How Do You Take Subutex? Swallow Or Put Under Tongue To Dissolve? (Page 8)

I have a friend who takes suboxone & recently got a subutex given to him. I take suboxone myself but ive never heard of subutex until couple days ago. I would like to know how is subutex supposed to be taken? Under your tongue or do u swallow it? I am worried about my friend & i have searched every site possible on information on subutex but none of these sites say how it is suppose to be taken. what are the side effects of subutex? why do doctors give pregnant women subutex & not suboxone during pregnancy? i need to know any & all information on subutex. i have hidden the pill from my friend until i can try 2 find some information on it & he has been sick but i dont want anything bad to happen to him.also is subutex a small white round pill with number 8 on one side & an arrow on the other & does it come in any other forms or colors etc.? I'm desperate for answers!!!!!

Everyone has their way that worked for them. Just because this way worked for you doesn't mean it will work for them. Many things come into play. If it was that cookie cut everyone would stay clean. Congraduations on getting clean! It is an easier softer way forsure! Almost 4years for me and I did suboxone for 6 months and have been off for almost 4years.

This medicine is sublingual. This means that the medication is is delivered into your bloodstream by dissolving it under your tongue. Don't smoke or drink any fluids until ten minutes after you take this medicine.

Hi. I know this post is aged but I've read almost every comment minus the entirety of the super long one. I myself have been on methadone for years, also been on Suboxone and currently take Subutex 8mg 2xs a day. A lot of the experience shared here is right on... Even the parts in which people disagree. We all know Subutex does not have the naloxone that Suboxone does. The naloxone is called a blocker by health professionals. They also say that the naloxone will cause you to get sick if mixed with other opiates... Unfortunately that is not always the case. Suboxone can be over ride with enough consumption of other opiates. The tricky part to all of this is our bodies; no one is the same. However, anyone whom I have seen take a Subutex or suboxone with methadone in their system has gotten sick. In saying that I will also say I'm sure there might be someone out there that this in not the case. I also can speak from my experience and say in the past I have tried to take other opiates with Subutex in my system and did not get the effects I was wanting at the time... Almost as the Subutex mutes the effect of the other opiate. That doesn't mean if you're reading this that you should continue to take more on top of Subutex or suboxone bc you can OD. I preferred Subutex bc I could not stand the taste of Suboxone. Again this is all my personal experience. I have been following the directions of my Dr which I should have been doing the entirety of the program. It just irritates me bc after the pill is all the way dissolved I still have a mouth full of gross tasting saliva I fight from getting on my taste buds and I end up keeping the pill in my mouth for 15-20min till it's gone and then after a few more minutes swallowing the remaining saliva down with a drink of cold coffee. I pray for those of you still struggling with the needle.... That was my hardest battle I've ever faced and by God's grace and mercy, IV administration is no longer part of my story. But it is for a lot of people and I'm no better than anyone that has or still currently is. Subutex has saved my life... Methadone was not an answer to my problem and a lot of people prob thinks Subutex is not either. But it works for me.... Whether you're on a maintenance program, AA, NA, Smart, Celebrate Recovery... The list goes on and on. NEVER JUDGE what chapter you're on in your story by someone else's. We are all different. As for me I rely on God, his guidance and being in tune with my moral compass and keeping my conscious clean. Best of luck to everyone and God bless!

You place the strip under your tongue for 3 to 5 minutes and spit all the left over out. You will feel its effect more and have no headache. Just try it and you will see I am right.

I don't know what insurance you guys have but I've been paying 1 dollar and 25 cents for three 8mg subutex a day for years now. No withdrawals at all. For 3 months i tried suboxone, it made me so sick just coming off a little. I love subutex, never have a problem and my dr gives me two 30mg adderall a day, three 1mg clonazepam and wellbutrin.

Nope, its the naloxone in the suborned that is an issue. From the 70s - 90s only methadone was prescribed for pregnant addicts because it was unknown if buprenorphine would hurt the fetus.

However there have been many studies on the fact that buprenorphine is safe for unborn children and is now actually becoming the preferred method.

It would be unethical to have a controlled blind study on the effect of naloxone on pregnant mothers so that's why it's not recommended.
