now stopped taking the pills and am going to see my doc next week. Has anyone tried something after this pill that has solved everything? I definitely need something to help quick.

Sorry, but the best thing is to not use anything..except wait until you are in a REALLY committed relationship (I mean the want to get serious and have a family type..not let's see type). Now I am not a prude, I have lived with my significant other for over 20years, but it is just experience. Now in my 50's and the one thing I regretted was using BC all through my 30's. It really messes up your hormones and makes it a problem in life later, when you go through the change.

If there was anything I could have changed, it would be that. I would have used any other non-hormone method. For your health, it is best, in my opinion, it is best to play it safe. That may not be what you want to hear..but in this day and age, it is just too dangerous.

Mind you, I tried this pill for perimenopause..just because the doctor said it was best during "this time". It totally messed me up, bleeding wise and gave me anxiety. Thus my thoughts.

I am having the same problem except I am on Balziva the 3 month supply. I have been on Balziva for about 6 months maybe a little longer. When I first started the Balziva, I was on just the one moth pack. I was on it for a while but my doctor switched me to the 3 month supply where I would only have a period every 3 months because on the monthly supply I was still bleeding too much and losing too much iron (I had severe iron defficiency anemia and losing iron wasn't good for me). The 3 month supply was working fine until 2 months ago. We had to change insurance companies due to my father's work. My mom called in my order to the CVS pharmacy where we have normally got them and my father picked them up. Usually they give me all 3 packs at the same time. But they only gave me 1 pack. Ever since Febuary I have been passing brown blood but occasionally I will have spotting. I am going to the doctor FINALLY on monday the 16th. I am so sick of this.

Well my doctor switched me to Generess Fe. I have had no problems with it like I did with Lo Loestrin Fe. So everybody looking to switch I recommend looking into this one :)
