Is Suboxone Really Right For Me???

I'm quite upset and feel like the rug was pull out from under me. I've had five back fusions via three surgies (4 cervical & 1 Lumbo-sacral ) , one surgery for silicone toxicity/ removal, 2-surgies on my hands, 1- surgery on my bladder. I've already detox-ed myself off of lortab, phentyl patches prior to each surgery.. My problem now is managing my chronic pain that's left over...I'm better since the surgeries but far from whole pain wise. I hurt so bad that I can't shower, or dress without help if I don't take some form of pain medication. I mearly use 30mg morphine extended release three time a day, as needed at night 1- 10mg percocet or valium to help sleep or decrease muscle spasms. I just don't feel like I meet the critiera of abuse to warrant me using Suboxone. Plus my doc. told me I'm always gonna have to be on some pain mgmt Due to my Degenerative Disc disease in my back. I feel like he has lied to me and am extremely upset. I don't crave my pills, I don't look at the clock waiting for the min. to come to take them. And two if this is a concern why not back down doseage mg/ tid to bid/ ect...of my current meds first since suboxone is clearly addictive too. Plus I'm told I'll be taking suboxone along with my pain medications just meds at a lower dose...I haven't read that anywhere either it's suboxone & quit or No suboxone in the literature....Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I do take suboxone and wanted to let u know that if you have pain u dont wanna take suboxone its main usage is to detox people. Yes some people try to get high from it, and some people believe it is a mild pain reliever but i promise you you are better off with ur other pain meds.I am very sorry to hear u are in so much pain but i want to inform you suboxone is an oppiate blocker so if ur taking percoset or vicodin or any opiate it will block u from feeling that pain reliever. Yes it is highly addictive and can be extremely expensive, I know people that have been on it for ten years. I hope this helps you :) let me know ....

Some people do get great pain relief from Suboxone, since it does contain the potent opiate Buprenorphine, along with the Naloxone.

However, as Shaylab said it does block other opiates from working, since it was intended to prevent the abuse of other opiates, while someone is being treated with it.

Along with its risk of being habit forming, the FDA also warns that it may cause other side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
