Hydrcodeine, Ambein, Diabetes Ii, Stroke, Depression, Widow

I have a friend recently widowed. She had stroke 10 yrs. ago, has no use of left arm. Home bound. Children & siblings desserted her, won't deal w/her. Only her brother trying to help with finances. She takes 3 hydrcodeine day for 20 yrs & Ambient for sleep daily. Alone at home, isolated, except brother & neighbor come. She doesn't check bs level & not sure diet. Her memory not always good. See keep house dark. I see deep depression. She knows she is addicted but doesn't know what to do. I do. I can get her into hospital in Dls. for detox but she needs therapy too. Her brother doesn't realize severity of issue. I had MDD over 10 yrs ago so I recognize the signs but I was not on drugs. Her brother is looking to me to take care of this. It's a very sensitive issue. Has the Ambient & Hydrcodeine affected her Diabetes or other organs? I need help to proof to explain medically to her & her brother. Can you help pleade? Thank you.

If she is only taking them as prescribed, and not abusing them, then she would be described as being dependent, not addicted, under FDA definitions. She may experience side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, hallucinations, and sleep actions.

If these medications are still being prescribed, she must be seeing a doctor regularly. Has anyone informed the doctor of their concerns? That would really be the best approach. The doctor cannot talk to you about her medical conditions, but you can tell them of your concerns.

Sorry to read this type of stuff about any one who has had a stroke and the family has deserted them smh,I'm taking care of my mom who's recovering from a stroke she had 3 years ago now and it's been just her and I going through this together my sister wanted to put mom's in a nursing home behind my back but luckily I was the perfect who signed and went with her to the hospital in the ambulance and my name was on the paper of family who is to be contacted in any issues plus mom's said she wanted to come back home and I told her that's all I needed to know I'll take care of you even if I have to quit my job and that's what I did she do have motion in her legs and one arm now and she can walk to the bathroom now with help and she can speak clearly now it was a long road but we got to see 3 years come in together since her stroke thanks to the therapists and nurses and aides who worked with us especially thanks to GOD almighty for his mercy amen just cannot thank him enough
