How Long After You Stop Suboxone Do You Have Withdrawal Symptoms? (Page 11)

Updated

My 63y/o mother survived chemo and radiation for throat cancer but was unable to stop the morphine 15mg twice a day without horrible withdrawal symptoms. Her MD put her on Suboxone 8mg/2mg once a day in June. She even took half the strip on most days and the doctor was very pleased and anticipated that she would be able to stop altogether in November. She unfortunately had a stroke 14 days ago and has been in the hospital. The first 7 days she was confused from the stroke but now she is weak and forgetful but is no longer disoriented. She told me tonight that she thought she needed her Suboxone. She said she thought she was going thru withdrawal. I was floored. She is not having any outward signs of withdrawal: no back/stomach pain, no nausea/vomiting, no sweating or tremors. Isn't 14 days long enough for the Suboxone to be completely out of your system and for withdrawal symptoms to have come and gone??? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Outlaw, I know your wanting a day...like day 13 you will be fine. I was the same way..I wanted anyone to tell me how long I had to suffer that hell. But here's the thing no one really can. If I tell you my story I'm scared it would discourage you. Plus I was taking more than you. Your wd started alot earlier than mine. I was fine tell the 7th day really. I would say if ur drinking lots of water and taking vitamins by 2 wks you should be feeling a TON better. So 1 more week!!
One thing that helped me was a play list of music from AC/DC to Destiny's Child...that helped give me a push of motivation.

When it comes to amino acids you will be hard pressed to find someone with more knowledge than I.

L-Trytophine is pointless it turns into L-Tyrosine when it passes the blood brain barrier, so there's no point in taking both. You should be taking L-Tyrosine and 5-HTP to increase production of dopamine and serotione, respectively. A multivitamin, is EXTREMLY important. An amino acid blend, not just the freebase singles suggested above.

Omega 3's from fish oils. Lot's of protien (spread out from your amino acids, protein is where amino acids come from, so too close togather and your defeating the purpose), a concentrated does of amino acids is nirvana for brain and body. Lots of water, whether it's chugging 3-4 20 once cups a day, or sips throughout the day, water is the most important key to recovery. Gatorade as well to aid in the recovery of electrolytes lost, due to mass amounts of bodily fluids being expelled, the 3 S's (sweat, s***, snot).

Lastly eating heathy and resting. But honestly eating healthy while in WD is a MFer, so follow the regime above, and you can eat Cheetos all day, you will still be far better off.

The time between 20% - 100% all depends on nutrition. Anyone that says "it's all about genetics", is a bulls***er, I have a BA in nutrition take it from me.

Hey buddy I did what you are doing. I went down to 1 mg of sub and u will of course experience wds but it is easier. I made smoothies and force fed my self and even though that sounds bad it makes your body feel way better then not eating at all. Hardest thing for me is going to sleep. Haven't figured that out yet. Good luck buddy. I wish you the best.

I had to taper for about 6 months after battling an 8 year addiction and still had a hard time. Tapering truly is the proper way to stay off suboxone. There is really no reason to torture yourself by jumping off at your regular dose. I am almost a year sober and my life has completely changed for the better. I wish you guys the best!

Hi Joseph, I know this is an older post, but, I came across it. I've been on suboxone for 8 years now and I also wonder when does it end ? I was addicted 2 Oxy for 10 years and suboxone saved my life. I guess the way I look at it is, if I have 2 stay on it another 8 years, I will ! NEVER want 2 b caught up in that addiction, again.

Hi Azumpire, I know this is an older post , but , I came across it. I TOTALLY agree with u. With God all things ARE possible. But , as u said,"you MUST believe." If u don't believe, prayer falls on deaf ears ,

Hello been on suboxone for roughly 2yrs I decided to quite financially it was to much on me and my family,It's been about12 days since I took my last dose I was taking an 8mg strip and cutting it downi was down to about half a strip when I quite the withdraw has been rough there's no way to sugarcoat it, my question is on the 6th or7th day I had a small piece of strip that I took does that mean the whole time prior to that was wasted?? And if so on what I was taking is there any idea how much time I have left?? I'm praying and hoping any advice or words of encouragement welcomed Thanks. btw I'm 34 years old if that matters

Hey joeman, No that prior time was not wasted at all. You jumped at a pretty high dose. The best way is to taper down slowly. Theres a taper chart for subs online if you can find it. I,ve had sub dr. tell me to taper as low as .5mg or even .25mg.
Don,t beat yourself up because you took a little sliver of sub. Even if you have to do it again just take as tiny a piece as you can. Subs are very strong med. so it doesn,t take much.
Hang in there and let us know how your doing.

I have been on Suboxone now for 10 years and now my daughter is 11 and needs me to be more active..
I am now down to 1 mg per day from 16 mg a day ... Like others stated the Doctors do not care as long as you have good insurance .. They want you to stay on forever...
I am going to 1/2 mg per day then to 0 in the next month ...
Any recommendations of what will help me get through the + 30 days of withdrawals ??

Thanks in advance to all.. God Bless

Bobby

hey babybaboo, The lower you can go on your tapering, even down to .25mg is gonna make your jump easier as far as wds go. Don,t taper down until you feel good on the dose your on or it just won,t really help much.
You got to let your body get used to each drop every time. Sometimes this can take over a week.
Also excercise helps a lot during the taper process and afterwards.
Sleeps a big issue with some folks after they jumped.
If you could get something for that just in case it might not be a bad idea.
Vitamins in the B class may help. Maybe Vitamin BComplex along with a one a day vitamin. If your gonna try vitamins it wouldn,t hurt to start before you jump.
Some people use Immodium. They say it helped with wds.
I havn,t tried the immodium except if I had diarrea so I don,t know how much they took.
You can also look up something called the Thomas recipe. I,ve never tried that either.
Good luck and let us know how your doing.
Some people even find posting how they feel helpful.
