Jalra M 50 Mg + Tribet 2

Updated

For my Diabetes Melitus which was detected 4 years ago when I was 67 years old I have, under doctor's supervision, been through a whole range of oral diabetis medicines which have basically been Metformon 500 mg tablets with various additives. These have not been of much help. My present figures are 188 (fasting) and 253 ( 2 hours after eating). The latest medicines I am on are Jalra M 50 mg + Tribet 2, one of each twice daily at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. I would like to know how effective other diabetics have found this combination of drugs, and what side effects can be expected.

Jalra-M contains the active ingredients Vidagliptin and Metformin, both of which are oral antidiabetic medications.

Tribet-2 contains Glimepiride and Metformin, both of these are also used to help lower and control blood sugar levels.

The Side effect profile is very similar for both and can include: nausea, dizziness, flatulence and weight changes.

As to your high sugar readings, there are a few different things that could be affect that.

Are you watching your diet and the amount of sugar you take in at meals? When you are diabetic, you have to keep your diet as low in sugar, as possible, to help your medications work better. And, just like sodium, some form of sugars can be found in almost anything you eat.

My suggestion would be to keep a food diary, write down exactly what you eat and the relevant blood sugar readings. This could enable you to find a pattern and determine which foods are causing your sugar to raise too high and then, in the future, you'll know to avoid them.

Additionally, these medications may not be as effective if you aren't taking them properly. Ideally, rather than taking them at arbitrary times of day, such as 8am and 8pm, they should be taken just before your meals.

So, the first dosage should be taken just before you sit down to eat breakfast and the second dose should be taken just before you sit down to eat dinner.

Another factor that could be causing a problem is the amount of fat in your diet. If you are eating a lot of foods that are high in fat, then this will also cause elevated blood sugar levels.

Fats tend to coat the cells in your body, preventing them from absorbing the sugars from your foods, which they need to burn for energy. This means that most of the sugars that you take in are just left to run rampant in your blood and such a thing can cause damage to your vital organs. Thus, your diet needs to be as low in fat as possible.

Are there any other questions I can help with?

The combination of Jalra M50 and Tribet-2 one each morning and evening seems to work for me. Last figures were 113 fasting and 109 post eating. I must repeat the tests as it is over a month now. What do you think about a home sugar measuring kit - the one where one pricks a fingertip and uses a special strip of paper and a reader to see the blood sugar reading ? I am petrified of needles and have so far avoided this procedure but friends tell me that checking sugar levels once a month is simply not good enough. I must try and keep a food log - I don't eat too much of either sweets or fats but must admit tha my (one) piece of toast at breakfast IS buttered, and I DO eat a fruit such as a banana or an apple at breakfast time. I also have two Oz of alcohol before dinner. I walk about 3.5 Km 5 times a week. and have weighed 90Kg - I am 5 foot 10 inches - for the past couple of years at least. Would you suggest I change any / all of these inputs drastically ?

I am48 , female, height 5" , weight 79 kgs, type-2 diabetic(as my father too was a diabetic and expired at 70 yrs.of age) with glucose fasting 104, pp 236 as of Last month, and from the last 4-5 years have been taking Tab.triglimisave, Tab.Glucobay 25 mg, Atorsave-F with Cap.Rosvit and Cap Jamvital - all one each every day.No complications till now so far. But it was informed by the pharmacist that the Tab.Triglimisave is unavailable, being banned by the Govt. What substitute medicine in place of triglimisave should I take, Will Jalra-M or any such other medicine is ok. Pl.suggest since I feel taking only Tab.Glucobay without Metformin may be problemetic(or can glucobay alone can be taken? ). As I am unable to contact my family Dr., please urgently suggest?
