How Long Before Linzess Starts To Work?

I was prescribed Linzess for my IBS-C. I have been taking Linzess for two days now and very bloated with no bowel movement. From what I had read, it would work rather quickly, but for me that is not the case. I took one 145 mcg the first morning as directed and 2 of the 145 mcg the second morning and still nothing. How long does it usually take before I will start seeing results. I have the urge to have a bowel movement, but nothing is produced. Any advise will be appreciated.

Hello, CJ! How are you doing? Has it worked, yet?

There's really no way to give a time frame, it can vary from person to person. Some people have good luck with it, some don't. One person posted recently that it was only resting in one BM a week for them.

Have you consulted your doctor for advice?

I took it for about 1 month, using free samples from my provider. I had diarrhea for about 3 weeks, occasionally accompanied by mild nausea. 3-4 days were rough, having bouts throughout the day.

After then, things seemed to start to settle down and I was having almost no constipation. Then I got a prescription and tried to fill it. Uh, no freaking way. $200 copay.

No thanks, I'll just go back to taking fiber pills with an OTC stool softener at night, with a big glass of water. Doesn't work as well but I'm not paying that much money for a medication.

To elaborate--I do not have IBS. I had a colon resection several years ago due to colon cancer, and I've had chronic constipation ever since then.

How long does it take for Linzess to first start working? I have had 2 daily doses of Linzess 145 mcg as instructed half an hour before breakfast. No bowel action so far, only bloating. Any suggestions?
