How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 10)

Updated

Im Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx

Z-man, you could go to a urgent care or emergency room, say your doctor rescheduled your appointment for next week and you need 5-10 of them to get you through the week. I used to do it all the time when I was using. Or ask your doc for a few. I'm sure you know to be careful with them, every time I had relapsed while on suboxone it was on benzo. FYI benzo withdrawal is HORRIBLE and just like alcohol you CAN die from, 2 years ago I was in a detox for 2 weeks to come off. I had always thought the withdrawal was the opioid's but it was the benzos withdrawal that lasted foreva. for me benzos are a slippery slope and you are doing great lowering your dose, I would hate for you to do what I did, I know you are sincere in your post when you say you just want them to help you sleep, but I can say from experience that its a whole other ballpark when you have that bottle in your hands. Please try clonodine (nonaddictive ). that kinda helped. and PASSION FLOWER works very well it helps calm your nervious system the only tea I could find was at wholefoods, its called "Traditional Medicinals" Easy Now is my fav and it works!!! and that coming from a benzo addict I never thought anything would work that well oh and take the tea with benadril. I think you can buy the passion flower powder on-line you can put in food pudding, oatmeal, milk etc. Every time I would tell myself in all honestly & sincerity that I would use them only when I need it, but inevitably my addiction would win, I'm talking handcuffed to the hospital bed in the ER because I couldn't stop making myself throw-up to feel better I was drinking water just to throw it up, crazy ish! any way I digress, so what ever you do I hope some of this info helps, ps get the tea it absolutely takes the edge off

R, thanks for telling me that. I feel 70% better already. The benzos don't get me high but help my messed up brain sleep and settle down after this last painful experience. The worst problem I have is the nerve pain in my legs and feet. The NMS just burned them up. I feel better today and am back to work ( self-employed). I was just mentally and physically drained last night. Today so far I have not taken my benzo. I woke up in the middle of the night even after 2 lorazapams in horrible nerve pain. I then realized I was overdue on my clonadine patch. With in 30 minutes felt better and fell Sleep. So I will try to carefully take my benzos and hope for the best. FYI, Monday I literally gave up. Ci told my family and friends that I diidn't care anymore as the body face and heart twitching and spasms were getting worse. I've Never been to that point and hope to NEVER get there again! Thank God I am slowly getting better... The benzo was the trick, but what's next? ....

Risub, well after yesterday taking as little benzo as possible I was sore but ok until bedtime. My legs and feet again felt like they were on fire inside. Vi ate supper, fell asleep for 45 minutes, then my wife noticed I was tossimg and turning in my chair until I woke up to EXCRUCIATING nerve pain from my back to my feet. All I had to say was wtf. It was the same original nerve pain that I felt on the initial onset of my allergic reaction. My Central Nervous System namely nerves must be FUBAR!! I took two Lorazapams and even that took hours to make tolerable, My wife had to use a Thumper Machine to do a deep tissue massage. Suffering around here, being Saturday no docs to call, I assume I need a neurologist....damn!

Becky...I was on Suboxone for over 6 years and can proudly finally say that I am done with this drug. My last dose was taken on January 16th, 2013. The way that I got off may not work for everyone...But this is what I did. First, I tapered down to almost nothing. I went through minimal withdrawals while taping; which only lasted a couple days. Nothing serious just some restless legs at night. My dr had me down to 1 mg/day but I actually went down to .5 mg per day for 1 week until I quit. I set a date in which to take my last dose (mind you that I did have more to take if I needed). On January 16th I took my last dose of .5 mg and have not looked back. I took L-Tyrosine for about 2 weeks along with some diarrhea medicine. You can find L-Tyrosine at GNC...I honestly think this is what allowed me to break this habit along with exercise. I had minor withdrawals which were not really noticeable. Today, I am sleeping like I used to before doing any drugs and feel the best that I have in my 41 years of life. Another big help for me to get off of Suboxone was my wife. She was there for me to just talk or offer her encourgement. BTW, the Suboxone that I had left when I quit was flushed down the toilet on day 30, very liberating knowing I didn't need that drug anymore!! Hope this helps. Will

Will, I think that's wonderful that you are off that awful
medication. I myself am tapering now and hope to be in your shoes soon. Great job, you should be very proud of yourself.

