Has anyone experienced a burning sensation at the tip of the breastbone and under the ribs that travels up to the throat and jaw? ## Hello, Sunshine! How are you? That could be due to something such as GERD, which is when excess stomach acid refluxes up into your esophagus. But that is just one possibility, there are other health issues that may cause such symptoms. Have you consulted your doctor? That would be the best way to get to the root of the problem. Does it happen at any particular time, such as after you eat? Or after indulging in alcoholic beverages?

Hi, I know there is another topic for Lexapro withdraw but I don't feel I can get proper replies posting there because there are more than 2,000 messages there. I have been on lexapro 20mg for over 4 years for anxiety and it has helped me a lot alongside therapy. I am definitely at a much better place now, and my therapist has recommended I didn't need to see him anymore, specially because I was going for couple therapy with my Fiance which also helped us a lot. The couples therapist also recommended that we didn't need the sessions anymore. I mentioned to my doctor (psychiatrist) that lexapro has really affected my libido. I asked him if I could start tapering it down and he suggested I took half (10mg) from now on. This was several months ago and I was in the process of re...

Today I visited my new family doctor. I began to explain to her that after starting my new job a year and half ago, I began to have the "normal signs of depression"- no motivation to do the things I normally loved doing (actually, no motivation to do much of anything), fatigue, memory loss, brain fog, not much of a libido (I'm 24 with a fiancé), etc. but never suicidal. I have a wonderful life, seemingly I am happy with everything, a great family so I guess depression actually isn't something one must "admit" and have a "bad life" which I had generally thought. (That's ignorance I know but now I do understand depression a bit more after reading up on it.) Anyway, my doc suggested Lexapro for an antidepressant and anxiety med. (Currently, I've...

I take 10 mg Lexapro, 3 mg Melatonin, and Loratab 10/500 daily and tested pos for Benzo.. . Can any of these medications cause the false positive results? ## Is there any "common" way, (like lots of water or vitamins) to flush benzos out of your system within 20 days? I took 1-2mg of xanax for a week and I have a UA with my suboxone Dr in 20 days. I found out (internet) just how dangerous the xanax can be when taken with suboxone so I wouldn't do that again but yikes, I have already had a false pos for eating poppy seeds, and a false pos for THC! I never use weed, EVER, hate, hate, hate the feeling it gives me so I don't need a pos for benzo's, especially after the last two. And this time I am guilty. I took em and now Im kinda freakin out. Help, please. Oh and I als...

I first started having extreme anxiety after I had my first child at 24. I had postpartum depression for 2 months it was horrible I couldn't go out in public I felt dizzy all the time, confused, panicked that someone would hurt my baby, it was horrible. I took the next steps and joined forums for support and found a physiatrist for help. I was first put on Effexor and it was horrible it made me feel worse, then my Dr put me on Lexapro 10mg and by the third week my life was back in track again. I felt happy, alive and back to normal. Until I started to experience full panic attacks driving etc it was horrible my anxiety was gone but not my panic attacks, so Dr put me on 20mgs and it worked I stopped having panic attacks and weaned my self off the drug until I had self control for 7 y...

I took these atablets the same day and fainted. Why ## Hi KeKe, From what I could gather, there are potentially unsafe interactions found between Lexapro and Fluconazole. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Talk to your doctor before using escitalopram together with fluconazole. Combining these medications may increase the blood levels and effects of escitalopram. You may have an increased risk of developing side effects, including a rare but serious condition called the serotonin syndrome, which may include symptoms such as confusion, hallucination, seizure, extreme changes in blood pressure, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, muscle spasm or stiffness, tremor, incoordination, stomach cramp, nausea, vomiting,...

can you identify what this pill is its small oval shape with E & L marked on it ## Hi Joe, The closest match I can find is Lexapro (10 mg); which is a white round pill marked F | L on one side and 10 on the other side. I have however, read that the pill you have may very likely be a "non U.S. version" of Lexapro called Cipralex. Does that sound familiar to you? Lexapro (escitalopram) is an antidepressant used for the treatment of major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder?; other indications include social anxiety disorder, panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Escitalopram is sometimes prescribed off-label for the treatment of other conditions: social anxiety disorder, panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. There is some evidence favou...

I've been on esco-(whatever it's called) for nearly five weeks. I started on Loxalate (the Australian brand of Lexapro) and lost the nausea and panic within a week. (The reason I'm on it is because I had a "nervous breakdown"- a spontaneous pain in the arse!) So anyway, after raging online to find out what the hell a nervous breakdown actually is and how to treat it, I found that the drug of choice was lexapro. I, originally taking the cheaper option, decided that when my pack was finished, I'd go Canadian (eh). I'm almost a week into it and it's definitely not as "chilled" as the cheaper Australian alternative. I feel wierd. Loxalate made me feel normal, and lexapro makes me feel- thr best way to describe it (and the only way I can describe it) i...

I have been taking Lexapro for a month now and while my anxiety is less (but not totally gone ) I am suffering side effects like exhaustion, no energy and regular dizzy spells. My doctor has now increased my dosage from 10 mg to 20mg and I feel nervous that taking the increased dosage will increase the unwelcome side effects. Has anyone any experience with taking an increased dosage ## Hi, I'm sorry that you're having such problems. And yes, it can take 4 to 6 weeks for the side effects to taper off in severity, as your body adjusts to the medication and they will usually intensify whenever you raise the dosage. Why did your doctor increase the dosage already? You've really barely hit the point of it reaching its full level of effectiveness in the body to know how much it...

