How Long After You Stop Suboxone Do You Have Withdrawal Symptoms? (Page 7)

Updated

My 63y/o mother survived chemo and radiation for throat cancer but was unable to stop the morphine 15mg twice a day without horrible withdrawal symptoms. Her MD put her on Suboxone 8mg/2mg once a day in June. She even took half the strip on most days and the doctor was very pleased and anticipated that she would be able to stop altogether in November. She unfortunately had a stroke 14 days ago and has been in the hospital. The first 7 days she was confused from the stroke but now she is weak and forgetful but is no longer disoriented. She told me tonight that she thought she needed her Suboxone. She said she thought she was going thru withdrawal. I was floored. She is not having any outward signs of withdrawal: no back/stomach pain, no nausea/vomiting, no sweating or tremors. Isn't 14 days long enough for the Suboxone to be completely out of your system and for withdrawal symptoms to have come and gone??? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Day 14 I have had many many MANY hours to reflect on why I am always seeking a drug to make feel happy. I guess I could say it was having a mom who was the biggest drug dealer when I was growing up, the attempted suicides at 12, the miscarriage at 14 that scarred me soo deeply. Or maybe getting married at 16 with a 6 mo. Old baby, and all the cheating on his part and mine for the first 10 yrs of marriage. But the then the last 12 have been amazing. Yes I have had a rough life anyone would look at it and say know wonder she has problems. But ALL of that is not it....let me tell you what it is...at 12 when I was in my bathroom ready to cut my wrists because my mother had od on concaine and was in hospital, someone knocked on my door. Knocked knocked knocked..finally annoyed ran out and opened and a man said God loves you and handed me a little orange bible...had no idea who God was...at 14 at a party a man wasted tried to rape me and someone I don't know pulled him off...There are so many stories like that I could tell...oh God did not spare me from all my terrible mistakes but he was always there, trying desperately to get my attention. He did at 20 but by then my flesh had tasted sweet seen..it longed for it. The more I went to sin the harder God was PULLING me towards him....The war in my soul was agonizingly hard...The more guilt I felt the more drugs I needed to dull the pain of it. Well I think Him so much for NEVER giving up on me...

Hey Desperate, Do you know anyone who would give you a prescription sleeping pill or even a Valium? Believe it or not Tramadol helps with sub wd. I,m not trying to talk you into taking anything but if you did don,t beat yourself up over it. You jumped at a super high dose. I would think by now that most of the sub has left your system and your left with the crap wds. I,m not suggesting you take anymore sub but if you do remember 1-2mgs would work for you now.
I hope you don,t but if you do, remember that it,s not the end of the world.
Who knows, maybe tommorow you,ll start feeling better. I hope so.

Desperate for answers, please don't give up! I am praying for you . I have been following your post with interest and feel compelled to tell you I am so proud of you to this point! There are many of us nameless people out there who are supporting your struggle. You said a few days ago melatonin had worked and you got a little sleep. Try that again, it might help. Please know it gets better! Please know there are many of us pulling for you. Don't let this evil drug sap you of your strength and will power. I am praying for your peace tonight and hoping so much you can visualize a drug free future.

Slojo I can SOO relate!!!! Sometimes just getting up to go to bathroom is a chore!! I'm at the end of day 15. Had a bad night last night and got NO SLEEP my worst night of RAS (restless arm syndrome). I think my fatigue is from just lack of sleep!! I have had 12 hrs in last 6 days!! (Keeping track) a college psychology class I took would say I should be dead....I pray your recovery is quicker than mine. Boy do I hope so. I'm at the point of no return! My foggy head is gone my appetite is back now I just need sleep. Will be up all night if u need someone to talk too:)

Jolter texted my sub Dr to see if he could call something in cause he knows what I'm going through. (By something I mean sleeping pull or valium) he will not get back to me. Which is funny cause when I was giving him $200 CASH (cash only) he had no problem answering my texts! Tonight is not as bad as last night so hoping to get at least 2-3 hrs around 5am! That seems to be the pattern! Thanks for ideas I have followed most of them;)

Lady, WOW!!! I'm in tears right now!! Thank you soo much for that!! I truly needed that! This has been quite possibly the hardest thing I've ever done! I have been wondering will I ever be normal again! My husband asked me last night if it's possible I did permanent damage cause this recovery is taking so long!! I don't know I literally try anything and everything to relieve the agony I'm in! (Not opiates though!!) Today is day 16 and I'm Sooo jittery and NO NO NO NO NO NO ENERGY!!!!!! I just pray tonight maybe just maybe my RLS will be gone!! I truly believe the body needs sleep to recover and that could play into why this is dragging out so long!

Hi Desperate, I,m no doctor but I doubt you damaged anything. Sub wds take a long time to go away. Sleep was allways the hardest part for me along with leg cramps.
You jumped at 16mgs. Some folks will taper and jump at .25mgs and still feel lousy for a week or more.
Your doing great. I really gotta hand it to you! I don,t know if I could have done it from such a high dose.
Don,t forget that other people have and made it.
I wish that doctor of yours would give you something to make you sleep.
In my opinion theres nothing wrong with taking a sleeping pill if it will make your wds less severe. Others may not agree with that.
Is there another dr. you could go to?
Hope you feel better tommorow.

