Listen To Yourself

Updated

I had anal cancer. After treatments I suffered with pain in the anal area only. Four months later the pain doctor prescribed Lyrica. After one month I had trouble walking the underneath of my feet hurt. Then my right hand would not close and my fingers would not bend and caused severe pain. My whole body now aches like I was 100 yeas old. Sometimes I can't even pick up a piece of paper. I have mentioned all my aches and memory loss, blurred vision with him. Now he says I have developed fybromalgia and osteo arthritis because of the trauma of my cancer treatments. The more that I look back I did not have any of those symtoms previous to taking Lyrica I will be my own advocate. I will slowly get off this drug. I lost some of my youth and life with this drug they need to seriously look at this because in their eyes its the new medical drug and its being pushed out there. I just want all those side effects to go away. Do they?

Those aren't normal side effects of Lyrica, but you are not the first person to mention experiencing unusual effects.

However, since you did undergo cancer treatments, you should also take under consideration that they may have caused some of your issues, just as your doctor has said.

The only way to really find out would be to stop the Lyrica for awhile and see if they go away, or persist.

Has anyone else had similar experiences using Lyrica?

Yes, I too have excruiating pain on the bottoms of my feet, then leg joints, loss of leg strength, etc. I am 53 and walk like I'm 90. I want a walker. This is in addition to loss of memory, word finding, slowed cognition, plaster dry mouth and eyes. Just had a root canal. TRUST YOURSELF. I've had my care at the "Nation's Finest", and none of this was taken seriously after reporting it more than once. Finally I got mad - wrote a letter and demanded in person that it be taken seriously. I just weaned off Lyrica. We'll see what gets better. TRUST YOURSELF.
