Hydrocodone Urine Analysis

I take 5/325mg generic norco 6 tabs daily. Recently, my doctor has been having patients take urine tests to for 1, to protect his license, and 2, weed out the abusers. So I took my test today and it came back negative for opiates? I asked the woman y that was and she really didn't give me a good answer. So I spoke to my doctors head nurse and she knows I'm taking them and told me when my doctor views it, she'll call me but said I was fine for taking them still. Why did this occur? I even took two on my way to the test? Thank you.

On the cheaper, less reliable drug tests, it seems anything is possible. False positives (misreadings) are known to occur on them anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time.

Specific testing, such as that done by a gas chromatograph mass spectrometer, has the ability to distinguish the exact substance in question. This type of testing is not initially performed because of cost, but, is often a follow-up option for those facing serious consequences such as a job loss or jail time.

I would think that if you re-took that drug test on several different occasions you could end up with multiple results. It's sad how inaccurate they can be, since for many people, their livelihood rests upon it.