Day 17....I told myself I would describe last night a T! Here it is...9 pm took 4 melatonin like every night. Laid down to sleep...could not do it my lags and arms where still going crazy...so I did what anyone did...I WENT CRAZY!!!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOST IT!!!! I had decided right then and there I GIVE UP!! At 2 am crying exhausted in h*** I turned my I pad on and played Everything by Lighthouse (if you have not seen the skit for this HIGHLY recommend), told God I'm sorry but I'm calling Dr tomorrow. Cried again and said please tell me what to do....then....FELL A SLEEP TELL ABOUT 10 MINUTES AGO!!!! That's 6 hrs. Some may say well its been 16 days but I'm telling you last night was no different than all the others. I am so thankful.

Today I woke up feel in clear headed/rested. &much more strength which I am most thankful for! I'm not actually cold turkey, I'm taking 600mg neuron tin every 8 hrs it helps TREMENDOUSLY, TAKING 10MG FLEXARIL at night to help with rls andit gives a sedative effect to help me rest. I did have a strange day/night yyesterday... I walked in my sleep, yelled and cursed in my sleep, could barely walk last night, my equillibrium was OFF.. Hang in there all of you...

Slojo so glad to hear you are staying strong. I was wondering how you were doing! I have been so close to call a Dr for something to help with the WD. I have not really pursued it hard because I'm tired of taking pills to help me fill better. Today I'm still jittery and fatigued but it's not as bad as yesterday! Hoping tonight will get some more sleep and tomorrow will have more energy! If I knew what these things were like I would have not started taking them! I quit hydros once and after 9 days was fine except for some depression. This though is a mental battle that could break the strangest person out there!! Guess that says I have more will power than I think:)

Desperate for answers: thanks for your reply, I'm kinda nervous today since i got up.It could be the 5-6cups of java i,'ve had.. You hang in there. I been on Sub for 8 years...was on everything before starting sub I sometimes wish I had never
Had started it, but at the time it served it's purpose &helped me to control what I take, and the structure at my clinic was a big help...you hang in there. I would call your reg. Dr. And ask him what to do , tell him you want to do this and need his help, Neurontin is a God send for me. It especially helps with inside your body cramps/tremoring feelings, &helps. With the weakness/loweback pain & the anxiety/craving feelings... Hang in there! wecan do it!,

Hey desperate, Glad to hear you got some sleep. Be careful with the some of the O.T.C. sleep aids, they been known to cause R.L.S. It might say on the warning part of label.
I hear you when you say your sick of taking pills but some folks get them legally prescribed to take the edge off wds. I think slojo72 suggested talking with your regular dr. if your sub dr. won,t help.
I know it feels like this is gonna last forever but it won,t. Hope you get feeling better and you sleep well tonight.
Hi Slojo72, Hope you also feel better soon.

Desperate: I Hang on! You've come so far... I need you to show me it can be done. Please consider something for sleep. Flexarill is very effective for Rls and has a sedative effect (not a lot though)... Keep in touch. I've had a good day 5 but afraid the worse is yet to come...

Slojo..slept 7 hrs last night!!! WOOOHOOO!!!! This is such a SLOW process!! Last night still had a little RLS but the melatonin was able to put me to sleep. I was expecting the RLS to just stop...it doesn't it tappers off ever so slowly. Praying the medicine you are taking will help with that cause it is truly maddening! I did not get into WD until bout day 6-8. But I'm telling you if I can do it...I KNOW YOU CAN!! and let me tell you, you feel more! Ur mind is like clear things r funny you care again!! I never cared before. SO many times I could have truly just walked away from family cause I just did not care!! BOY am I Glad I didnt! ! Hang in there we got this;))

Jolter slept good last night...When you did this did the WD symptoms go away like a cm at a time? It's like u notice a slight difference each day n night!! It's crazy!! Enough to drive someone BONKERS:)) Well feel good today! Little jittery still and ate some sweets last night...BAD IDEA!! haha..I'm praying this is finally my turn for better and not just a good day and tomorrow back to crap...it's crazy how that works! I truly don't understand it!! Maybe it's not 100% out of system!! I would think so but looking back I got 60 subs a month and would always have to go back a week early so was taking 2 1/2 8 mg pills day for 5 months. Not sure if the extra 4mg makes that big a difference but maybe!!

As I recall after a while I,d start feeling a little better then not so good then better again then have a bad day. It was kind of back and forth for me with each time I felt better then before. Then I,d have a night of not much sleep but feel a lot better the next day. It was really kind of up and down. For me, when this rollercoaster ride was done it was done completely. I had a lack of energy for awhile afterwards but besides that all the wd symptoms one day just stopped and didn,t come back. Unfortunatly for me the urge to feel high came back with a vengence. Thats when you gotta be careful. Your experience could be totally different coming off subs. Everyones different.
Glad ya got some sleep. Be careful with those sleep aids.