Im on day three of cipralex and I feel so horrible. I have no energy, I feel like I have a bad flu and I woke up with extreme vertigo this morning. Anyone else experience this? ## Wow, Shawnie! I'm sorry, that's awful. Cipralex contains the active ingredient Excitalopram, which is an SSRI class antidepressant and it can cause symptoms such as this as side effects. If they get severe or don't abate in a few weeks, you'll need to contact your doctor, since it may not be the right medication for you to take. Learn more Cipralex details here. How are you feeling today? ## Still feel dizzy. I was prescribed it because of constant dizziness for over a month so my dr thinks its anxiety related. and told me to give it a try. Only I have all these side effects which the dr said s...

This pill is about 3/16 of an inch round and about an 1/8 inch thick with the number 10 on one side and a score mark on the other side. I have found nothing in my searches trying to ID it. ## Hello, The closest match I've been able to find is Lexapro (10 mg); which is an antidepressant used for the treatment of major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder; other indications include social anxiety disorder, panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It is a round white pill with the imprint 10 on one side and a score in between the letters F L on the back, like this: F | L Maybe the F L got smudged off at some point? does any one have positive reactions to lexapro for anxiety I was given this med but havent started it it and worried because everyone is wanting to get off, why? Did it not help, make you worse please let me know ## mommy5, by not taking the lexapro that was given you it's quite likely that you have already saved yourself from having to contend with the possible added anxiety of how to later get off it, like the other folk that you mention wanting to get off it. I've been prescribed and given drugs in the past but never took some of them. It may be possible for you, with some therapy, even self-help therapy, as many others have done, to find out what is actually causing your anxiety. I believe that just about everyone who has lived for more than just a couple years has had high...

Thank you to all who post here. We can't get truthful or helpful support from most Drs. I am in Costa Rica and it is very difficult as I don't have a Psych. Dr. and the GP speaks little English. I have been on AD's since back in the day when there were only Tricyclics. Done them all. For the last 3 years have been on 150mg Wellbutrin and 10mg. Lexapro. GP started me on 20mg and I did that for a year and decided I wanted to try lesser dose and save a little $. I have since decided it no longer helps me and think the Wellbutrin can do the trick solo. On Sept. 8, I began 5 mgs. did that for 2 weeks, suffered the nausea, sleepiness, dizziness, weepiness short tempered, also started the Omega Oil Caps, B complex, ginger root tea, multivit. and dramamine. Then did every other day d...

I took 10mg of Lexapro about 7 years ago for a few months and it worked great. I was able to get off it for 7 years and now my anxiety is back and my dr. put me back on 10 mg of Lexapro (because we knew it had worked in the past) and I feel like my heart is going to explode when I take it. I get a constant ache/pain right over my heart and a pain in my left elbow that is constant. I also feel like my joints are stiff and hard to move. I have stopped taking Lexapro for fear that the side effects are dangerous. Any ideas why I was able to take it 7 yrs. ago and now I can't tolerate it? ## HI KTB, The only conclusion that I can come to is that you may have been using a different brand of Lexapro that contained different inactive ingredients. Or, perhaps your body chemistry/lifestyle ch...

I take lexapro every day and it has been amazing for me, I went from 10-20-30 Mgs and 30mg was finally the dose that made me feel normal again. Usually all my anxiety like the beginning of school was no longer there but a couple months later I decided to bump up to 40 mg because 30 made me almost 100 percent feeling good so I took 40 mg and it was a nightmare brain fogs and everything so after 2 weeks of it I switched back to 30 and felt better but for the past few months I haven't felt like I did in a while or how I used to feel on 30 my mood is way more mad and angry I'm feeling anxious symptoms more so I want to know what everyone thinks on my situation or advice ## It is normal for your body to get used to any medication, after awhile. This may sound REALLY weird. I have been on Lexapro for about 1.5 years. I have been on almost EVERY anxiety medication since the age of 11 (I'm now 26). My anxiety has never been more manageable than it is on Lexapro, although environmental and other factors could play a role. However, I would like some advice on a certain side effect that I have been noticing lately. I'm not sure how to explain it... But it has become almost nearly IMPOSSIBLE for me to soak in my surroundings, a situation, my life. This may sound confusing but my brain won't allow me to really process my life. I almost feel like I'm going through the motions. For instance, I was on vacation and surrounded by beautiful scenery so I tried to look around and really take it all in so I could remember it an...

Started on Prozac back in 1995 and switched to Lexapro in 2002. Weaned off Lexapro last July with Dr.'s guidance and in a month I was experiencing audio hypersensitivity and then a few weeks later tactile sensitivity. The audio problem was all typical daytime noises including the sound of my own voice were unpleasant and irritating. Then the tactile problem kicked in and I was itchy and everything I touched was unpleasant and being touched was like being scrubbed with a brillo pad. Then came the insomnia for a week. After three months of suffering I caved in and took my first 10 milligram Lexapro this past Tuesday. In the matter of five hours my symptoms were reduced by 50% and I slept reasonably that evening. Four days later all symptoms are gone in the morning and as the day wears...
