After looking at all the possible side effects associated with Levaquin (Levofloxacin), I think there is a high chance that it did cause your arthritis to flare up.

A few side effects that could have caused this are:
-tingling or swelling of the face, neck, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
-joint or muscle pain
-unusual bruising or bleeding
-flu-like symptoms
-uncontrollable shaking of a part of the body
-pain, burning, tingling, numbness, and/or weakness in a part of the body

I agree with David that Levaquin could be making your arthritis symptoms worse. Levaquin is in a class of drugs called the Quinolone Antibiotics. These antibiotics are well known to cause joint, tendon and muscle problems.

If you are having what seems to be an 'arthritis flare up' from Levaquin, I would suggest that you go to your doctor and have him put you on an alternative antibiotic. The joint pain that you feel could actually be something more serious such as tendon damage, and getting off of the Levaquin as soon as possible would be prudent just in case the pain you are feeling really is something more serious.
