Leflunomide Availability

Why is the availability of leflunomide nonexistant? No pharmacy in my area (southern Nevada) has been able to supply it to me since February 2011.

What happened to leflunomide? It is not available anywhere.

When I contacted the manufacturer of both Arava and Leflunomide I was told that the patent on Arava had expired. If some other company picks up the formula Leflunomide will be manufactured again otherwise only Arava will be available. Thus the cost for a 90 day supply goes from around 200 dollars to around 1600, Pretty tough when one is in the donut hole but makes a little too much to qualify for payment assistance. Big corporate rip off for those who can not take (or afford) any other RH meds.

As of August, Apotex Pharmaceuticals announced that they had relaunched production of them, however, there were still some problems meeting demand.

The shortages were reported to the FDA as being due to a lack of the raw materials needed to manufacture this medication.

Have you been able to find them from a local pharmacy, yet?
