I may not have a personal doctor I can refer you to, but I did come across a list of pain management specialists in the Dallas area, that you might want to consider giving a try:

Manuel Ramirez, MD, IMG
6161 Harry Hines Blvd Ste 224
Dallas, TX 75235

John Claude Krusz, PhD MD
5446 Glen Lakes Drive
Dallas, TX 75231

Paul Kurian, D.O
Principal Spine and Pain consultants
1809 Golden Trail Court, Suite #110
Carrollton, TX 75010

Felix Segovia, MD
1810 South Josey Lane
Carrollton, TX 75006

Eduardo Acosta, DO, MD
Acosta & Acosta Medical Clinic
375 Municipal Dr Ste 134
Richardson, TX 75080

Noor Gajraj
North Texas Center for Pain Management
4712 Dexter Dr, # 100
Plano, TX 75093

Don Peters II, NMT
Murphy's Law Neuromuscular Therapy
1418 Autumncrest. Dr.
Arlington, TX 76002

Unfortunately, no one can really know ahead of time what a doctor is or is not willing to prescribe, as that is based on the doctor's discretion and not just on someone else's previous appointment (especially since many doctor's are now worried about losing their licensing for prescribing too many narcotics). However, I believe you'll have a much better chance of getting the medication you need by going to a pain specialist as opposed to a general physician.

Hope this info helps!

Do you have a primary care Doctor? If so ask them to refer you to a Pain Management Doctor and they will have you come in and if they do take you on as a patient then you will sign a drug contract ..Which says basically you will abide by there rules and not misuse the drug. Also if they do take you on as a patient they do surprise UA's to make sure you are not misusing or using another drug as well. So when you go make sure you tell them everything you take even vitamines and supplements and over the counter drugs as well. Hope this helps. -Chiana

Rick I too am on alot and have gradually needed to increase to a pretty high level now 9 yrs in to med use..it's not that the meds don't work for you it's that ur body becomes very good at adapting to and being affected less over a long period of time..but if u took ur 200MG n just stopped them ud be I more pain then u r with it. Even tho the pain is still there. She needs the meds she has been used to going from where she was to nothing becuase she moved cannot be fun. It's not like she lost her rights to get the script threw misuse just hard cause I was wanting to move South myself I live in Central NY and winters r bad here n just plain hurt. But I'm scared to death of moving and having trouble getting set up again on a program. It sux but becomes a pretty big issue after yrs n yrs of needing meds to help with chronic issues. Tough spot n a tough call but we all build up a tolerance unfortunately we can't help it.

I know this post is old. I'm hoping you've been able to find some help by now. I'm in the DFW area and have CRPS lupus osteoarthritis chronic lyme, the list goes on and on. I'm in pain management but I am extremely worried that my specialist is going to be the next local doc brought up on charges and I can't be left without help. I would like to find a new specialist asap before mine disappears. Have you found any legit docs?

I lived in Dallas during the aughts and into the teens. I have two lumbar spinal fusions and two hip replacements. I would recommend Dr. Paul Bierig. He is a little gun shy about prescribing high dosages, but if you have already been prescribed it and it is working, he would become your Pain Management doctor and refill it.
