Insurance - Pay Or Die

Updated

RX blue cross/blue shield just took ilalda from $45.00 for 60 tabs to $95.00 for 60 tabs. How can they jump almost twice the amount? Then you end up in the donut hole and now its $195.00! I can't afford this amount even with insurance, don't you have a say how much they can charge?

Unfortunately not. The pricing is solely up to the whit and whim of each manufacturer, and is based on several underlying factors, including supply and demand.

Have you thought of trying any 'prescription drug discount cards' or coupons to help take an edge off of that price jump? I was able to find at least a handful of them on google and other search engines. You can just print one out and take it to the counter when you want to fill your script.

Another option would be to ask your doctor or pharmacist about various patient assistance programs that some manufacturers offer to help income restricted patients afford their medications.

I hope this advice helps!
