I Need Help With Conituing Medication

Updated

Please help me find a doctor that will help me out with my pain management though medication, there is no physical therapy or epidoral shot thats going to help with my pain. I am in greensburg PA and will travel if I have to. I have tried upmc pain mgt they referred me to another painmgt, I tried dr.davis in johnstown, he turned me down as a patient before he seen me. crinimal background. Dr. kunkel in cranberry again turned me down at door cause I already take oxy 30 from previous dr. I am having a hard time understanding the definition of pain mgt. I thought it was to help people function in there life when a situation occurs that stops them. I have been on pain meds since 2004 and now that my doctor has moved on I am left in the cold, with pain management slamming the door in my face??? It is a real shame that you go to a doctor you know for a fact that they write oxy 30 , but still these dr. look you straight in the eyes and says we dont write oxycodone here? A doctor dr. kunkel PAIN MANGEMENT WASNT MADE TO TREAT PATIENTS LIKE THIS!!!! YOU DR.'s DON't HAVE THE RIGHT TO TURN AWAY PATIENTS FROM PAIN MANAGEMENT WHEN THEY ARE IN NEED OF HELP? dr davis in johnstown is a joke 1000 cash for app and 4 hour evaluation in door dont dare tell them you have medical insurance they wont accept you, background checks credit checks wtf......unless my background has a sale of controlled substance which it doesnt I dont get it. Is there a such thing as HELP HELP HELP......

Unfortunately, unless you are in life threatening danger, in the U.S. no doctor is obligated to treat you, or prescribe you anything. So yes, they do have a right to turn you away, just like you have the right to refuse any treatment and to go look for another doctor.

Now, part of the issue you may be running into is if you are asking for a specific medication, especially a controlled narcotic. Most doctors automatically see this as drug seeking behavior.

The best thing you can do is to set up an appointment with a new doctor and make sure that they receive a full copy of your medical records, so they can see what has worked for you as documented by other doctors.

Does anyone else have any suggestions to add?

If you were going to pain mgt for over 2 yrs and we're on 75 microgram fentanyl patch and a u/a came back positive on the low end for coke and got released and weaned off, can it still be possible to find a new pain mgt clinic that will take you on in spite of a one time bad decision?
