How Long After You Stop Suboxone Do You Have Withdrawal Symptoms? (Page 8)

Updated

My 63y/o mother survived chemo and radiation for throat cancer but was unable to stop the morphine 15mg twice a day without horrible withdrawal symptoms. Her MD put her on Suboxone 8mg/2mg once a day in June. She even took half the strip on most days and the doctor was very pleased and anticipated that she would be able to stop altogether in November. She unfortunately had a stroke 14 days ago and has been in the hospital. The first 7 days she was confused from the stroke but now she is weak and forgetful but is no longer disoriented. She told me tonight that she thought she needed her Suboxone. She said she thought she was going thru withdrawal. I was floored. She is not having any outward signs of withdrawal: no back/stomach pain, no nausea/vomiting, no sweating or tremors. Isn't 14 days long enough for the Suboxone to be completely out of your system and for withdrawal symptoms to have come and gone??? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

I'm doing very well I think. I'm weak, having to make myself eat. Flexarill 10 mg at night helps me rest and I've noticed that 1hr after I take it I HAVE to eat something! Taking 600 mg Neurontin at 900am and 5 pm, I think the neuron tin has made me be able to come this far. Today is day 7, but compared to other times I tried to stop, I'm gaining strength, and less uncomfortable each day the past 3 days. I have also asked God to take away this addiction 1 week ago, and to provide help/strength to get through this...I believe he has...

Jolter got bout 6 hrs sleep last night.. come to find out the otc sleep aid I was taking did make my RLS worse. Just taking 4 melatonin now for sleep. But it's a roller coaster like you said!!!!! The last 3 days though it's kinda been the same during the day. Not better but not worse either! Day 20 can't believe I made it this far!! SERIOUSLY! ! If I was still on I'd be just about out and trying to figure out how to the money for Dr and script!! Kinda sweet don't have to do that anymore!! I have wantedto feel normal for so long that I dont even know what that will feel like so sometimes I wonder am I normal now? Cause that would really suck:) My goal now is 4 wks! Give myself little goals to make!

Slojo..so glad to hear ur hanging in there!!! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!! You have to get ur mind prepared that it takes awhile!! I told myself 1 wk, after that I said 2 wks, after that I said 3 wks...now I'm saying 4...but Knowing in the back of my mind it could be more!! But to start out at thinking it will take 4-6 wks makes it harder....everyone is different though...I hope you do not have much longer!! Just remember WE GOT THIS IT DON'T HAVE US;)

Jolter they are reviewing ur message?? Hopefully be up soon!

Yes,not having to pay dr. bill or for script is nice. I think that when your back to normal you,ll know it. Ya gotta remember you jumped off from a high dose. It,s gonna take time. Glad your getting some sleep. It,ll be nice when you can go back to getting a regular nights sleep.
Whats the expression, "good things come to those that wait" or some crap like that ha..ha

Day 21, went to sleep at midnight last night slept tell 4:30am, pretty good:) still have the RLS that makes it hard to fall asleep. Energy and feeling better is starting to come back and now is the mental struggle because when I was on subs I drank 5 16 oz red bulls a day to keep me from falling asleep. I love red bulls!!! But trying not to pick back up my bad habits because I'm feeling better because it would be just a matter of time before I'm back on pills again and I know it....sooo....faze 2....reprogram brain for healthy lifestyle;)) which in part is why I refrained from going to Dr for a script for RLS or sleep...I needed to know I faced my demons and said not on my watch...I GOT THIS:))

It's a battle everyday for me when I,m not on subs to stay away from the pills. I've been off and on subs for several years now. I tried NA when I was on subs and they told me I wasn't really straight because of the subs. I've been involved in AA now and then throughout the years and allthough they've helped many people there really not my thing. There is a pill thats suppose to take that urge to feel high away, can't think of the name of it. Maybe that would be an option for me. I gotta hand it to you, your really doing good. I know for a fact its not easy. Keep going.

Thanks Jolter!! Got 3 hrs of sleep last night which is my biggest problem. It's that yoyo crap again!! One night 5 hrs one night 3. I think if I sleep good my energy level would improve! Had a good day just exhausted and praying I sleep better tonight cause last night was crazy...have also been having crazy thoughts I've never had before. That's kinda tripping me out a little but staying strong!! At this point I have no idea where my strength is coming from but I will take it;) Happy Easter hope you had a great day!!

I have decided to leave this forum, I find some replies discouraging to me. I have been on suboxone for 8 years, this is the third time I've attempted a withdrawal... I have gone from 24mg to about 4 mg, today is the 10th day. I am doing very well . I rode my motorcycle 300 miles the past two days. I am no where near done with this, but I have MADE myself eat/ drink WATER, and MOVE about even when I feel like I can't. I am weak, dizzy some, but am not going crazy as before when I attempted this. I hope everyone does great and is as comfortable as possible...

Slojo...soo sorry to see you go! Not sure if something I said was discouraging to you?? I know this takes awhile and you have to push yourself to get back to life. I have gone for many drives cranking the music!! I have been taking valerian root and HELPS A LOT!!! I know you will do this!! You will be in my prayers!!!!

Glad to hear your doing good. Sounds like you beat it. Nothing is better than exercise at this point. It,ll make you feel good. It may help with the sleep. Couldn,t hurt. If your still taking the stuff to help you sleep you may want to start cutting back on them. Taper,taper,taper.... lol

I have been taking 8mg Dailey and sometimes I took more a day and now I only have 7 of it left. I'm a single mother of two boys and work as a cashier. I'm terrified of being on withdrawal for months since I've been on methadone for two years few years back and know what that's like. What do I do? I can't do my Job and my home and my kids. I'm at lost at what to do. I thought abt going to dr and get vicodins to help wean off and trying to stay normal but I know it'll make it worst. I was not expecting this to go bad till I read the googles and that freaks me out. Please help!!

About 8 months ago I was taking vicodins off and on weekly I was careful not too take too much from my experience in the past. Then dr stop and switched to suboxone 4 months ago and at first it was 5 strips a week then progress to daily then the past 2 months sometimes two strips a day and dr stop prescribed refill and I'm very concern for horrible withdrawal to come. I didn't have any yesterday and just now took one and I plan to not have any for few days to stretch it out because I only have 5 strips left. I want to find another dr to get it but I'm an hour away from town and I thought abt going to different dr to get Vicodin if I'm gonna be sick and need to get rid of the withdrawal

Well i played the yoyo game for 3 yrs of beingon 10-15 vicodin oxy whatever I could get. Subs filled in the between times. Then just went to subs and if you have only been taking for a few months I cut the films up ration them out as long as possible and then quit!! The WD are not as severe as vicodin WD but they last longer...EVERY ONE is different but as I look back over last 3 wks if I HAD to work I could have all but 3 days I would say...you could find another Dr but they tend to want you on them for yrs!! Then every month you pay 400-$600 for Dr app and script! I wish I could say you would have no WD but that's just not true! I have heard of people using vicodin to help with WD but I personally would pop those puppies in a couple of days!! I wish I could help more!!!! If you have anymore questions please fill free to ask:))