Will, thank you for sharing, I did not see L-tyrosine at GNC. I did buy the Amino Acid powder and the Super Food Supreme. I will look for it. Congratulations on getting off Suboxone!!! I am just soooo close. All of you who have responded to me, Thank You!!! I am Always open to suggestions! When I tell my Doctor I am taking 1 mg or .5 mg of Suboxone, they tell me there is no way I should be having withdrawals trying to get off. Have any of you had decent withdrawals at that levels? Or been told there should be no issues getting off Suboxone? I have found that these Doctors really don't have a clue!! I Really am trying to get off, but I am now scared of the Benzos after reading the post from . The reaction I had to Serequel Really FRYED my nerves in my legs and feet. In the afternoon and night they go crazy. I feel tingleing, zapping, itching from the inside, and general Charlie horses and cramps in them. I was Soooo close to getting off the Subutex, but now the uncomfortableness and pain is driving me crazy. If I do not take my Benzo - Lorazapam - until they get real bad, it doesn't help for hours and then even taking two pills is all that I can stand. Is there anyone out there that can tell me how long it takes to FIX the "Burnt" nerves from my reaction??? It was called Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome. I then had Tardive Dyskinesia, involuntary movements of my face and body parts. The TD is gone. ANYONE who could help answer questions about NMS Please advise!!!! The only good thing through this was despite being in excruciating pain during the ordeal, I did not take any Narcotics or Increase my Subutex. I am STILL fighting the battle, but the set back is really discouraging me mentally and physically... Thank You, Z-MAN...

Hello, I'm 27yrs old, and I have a beautiful lil girl, I've had a addiction problem for 4 yrs now, I was put on suboxone 6 months ago ,I take 1 and a half a day, and I now really want off it, I feel the longer I take it, the harder its goin to be on me to get off it in the future. I would just like to ask if anyone suffered from panic attacks when they try to either lower doses, or skip doses?

Hot auto... Read post 178, one 75 mg dose of seroquel messed me up. At first about 30 minutes after taking, got literally pissed at wife for a Stupid reason, then my legs and feet got terribly hot, uncomfortable, then they felt like severe Charlie horses, then heart rate went crazy, etc. My MISTAKE was NOT getting Immediate medical help! I just could not believe one dose could do that. My left hand especially still shakes now 4 weeks later, hard to text and hold phone now. Sorry, whole incident raises my Anxiety, anxiety I Never had and yes to the other post, as I reduced Suboxone, seemed to get. I Never had any kind of Anxiety issues ever... Gotta go, can't take hand pain no more!!

Thank You Risub, I will try as I just read your post. I re-read the posts earlier too, kinda missed the flower part. I quit the benzos as soon they helped, but then adjutated the issue. Everyone else said the benzos were bad for me...now I am I'll with a persistent cough that got so bad last night, had to take codeine to stop coughing, but haven 't taken Subutex in 4 1/2 days and don't plan on it. Just scared now as my cough, sore throat, itching ears won't let up again today unless take Some tyl w codeine. Prior to codeine tried Everything over the counter with little help. Is there anywhere to go to buy the Passion flower - stores??? You say tea, like somewhere like Wal-mart?

Risub, found some Passion Flower Tea near me, I'm sure not too strong. It did help somewhat, very surprised! Will have to travel to Whole Foods, not close to me, and can't get online menu or way to order from them. Thank You soooo much!

To all my people's who have responded / helped me, thank you. I can say I have NOT taken any Subutex for 11 days now. The only thing I take is an Ambien to sleep, but can't be doing that as they make my headaches worse. Took 1/2, tonight 1/4... I get zapping throughout the day and one sided headaches, but they are Slowly getting better. Obviously for those who have read my posts, I Probably am the WORST CASE SCENARIO as the decades of continuous prescribed heavy Narcotics REALLY messed my mind / brain up, but I try to see light at the end of the tunnel. Right now, even if I drink caffeine, smoke a cigar, it makes things worse. Instead of getting a boost, etc, get a worse headache, but at least I am off ALL Narcotics. Thank You all, and don't get scared to quit Suboxone as they say, "If I could with all my terrible issues, so could you!..." Any questions, I would always try to help, Z

