I GET DRUG TESTED EVERY 2 WEEKS AND I HURT MY BACK AND MY AUNT GAVE ME A SOMA AND I HAVE A 12 PANEL DRUG SCREEN URINE TEST AND I WANNA MAKE SURE I'M NOT GONNA FAIL MY DRUG TEST.

TX: im sorry you are going through all this over a fairly benign script like soma. i never said soma wouldnt EVER show up, but no, soma does NOT show up on a 5-panel test. now i am realizing that these cheaper 5-panel tests are probably not that common. especially since you live in a border state like TX, you would probably be getting a 10 or 12 panel test at least. then EVERYTHING shows up. here in CO, the probation dept. seems to be using the 5-panel tests. trying to stay within their budget.

border states and coastal states like TX have more money in their budgets for drug-enforcement costs. every one of these "panels" they add to the tests increases the costs to whomever is involved. so since they have more money in their budgets for drug enforcement, they can afford to do more "panels", test for more things. again, i think it sucks you are going through this and i hope it works out for you.

JDG: I am 99.9% sure that a 10-panel test would show somas. The way it works is this: a basic 5-panel test will only show what they call "drugs of abuse", which are cocaine, heroin (opioids), amphetamine/methamphetamine, marijuana, and LSD/PCP/psychedelics. Pharmaceuticals such as xanax, somas, phenobarbital, etc. get added as they add "panels". So a 10-panel? Like i said, I'm ALMOST 100% sure somas would be on there. I wouldn't chance it.

I am on methadone I have heard that they might not show up but that somehow it effects the u a test. The persons weren't real clear on how they effect the test just messes with it somehow? Do you hopefully have a answer for me? Thanks

it depends on how many panels are on your test. but most likely yes. from what im hearing, the 5-panel test, which would probably not show methadone or buprenorphine, is not very common. can you find out how many 'panels' the test is?

It is not a narcotic because it can be called in over the phone and no narcs can be phoned in in FL since the pill mill crack down of 2011. I also hv had test and it has never shown up and my methadone clinic does a much more severe test than the normal panel test of most places.

SKEE: Most likely yes on a 12-panel. Whether something is a controlled substance isn't always the determining factor. There are things that are controlled substances that would not show up like certain muscle relaxers. But a 12 -panel is a pretty high number so probably. Also, if you can find out if it is a GCMS test? Then pretty much EVERYTHING shows up.

I think this is what recently happened to me.I can't think of anything else that could have caused positive screening for opiates. I am on methadone program and the positive test just made me take ten steps back.

SHERRYBOND: Percocet will always show up on a drug test because it is an opioid. Opioids are one of the 5 basic things that show up on every test. Soma will show up on most, but not all.

Isn't it sickening what the DEA & CDC are doing to people who really need opiates? Read your post here & really 'identified' w/U-! I've seen a lot of bad case scenarios & have jumped through a mass amount of hoops in my life~ guess I'm lucky to be able to be prescribed what I get for pain management; have only taken 2- 30 mg. tabs 2 x's a day (of morph) for 6 yrs. now & was at a methadone clinic (juice-bar!) for 19 yrs. Sooo yeah, have been around the proverbial block.. I know of Doctors giving people 'mini' amounts- of very weak opiates- for amputated limbs; cancer, etc. etc. *As 1 Dr. explained to me: "We used to prescribe opiates 20 yrs. ago for everyone, but now we're told not to". The CDC/DEA calling the shots, threatening Dr's. w/the loss of their licenses to practice medicine.. I talked to a lady who told me her Dr. cut her off her percocet prescription; bcuz she gave a clean UA- no percocet in her system means "Oh! She's selling it" Be that the case or not- Dr's. have to tuck their tails! Believe the worst~ bcuz of.. Like U mentioned- kids taking their parents meds, Prince & Michael Jackson overdosing, etc. IS alarming to the powers that be- Well.. that being said- WHY don't they start handing out "Lock boxes" to store their meds in- like the methadone clinics have people do?! I'm thinking they oughta start building huge methadone clinics nationwide; as people get the boot off their meds-turn to heroin- & wind up needing an alternative.. (There are other new alternatives besides methadone, as most people know) I happen to believe God put the Opium poppy here specifically for us as pain relief! He put other natural medicinals in specific places- where people need the benefits- So we'll see where this all leads, hope for the best~ but expect the worst.....

Comparison between Soma & "Ludes" is Ludicrous!!! Well, maybe IF as you say- 4 Somas @ once- that's over-doing it & would knock most people out.. If Soma is taken 1 at a time, maybe twice a day (as I used to be prescribed) is not gonna make you bounce off the walls. IF you've experienced 'Diabetic neuropathy', you'd know Soma really helps, it used to be prescribed as a muscle relaxer, now is pegged as a barbiturate.. Kids steal them from their parents, O.D. & commit Hari Kari- or there's people like you, telling others it's like "ludes in the 70's; take em w/grapefruit juice".. Some people need to keep their ill intended opinions to themselves... Gimme a break.

Soma has been declared a narcotic for at least 2 yrs...whether it shows up on a dip test I have no idea. My pain management Dr did a (i believe 12 pt) it showed up the opiates and what kind.. Benzo's.. Methamphetamine ..coke... Marijuana... I do not recall it showing soma...?? IT IS CLASSIFIED AS A NARC. I must go to the Dr pick up my script and hand deliver it to the pharmacy just like my other controlled.

Soma has been a controlled substance for a very long time most places it's the same schedule as benzos but down in Louisiana its now a shedule 2

I agree xdoc..letting the goverment control the medical field is just STUPID..lay persons are deciding our medical needs. Docs go to school a long time to get degrees..the dealers and abusers need punished and harshly..i hope one of these people hollaring about control standards need pain control one day and they can't get proper control..because of their own rules. If they are gonna make these rules they need to be across the board..no money talks crap..it sickens me they make these rules for common people then they get whatever they want. Drs know their patients. Insurance people some with only high school degrees are making decisions about our health. NOW THAT SHOULD BE AGAINST THE LAW. same as practicing medicine without a license
