Is Soma A Narcotic And Does It Show Up In A 12 Panel Urine Drug Screen Test (Page 10)

I GET DRUG TESTED EVERY 2 WEEKS AND I HURT MY BACK AND MY AUNT GAVE ME A SOMA AND I HAVE A 12 PANEL DRUG SCREEN URINE TEST AND I WANNA MAKE SURE I'M NOT GONNA FAIL MY DRUG TEST.

Somas are not narcotics. They ARE controlled substance, but they are not narcotics. My doctor can call in a script for my Somas to the pharmacy, which he CANNOT DO with my Methadone scripts. Narcotic, in the pharmaceutical sense, are usually Opioids.

It is NOT a narcotic. It IS a controlled substance. For the love of God, not all controlled substances are narcotics. However, ALL narcotics are controlled substances. Narcotics are simply opiates/opioids and other morphine or poppy derived substances like heroin and opium. It is not that complicated.

I'm on Drug Court and I tested positive for Suboxone, but I haven't taken anything other then the soma. Even then I was written the script because I was sick as hell, So will it come back as a false positive?

GAKITTY: You tested positive for Suboxone, yet have taken NO Suboxone? My best guess is that your test results got mixed up with someone else's. I can't see any way that something like Soma, which is a Carbamate-class muscle relaxer with NO opioid in it, and Suboxone, which is a partial-agonist/partial-antagonist opioid, could get confused in a drug test outside of plain old human error. Just my guess. Other than that.....????

Yes, Soma (Carosiprodol) IS a narcotic. I used to be on it and every time I filled my script it had that lovely orange label on the bottle..

Unless the lab is odered to test for Soma it will not come up positive for Soma. If it causes a false positive simply have the testing agency confirm whatever substance they supposedly found and they will not be able to confirm that substance because it will not be present in the sample. Again, they have to test specifically for any given substance in order to find it. The question should be, is the agency testing for Soma and if they are, yes it will come up positive. So unless you have a prescription, you may be in trouble.

Soma is not a narcotic. Recently came out of a great rapid detox center. They gave me a few for home.

IMICHELLE; Yeah, it has to do with how many "panels" the test has. The basic 5-panel test would not show Soma. You get into those 10- and 12-panel tests? Or GCMS tests? That's when you would be in trouble.

I take 12 panel drug screen on a regular and Soma does not come up, even though that muscle relaxer is considered a bring narcotic. They would have to test pacifically for Soma. Hope I spelled that right!

NIA: So even on the 12-panel, Soma still doesn't show up? Ok, thanks for the information. My doctor used to do a UA on me occasionally, and I don't know how many panels it was, but it was done with GCMS, and Soma DID come up.

Soma is muscle relaxer, but it isn't a narcotic, btw.

There are also Suboxone maintenance programs that have a "Dr. office" setting. They offer counseling while you are on it, and they taper you off slowly. I've been on both in the past and it is a much better route than methadone!