Take one day at a time & be gentle on yourself (don't beat yourself up) There is a light at the tunnel & it is so close you will be overjoyed to know from someone who had been down at the bottom for so long! Your first step is WANTING TO BE SOBER FULLY/FREE of ALL substances that cause addiction/addictive/ritualistic behaviors that involves placing UNNATURAL CHEMICALS in your/OUR bodies! Try & find a Suboxone clinic with a Dr. who has a treatment plan & state up front you want to be entirely sober & You desire to be tapered ASAP! Medical Detox works well to if you have the insurance & the time depending triage of your Dr.s advice/condition of your habits and or multiple medications etc. I have used tramadol as well to suffice for withdrawn symptoms but not a permanent choice for treatment if you can even get them prescribed in general just saying. Physical & light exercise if you can will help with depression as natural endorphins help as well as with anxiety for myself even if I didn't feel like it at first it made a WORLD of difference after my jog/walk/eliptical, just even getting out in nature for a bit on a beautiful sunny day will help inspire & remember what it's like to feel normal/natural again should hopefully help you get INSPIRED to get SOBER :) I would also watch the show INTERVENTION to show how things work (process) or how YOUR NOT ALONE or a bad person! You just have to want it with all your HEART! Do it for YOURSELF,FAMILY, YOUR PET! I BELIEVE YOU WILL as I HAVE & AM after YEARS of addiction!! WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMIES OR OUR OWN HERO'S!!! Finding a site like this is a HUGE FIRST START!
TOGETHER WE CAN!
MY LOVE & MAY STRENGTH BE ALL OF YOURS AS IT ALWAYS IS! THE JOURNEY OF A 1,000 MILES STARTS WITH 1 STEP FOR REALS YA'LL
IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO SAVE YOUR LIFE~!!!
LOVE-JOY-LIGHT TO ALL OF MY BROTHERS-SISTERS WHO FACED & FACE THIS CHALLENGE~
YOU CAN YOU CAN YOU CAN YOU WILL YOU HAVE~!!! :)

Thank You. Well day 22 off Suboxone, no Narcotics, saw a Psychiatrist last week who prescribed some medications to help fix my head and to sleep. They were powerful but did nothing. After 3 days of calling him, etc, he said he just really doesn't know and NOW is IMMEDIATLY sending me to a Neurologist as my brain / body isn't working. I get zero highs, caffeine, cigars, sleep medication, food, exercise does NOTHING for me. I have ZERO normal reactions to these things. That is the problem. My New psychiatrist said a brain scan / MRI would be interesting to see! Those of you who take these Narcotics need to see my story as to the damage these pills can and have done to my brain is horrific! L I still take one day at a time and Refuse to quit, ALTHOUGH some days the over-all Pain / nerve pain is almost unbearable. Wish me luck as 8 different Doctors now Could NOT help me, without resolve....I was starting to do better until the Seroquel reaction!! Now, stuck in this bad zone of nerve and back pain and a REALLY messed up mind / brain!

So happy that 1) you tried it! & 2) that it worked!! I'm sorry to hear about your nerve problems, I hope you find some relief. Don't know if you've heard of Ayurvedic medicine, its been around forever and is widely excepted overseas. All nature stuff, its worth googling see if theres anything for nerves I believe that the passion flower powder is from Ayurvedic tradition. Good Luck

Risub, again thanks, will research that. Today the Neurologist said he has NEVER seen anyone who has been on such doses of medications, but never had a patient been on them sooo long! Duh? They did a nerve test in my arms showing moderate damage. I think just maybe the AMBIEN has a role in this. I am researching it. Right now I take 5 mg or less to get 2-3 hours sleep. I may be onto something...I have taken it ever since it came out, 1-2 weeks on, 2 weeks off... Still no luck, nerve pain is about unbearable at times, my headaches were not as severe when going from 10 mg to 5 Mg's. My body's natural Endorphins are NOT AT ALL Working!!! Absolutely no natural highs. I run, with horrible pain, feel worse, muscle aches / twitching worse.... Z

(part 1)
Zman... you are the Man!! 22 days..i can assure you that when you get into the 30's it becomes easier. Your body is recovering! Amazing.. You are at a tough stage that very few get to.. You gotta know you you can beat that damn little pill that holds you back from everything u want to accomplish.. You are part of the small %'tile that will actually permanently get off this.. do it and you'll be walking hope for others that it's possible! just further evidence to those doctors that say "our nervous system can fully recover after opiates and we need a maintenance dry". Your road has been very tough which shows that regardless of what substance, dependency and amount, if you still have a heart beat and a desire... Your body can do it!
Also. Your brain also will heal itself! Our bodies, mind and soul his the greatest creation(machine). After years of docs saying brain cells don't regenerate, it's a known fact that they do regenerate!! With a little time things do get back to normal and you will see the world how it's supposed to be seen!.. WITH OUT constant aching, pain, dread, removing the haze of numbness that sucks all ambition and energy out of you!

Subsuckurpotential, the funny thing is that these doctors, 7 now continue to tell me that my brain IS REALLY Messed up and they don't know how to fix it. They tell me they have never seen anyone with the length and quantity of Narcotics... I agree, my left side body twitches and zaps down my feet and toes not to mention my fongers. Cut has been 3 1/2 years of withdrawals etc. Was it Really worth it? I am beginning to wonder. No human should suffer that great deal for that long. All those people who stereotype drug users, you Really don't have a clue. Most don't have the foggiest idea what it is to get off these powerful narcotics! I sure hope things get better soon.....z
